Death Walker - Third Season

In order to understand the haunting that now plagues

this vacant 103 year old location,

known today as the Defiance Junior High School,

I had to find out what tragic events happened around this property

that will reveal the reasons as to why this old building

is experiencing so much paranormal activity.

This county is named after the historical site

known as Fort Defiance,

a fortification constructed in 1794 by General Anthony Wayne.

Fort Defiance was important to defending Ohio

from invasion by British soldiers

and their native allies during the war of 1812.

General Wayne would order his troops

to destroy Native American crops and villages

within a radius of 50 miles around the fort.

Tragedy would strike Defiance and other surrounding towns

when the greatest natural disaster in Ohio history would occur in 1913.

After five days of steady rainfall, levees were over topped

and many towns suffered disastrous flooding.

When the floodwaters receded,

tons of mud and debris covered the streets,

homes, businesses, and factories.

An estimated 467 flood deaths has been quotes

for the state of Ohio.

The Central High School building once stood on the grounds today

was demolished in the early 1900s.

The Gothic-style architecture school building seen today

was built in 1918.

One of the more grim moments that I found

that is directly connected to this school

occurred in 1891 when a high school janitor,

a man named John Moll,

was believed to have been murdered in mysterious circumstances.

John claimed that he witnessed

the superintendent of Defiance schools,

a man named CW Butler,

was in a compromising position with one or more teachers.

This information was brought to the Board of Education,

and just a few nights after the claim was made,

a band of citizens from Defiance

that were known to be friends of Butler

went to John's house to commit violence upon him.

Luckily, John was not at home, and instead,

stayed at a friend's house fearing that he would be lynched.

The very next morning, a homeless man found John Moll's mangled body

near the railroad tracks.

John was still barely alive,

even though his legs were nearly severed,

his throat slit, and he had been stabbed twice in the chest.

John would expire soon after he was found.

The newspaper declared John's death a suicide,

while friends and family, and even the town coroner,

all agreed that he was murdered.

A dozen men were indicted for riot,

but none were charged for murder of John.

The case was believed to have been swept under the rug.

Four generations would pass,

and students of the past have come forward to speak

about their confrontations with the paranormal activity

while attending the school before it would be vacated.

The paranormal activity witnessed here

involves feelings of being watched by an unseen presence,

spirit voices are heard, and shadow people are observed

moving about in various areas.

There's even reports of students seeing full-bodied apparitions

roaming the halls during classes.

I will try to determine if the spirit of John Moll

could still be residing here in the school today.

Perhaps his anger towards the town and the paranormal enthusiasts

who investigate this building has driven the spirit to lash out

mentally and physically at the living.

I'm going to try to make contact with John

and see if he'll relay a message or secret from the past

that could indicate that he was in fact murdered.

I will go into this investigation with my guard up,

knowing that some sort of supernatural presence

could be taking on the form of John Moll

and using his likeness to lash out and scare the living

inside this school of the dead.

It's just a strange feeling being back, 35 years later,

the school still looks the same, lockers are the same,

flooring, colour scheme, still the same.

Just kind of stepping back almost 35 years ago

when I was in seventh grade.

One day after gym class, after changing, I got back upstairs

and realised that I had lost my billfold,

so running back downstairs, I came back downstairs,

I go by myself, came down here and got about right here,

outside of the locker room, and all of a sudden,

I just got cold chills for some strange reason.

I mean, the hair stood up on my arms

and I knew I had to find my billfold,

so I ran back into the locker room,

and as soon as I got around the corner of the locker room,

I just felt like... I saw my billfold,

and it felt like somebody was just staring at me,

so I ran over to the bench where my billfold was laying,

grabbed my billfold, turned around, looked around real quick,

just had a very uneasy feeling.

As soon as I found my billfold, I grab my billfold, ran back up,

ran upstairs and I hated being outside of this locker room

ever after that, after the two years I went here.

I know a lot of people have seen shadows just darting across.

I know people have even said, across the street,

have said that they have seen lights in the windows at times,

just uneasy feelings coming in here,

especially down in the basement area,

down in the maintenance hallway.

Just a lot of strange, strange feelings.

A cousin of mine said her friend actually worked back down here

and just hated going into a certain part of the school

because she just always felt very uneasy.

When I was attending here, my seventh grade year,

I was in my gym class and it was right after class,

I was getting a drink and I came down here

to the drinking fountain because we didn't have one in class.

I had voices so I thought there was someone else,

so I went back upstairs and I was like,

"Is anyone else here?"

There was no one here so I came back to finish my drink

and I went back to class, and I went round the corner,

and there was a woman, and she was walking

back and forth in the hallway.

She was just standing there and walking back and forth,

like she was just weird,

and I got this weird feeling every single time

I came to this school. When I was here,

I just didn't like it and I was so glad I left.

I ran out of here as soon as I could.

I was in the locker room changing for my second dance

and I heard voices, and I thought it was some other girl,

and they're changing for her second dance,

and I had the whispers and the talking of like two people

and I looked in the stalls, I looked in the shower.

There was no one in there besides me,

so I just got that weird feeling again

and I ran out of there as fast as I could.

I used to attend school here,

my last year in this building was 2011.

We came into the gym every morning if you didn't eat breakfast,

you came to the gym, you waited for classes to start.

So I saw a person, there are probably about

half way over in the wait room,

and they just slowly walk out over into the stairs

that are over in the corner.

No one ever came down, walked out because, normally,

we come right out over there in that big opening.

But no one came down, no one came back out there.

Just got a weird vibe thinking about it.

I was in the band while I was attending school here,

and went to class, had normal band practice.

Went to put my instrument away, and I was the last one in there

at that point, and I turned around after I hear something fall,

and it ended up being a music stand.

It was completely away from any edges,

and out of nowhere, it fell.

I was the only person in the room.

No teachers are in the offices.

No one else around.

It kind of freaked me out.

I finished putting my instrument away, got it in its locker,

went on to my next class, kinda just brushed it off,

but it was definitely a creepy feeling after that happened.

I oversee this location.

I've been overseeing it for a while now,

and I have looked into the history in quite a bit of depth.

This school is surrounded by death.

I mean, it's a lot of mysterious death,

it's a lot more than you would typically find in another,

in a school.

Outside of the flood which killed hundreds of people,

there was a murder that happened here,

there was a suicide that happened fairly recently.

And there was also...

There were also football players that died on the football field.

Since I've been overseeing this location,

we have had all kinds of experiences.

We actually started working with the mayor and the city attorney

to try to clean this place out, and throughout our work,

we have had plenty of things happen,

including the shadow figures that we all see.

They dart between the classrooms, and as we do investigations,

I had three girls on my team that went upstairs to the third floor,

and they were chased out of the building

and actually locked themselves out because of something

that apparently charged at them very aggressively.

I mean, I frequently see apparitions in the school.

I frequently see people walking around in the gym

or on the bleachers.

I also frequently see, there's an entity

that we've encountered called the principal.

I don't necessarily know who he is

or if he's really the principal or not,

but he seems to have kind of control over this entire building,

control over the spirits that are in here,

and I think there was also a couple of cases of arson in there too,

so there's a lot of questions that also add to...

I think that's the biggest thing

is that all these mysterious circumstances

have fed into this energy
