Death in Paradise

For as long as I can remember,

I never felt like I belonged.

My mum was in labour for 30 hours when she had me.

She always said I didn't want to come out

because I knew what was waiting for me.

Like I knew I wouldn't fit in.

Growing up,

I was the kind of kid who'd sit in the shade

messing with my brother.

After school, my mum would get annoyed

I was more interested in doing homework than helping her.

I started to accept that there was something inside me
