So, Mont Helena.

I mean, this is a really interesting location, Steve.

It's an old Native American ceremonial mound,

in the middle of farmland.

Then they decided

to build a house on top of it.

TAPS is in Rolling Fork, Mississippi,

to investigate Mont Helena, a 19th-century manor house,

built atop a 1000-year-old ceremonial mound,

harboring chilling paranormal activity

that's been reported since the early 1900s.

She leads a volunteer organization

that helps host events and keep up the property.

Now, I know they said that there are certain areas,

where she can't get the volunteers to go.

'Cause you never know where you are safe.

They are claiming to see apparitions of a man.

People are being scratched.

inside and outside of the property as well.

What drew you to this property?

Well, this house, was a perfect Scooby Doo mansion on the hill,

when it was in bad repair.

The current owner brought Leslie on

to manage the property in 2009

after decades of renovations.

She now oversees this event and performing arts venue,

with the help of other volunteers.

So, what's some of the history here, at Mont Helena?

This house was built in 1896.

Originally, was 1894, but...

Helen and George Harris were gonna move in.

It took two more years to build this house.

Helen, the daughter of a wealthy plantation owner,

married George, an episcopal priest, in 1862.

She inherited her father's cotton and corn plantation

that had been worked by enslaved people

until the end of the Civil War.

In 1896, Helen and George

moved into their newly-built home,

and named it Mont Helena.

Why would they build on top of a ceremonial mound?

Because at that time, yellow fever epidemic.

And there were a lot of mosquitoes in Mississippi.

And usually there's a breeze blowing up here.

So they felt like, may be that would help.

The floods come every few years,

so that helped too. - Wow, all right.

Helen and George spent their retirement at Mont Helena

and both died in the upstairs bedroom.

George, in 1911 and Helen, in 1917.

and it stayed in the family until the mid-1900s.

It then fell into disrepair

and by the 1960s had been completely abandoned.

Exploring Mont Helena then became

a rite of passage for local teenagers...

with some of them experiencing chilling encounters.

1962-63, my friend and I

rode out here on our motorcycles.

We saw a woman in the sitting room window.

She had gray hair and a white gown.

That vision has been seared in my mind for...

60 years.

We were terrified.

Another local also has frightening

Mont Helena memories from her childhood.

Three of us, including myself.

We decided to go at night, at 12 o'clock.

I saw this lady out in the yard.

She had a bucket in her hand that shined.

She threw her hand like this and she was waving,

and she asked us to come back.

And it scared us to death.

Mary also reported seeing the walls covered in blood.

I tell my grandbabies all the time...

the house is haunted.

We've heard that there are some volunteers of your organization

that feel quite uneasy in different places.

Where are these spots?

The back hallway by the back stairs.

We've heard people talking

We've heard people talking

when there was no one there.

I've seen somebody walking back there.

You have? You have experienced that?

He had on black pants and a dress coat.

Volunteers have also had unnerving encounters

in the kitchen, just off that back hallway.

I was here all by myself.

I heard two men's separate voices talking.

And then I heard something like

aluminum pans falling to the floor.

After being here and having that experience,

I don't think I'll ever be here alone again.

In the basement, people have heard

the unsettling sounds of chains rattling.

And on the second floor,

there are other strange noises.

People have heard footsteps...

...and eerie voices when no one is there.

And in the second floor guest bedroom,

a volunteer has also seen a male apparition.

There are also claims of a more aggressive entity,

that pushes, scratches and touches people.

Upstairs, I would often have

this feeling of fingers on my head,

and just going through my hair. It's scary.

It feels like they can do anything that they wanted.

So, sounds like pretty much, activity is throughout the whole property.

Yeah. I think the more active the house is,

the more active-- - The activity is.

So, what are you hoping that we are able to accomplish here?

We all just wonder what we are experiencing.

We know a lot of your volunteers are scared.

So, we will definitely try our hardest

to get all of those kind of answers for you, for sure.

because that could be fueling the activity.
