I was just thinking about those meetings

I remember telling my friend in the fourth grade

that my parents weren't in love.

Um, and she would get up and fix us dinner,

and we were always too scared to tell her

that there would be newspaper ink all over her face.

Then after dinner,

she would lay back down on the couch

and put the paper back on her face.

Sounds like she was exhausted.

Yeah.

I was scared of my mom.

And now I've turned into her.

I can relate to that.

Sometimes I scream at the kids,

like she used to, to us.

I try and figure out why am I doing that.

But then I look at them,

and I think...

When he looks at me, all he sees is a chicken-fried steak
