他在朝鲜战争中被俘虏 He was captured during the Korean War

而后选择了留在中国 and had chosen to stay in China.

在第二次世界大战时在美军服役 in the U.S. army in World War II

参加了对抗日本的 in the Pacific Campaign

太平洋战争 against the Japanese.

三年的战争后 After three years of war,

有一百五十万人死亡 a million-and-a-half dead

二百五十万人受伤 and two-and-a-half-million injured,

联合国指挥部 the United Nations Command

和共产党军队在一九五三年七月二十七日 and the Communist forces signed an armistice

签订了停战协议 on July 27,1953.

朝鲜依然被分成两个国家 Korea remains split into two countries:

北朝鲜和南朝鲜 North and South.

双方有成千上万的战俘 There were thousands of prisoners on both sides.

所有不想被遣送回国的人 All those who refused repatriation

被转移到了中立地区 to their homeland were transferred to a neutral zone

他们有九十天的时间 and given 90 days
