In order to be considered

one of the most iconic haunted locations in America,

a property must have an extensive record of people witnessing paranormal phenomena

than most other haunted locations in the country.

The Myrtles Plantation is shrouded in a controversial dark history,

that demonstrates as to why this property is so haunted.

Every year, Myrtles Plantation attracts visitors and paranormal investigators

in an unlimited stream that are in search of ghosts.

Even though a lot of paranormal phenomena have occurred around the plantation,

I believe that the reason as to why it's haunted needs to be questioned.

The Myrtles Plantation, which was originally called Laurel Grove,

was built by General David Bradford in 1797.

Soon after building the home,

David was forced to flee, leaving his family behind.

Bradford eventually became involved in the infamous Whiskey Rebellion.

Myrtles Plantation was sold to Judge Clark Woodruff in 1820.

Clark and his family would manage Myrtles Plantation for his mother-in-law, Elizabeth.

Together, he and his wife, Sarah Matilda, had three children,

Cornelia Gail,

James and Mary Octavia.

Tragically, their happiness would not last.

On July 21st 1823,

Sarah Matilda died, after contracting yellow fever.

Woodruff continued to manage the plantation

and to care for his children, with help from Elizabeth.

But the darker days would fall upon him. On July 15th, 1824,

his only son, James, also died from yellow fever and, two months later,

in September, Cornelia Gail also died of the disease.

The plantation would change hands many times throughout the years.

The most infamous story surrounding the Myrtles Plantation is that of Chloe, the slave.

It's been proven that the story about Chloe was traced back to an old ghost story told by Lucile Lawrason,

granddaughter of a former owner of the Myrtles Plantation named Harrison Williams.

The Williams family told the tale of a mysterious old woman,

who wore a green bonnet, who haunted the property.

In their version of the story, the woman was older

and was never named or identified as an actual slave.

The story about Chloe was sensationalised many times,

as the Myrtles Plantation changed hands.

The back story was enhanced to include the poisoning of the Woodruff family

and the slave-girl narrative.

It's also, allegedly, the site in which ten murders took place.

I researched and found that just one man named William Winter

was shot standing on the porch by a stranger riding on horseback.

To this day, Winter's killer remains unidentified

and has never been brought to justice.

Regardless of the embellished number of murders that have taken place here,

it's proven that many people that resided here died of yellow fever.

The sheer number of strange events and paranormal sightings

cannot be denied or ignored.

It's obvious that something unusual is going on at the Myrtles Plantation

and that it is absolutely haunted by something or someone.

In order for me to possibly discover something new, I decided to invite

a talented medium, name Tessa DelZoppo,

to join me on this investigation

to help give insight on events that were lost in time.

I believe Tessa's unique ability to communicate with the spirits

will further increase my chances of making physical contact with someone

or something at the iconic Myrtles Plantation.

I'm excited. I haven't been back here for years.

You know? When I first came to this location...

It's an iconic location.

Everybody in the world knows the Myrtles Plantation. They know it's very haunted.

Like, I think with what I do as a medium and the way that I approach things, too,

is you want them to know that we're here out of respect.

Like, we wanna know you. We wanna give you an opportunity to have a voice, to tell your story.

They know, they can sense that energetically, cos it's all about our intentions.

Our intention is to get them comfortable enough to really make themselves known

and possibly touch you or interact with you in that way,

I think that, I think we're gonna get some really cool stuff.

When you have a location that has so much energy and it's implanted into the soil, the foundation

of where the building sits and you have all these tragic events that take place,

the people that lived there, who put their energy and their life before they died, that's left behind.

Those conscious thoughts are left behind.

That's why I'm really excited to have you a part of this investigation,

because you can go a little bit farther than just investigating.

You can look beyond our realm.

You can see the insight of possibly who these spirits are.

I rely a lot on just my senses. It's almost like I allow a spirit

and that place, I get rid of what I'm feeling, what I'm seeing

and I ask them to kinda fill it in for me.

This way, I know that everything I'm sensing,

whether it be emotions

or maybe the way people died

or like those projections, those videos that I see in my mind,

to take a good look back at history, basically, like a documentary.

That's like the best way you can put it.

It's like seeing a documentary play out in your head.

I'd like to welcome you to the Myrtles Plantation, St Francisville, Louisiana.

There's a lot of history here.

We're known for our beauty, but the Myrtles is well known to be America's most haunted house

for quite a few reasons.

It's said that a total of 13 murders have took place at the Myrtles.

Ten of those people died a very violent death.

They're the persons that still roam the home.

A man named Mr William Winter died.

People that are in this room very often hear his footsteps going up the main staircase.

They hear them three consecutive times, but they never hear them come down.

This is a room also where people hear furniture being moved beyond this doorway.

The William Winters is kind of a room that I'm afraid of.

I do... There's so much mystery behind it.

It's so much that, when you walk in there,

you don't know if it's gonna be a day where, "Oh, this is just a normal room"

or it's gonna be a day where, as I said,

you feel like people are in there, there's other people around you.

It's just totally crowded.

A lot of people say that they can hear the sound of a rocking chair rocking.

We had a rocking chair there. We removed it, because so many people said it was disturbing at night.

But the sound is still there.

And there's a butler that lives in this room.

He very often shows himself to guests.

He'll stand at the end of the bed. He'll ask, with his hand behind him,

with a white cloth on his other arm

and ask if there's anything he can get them.

When they reply, if they're able to, some are a little bit too shocked to,

he, if they do not say anything,

his pattern is to backward go out of the door.

You know, there is bad and good in all

and I bet it was more bad people than good.

The ones that we think were kind of a bit strict and having slaves

and trying to keep them in line, probably the time of that,

mainly was Judge Clark Woodruff.

Because... And also, really, Ruffin Stirling.

And William Winter maybe, as well.

Because it was in a time where...

you had one group

before the Civil War and you were afraid of war,

then you had one during the Civil War and one right after.

So you've got, you have what you're worried about to come,

what's happening right now and what's gonna happen in the future.

So I'm sure people were not quite as nice.

And even now, you have good and bad people.

So it's just the way that it goes.

And I do believe, though, because the house has survived so long,

that the good has outweighed the bad. You know?

But, even now, you know, and... It's just you can feel that, too.

It is haunted.

What's weird is that there's, like, this sense of anxiousness.

The minute that I pulled up over here, you get this flood of emotions.

Just layer after layer, between, you know, really being passionate about the space,

then there's this anxiousness, this anxiety that kind of goes along with it,

wanting to run, wanting to get away.

The house has a lot of condensed energy. This feeling of, like, "I wanna get out of there".

It's so beautiful, so... condescending, in the sense of where

you want to be out of there, for some reason.

Out here was the free part of things and, in there,

it was very tense.

But I keep looking up at this one and I almost wanna, like, say

somebody sat by the window

and would look out at it, would look out here.

So this woman that I keep picking up on,

it feels as though she worked here.

OK, so like she... She definitely worked in the grounds.

There's... It's... It's hard to explain, because...

It's weird, because I feel like she almost doesn't...

She didn't wanna have to go when she did.

So whatever happened to her was not... her doing.

And I keep feeling like there's...

It's almost like they think I died this way, but I didn't. You know?

And a spirit will make me feel what they're feeling, like, now, but also back then.

It's this sense of, like, never being able to get my story straight or what really went on.

It's kinda interesting now, like, me being here and being able to pick up on that.

There's a lot she wants to say.

Both of these people didn't pass at their own hands, somebody else did this to them.

So the gentleman and the woman, both passed at somebody else's hands.

It's almost like one is... One led to the other, which is weird.

I don't know how the two are connected yet,

but there's a connection to the gentleman dying and then her dying.

But the girl not so much.

The little girl is more like, this was her home.

You hear a lot about spirits wanting to come back after they've passed

to where they were comfortable or their home.

I feel like that's why she's here.

And, like, she lives out those moments, you know, of being just...

running around the property...

I don't know if there's a statue back this way.

So she would, like, run outside and just be happy and that's what she does now.

But this woman and this gentleman, there's a lot that plays out.

I almost see, like, these dominoes falling over of why this happened.

And one passed and then the other one did. So one led to another.

I think the biggest sense that I get, energetically, is just that

anxious feeling that I keep talking about, it's the most prominent.

And, you know, it's... it's between...

feeling passionate about this property and then this anxiousness

of, like, I'm stuck, I keep wanting to yell, like, "I'm stuck here, I'm stuck."

But I feel like that was more said when they were alive, more so than now.

I don't feel so much that they're, like, stuck here now,

I feel like they were stuck here then.

So this woman is very prominent with that.

The woman that's on the property is very prominent with saying that she was stuck back then.

And it's almost, like, hard for me to breathe in.

There's just a lot of anxiety, I guess, around the whole property.

I don't really know what went on, like, down in here,

but there's some tense energy in this room.

I keep getting this sense of, like, wanting to cry, for some reason.

Like, I keep wanting to...

come in here and cry and I don't know exactly why.

And I also feel like there's this little girl.

I've picked up on her since I came on the property.

I just felt like somebody grabbed my hair.
