Die ersten 200 Zeilen.

Whoo!

Right now on "fast n' loud"...

Boom!

...Hot rod hunter richard rawlings

and his band of monkeys dash to take the checkered flag

with a replica '37 buick indy racer.

This could we one of the sketchiest things

we've ever done.

But as richard drops the hammer...

That's 100% the wrong color.

-No, come on. -What did you do,

just drop the paint gun, and it went everywhere?

...The monkeys hit a wall.

Stop. Stop. Stop.

-You got a leak? -Yeah.

We're pouring fuel.

And then...

This guy is wanting to come by today.

...The '75 datsun 280z hooks a buyer...

I could sell ice to the eskimos, brother.

...And has richard seeing green.

Oh!

whoo!

holy...

You're good.

How are we heighth-wise? You're good.

You can roll right there where you're at.

That chain will stay on the back

on the end where your hand is?

Yeah. Yep. Okay.

It's all hands on deck.

We're in the middle of the '37 buick indy car.

And over at the paint shop,

mike is fixing to put a deep burgundy maroon

on the 345 straight-eight motor

that's gonna complement the british racing green

that's going on the rest of the car.

I bought the '37 buick from dave coker

for what ended up being 100 grand.

The '37 buick shows to be "unpaid."

oh

but only after I got on the phone with dave

and settled up.

How about 75 grand?

No, I don't want to give you 125 grand for it.

How about I just send you 100 grand?

Deal? Alright.

I need the title.

It's an exact replica of a shafer 8,

which ran in the indianapolis back in the good ole days.

Anyway, tony taylor's old boss in savannah, georgia,

a guy named dale critz, wants to buy it from me.

I like sweet deals.

Yeah, he'll pay all the money for it.

Dale is a niche-market buyer with deep pockets,

so I need to move fast if I want to get top dollar.

Whoa! Coming in hot.

I gave the monkeys a 6-week deadline,

and I budgeted 20 grand to make it absolutely killer,

but the build has taken a couple of caution laps.

-Oh! -Oh!

Oh, dude!

Bass busted a one-of-a-kind spinner.

Holy crap. That sucks.

And I should also point out that he ain't at the shop today.

Richard doesn't know anything about this.

Nothing!

Anyway, removing the old paint

was a toxic nightmare from hell.

I can't talk. I can't breathe.

I got to go get my mask.

But the one thing that put the brakes on the build

was the original hardware didn't make it out for nickel plating.

We have no bolts.

Not only does the look of the car need to be authentic,

but we have no way to bolt this car together.

What's the deal on the hardware? How long is that gonna take?

It's still gonna be tomorrow afternoon.

That costs us a day of actually hanging parts.

We're behind.

With all the hustle and bustle of getting the parts out

and getting things done, the hardware got left on a table

sorted and prepared to go to the plater,

it just didn't go to the plater, which is a huge problem

because we have all this pretty plating.

We got a brand-new chassis,

all these new panels that are painted,

and we have nothing to assemble with.

So I have to come up with a plan,

and I've got to come up with it quick.

I made a decision. Okay.

So the hardware was gonna be an issue,

so I decided stainless was the way to go.

Okay.

It'll give a good contrast

with the nickel and the chrome,

and it'll do what we want to pretty it up,

and I've got every size that we need.

I went through all the old hardware.

I got extras of everything.

I just want to get it done, so...

Alright. Let's sort that out.

Well, we got a solution for the hardware.

If you were to put a nickel-plated bolt

into a nickel-plated plate,

it gives you a kind of a uniform look

that doesn't look like we detailed it.

The thought process now is we're gonna go

stainless everywhere in there.

That gives it another color.

Cool. Nice.

Get that stuff organized.

I hate these guys.

So like I said, bass isn't at the shop today.

A funny thing happened this weekend that caught me

and russell by surprise.

Dude, this place is rad!

Thanks, man. Pictures don't do it justice.

It's huge. It's been a lot of work.

What's up? Russell, how are you?

This is where bass has been all morning

instead of at gas monkey garage,

so today we're zipping out to bass' new house.

He's had his old shop for, like, 15 years,

and we've been there a bunch.

It's really, really cool, but it's cluttered,

and it's full of crap,

and he says he's finally moved out of it

because his house has a shop at the back.

So bass invited us over to sneak a peek at it

and share some news with us.

It's been a lot of work, but I'm really stoked on it.

And you can come to work straight from the bedroom!

Yeah. Alright.

Let me give you the full effect here.

The full effect? Wah!

This is awesome, dude.

Holy cow! Do you do any work in here?

It looks so clean!

It's a working museum. Let's call it that.

That is freaking rad, dude.

When he raised that door, I mean, when he said

he had a shop in the back of his house,

I'm thinking, "okay, he's got a two-car garage or whatever,

and he's converted it into a shop."

no, that's a shop. It's, like, 3,000 square feet,

stuffed full of all the cool stuff.

Speaking of museum, I wanted to have the effect

of an old speed shop.

This stuff was in the old shop.

It just piled up, and you could never see it,

so I wanted to be able to see it now.

And appreciate it. Yeah.

You probably found stuff

when you were moving, like, "holy cow!"

yeah, believe it or not, yeah, you're right.

There was lots of stuff there I didn't even remember I had.

I recently got a new shop after being at my old shop

for 15 plus years.

I bought this place and decided,

"hey, I want to have, like, a new lease here on life.

I can actually do something that's a lot nicer

and match the quality of cars that I want to build."

and I know you remember that car because you sold it to me,

and you really kind of put the britches on me on that one,

but not many people my age have a '41 willys coupe.

Yeah, this is super cool.

And you're right, I could make money on it now,

but I never have time to work on this stuff.

Oh, I get it. I just finished this chassis,

and this car here is ready to go get paint.

Is this a customer? Yeah.

There's four customer cars in here, and...

Wow!

...Honestly that's kind of the problem.

Problem? What problem?

What's this?

This is a track-t, and a track-t is a model t

that was used to race on, like, dirt tracks

or even land speed racing,

and I built this one to do what they call the race of gentlemen.

Right. Out the shore in jersey.

Where they race on the beach, yeah.

So this one is getting pretty close to being done.

I can actually go race it.

The stuff he's got in there, super cool.

I kind of get why he jives with the gas monkey feel.

He's got a lot of the same taste, a lot of the same stuff.

What did you want to talk about?

The thing about working at gas monkey is that

I do all this at night and on weekends now.

It's really wearing me down.

I figured he had a reason for inviting us over, so...

You can kind of see what I'm dealing with.

I've got a lot going on, man.

I've been struggling with how to tell you this,

but I don't think I can really keep doing both.

I have to pick one or the other.

And if I have to pick one or the other,

I've got to pick my own shop, my own thing,
