is already deployed for his latest mission.

I took a gamble coming to the east tract,

but it's been paying off nice.

I'm on a great pay street

that I'm hoping we get to ride out all winter.

But I'm gonna gamble a little bit more.

We gotta move to follow this pay street,

and it's moving us into some of the thickest ice I've seen in years.

With the old ways of drilling holes,

there'd be no chance in hell of getting through this.

Hopefully, with this mini excavator,

we have a chance.

Yeah.

Ice this thick presents all sorts of challenges.

It's hard to see the dive hole

because the ice is so thick all round it.

There's jagged chunks of ice that could snag you,

there's sheet ice moving at the bottom

that could come off and block the hole

and prevent you from getting back out.

We're definitely rolling some dice here.

With other guys like Chris mccully doing well out here,

I really gotta push to stay ahead.

I feel like they're only 10 feet away from me.

It's not the most ideal situation to be in.

A lot of people would see that ice and turn around and run.

But I best...

Looks like there's some fresh ground

out in front of us here, Joel.

I see all these big rocks over here,

I wanna get into them.

Quite a few big rocks down here.

Man, they're packed in here pretty good, too.

All those big, round rocks resist movement

like to hold the gold.

Zeke tenhoff's got his plan for the today.

And he can't afford any cracks...

I'm super stoked.

Just melting the hole, you know.

We know that there's a goal on this hole that we're on now.

It's possible that this hole is pretty close to being done,

so I wanna try to finish it out this dive.

It's taking time to get this new operation and this new crew on its feet.

So I'm gonna be extra careful about every move that I make.

My intuition tells me that the gold's gonna be

quite a bit better as we move down this pressure Ridge.

But I don't wanna move until we've gotten

every last flake

from this hole that we're on now.

That's why I'm gonna do it myself.

It's gotta be done really efficiently,

and I'm not sure if the rest of the team

is quite at that level yet.

Hey, how's the vis down there, Zeke?

Yeah, it's really murky right here.

I just gotta scout it out and see where it looks best.

There's a lot of patches of frozen gravel

that are kinda difficult, but...

This is the stuff I like, this gravel.
