Die ersten 200 Zeilen.
We are almost halfway through the gold mining season
and to celebrate, we're gonna spend the night
with my good friend and mining legend, Freddy dodge.
- What's up, Freddy? - Good to see you, christo.
I hear you have a brand-new show coming to discovery+
in the new year. We do, christo.
It's called "Freddy dodge mine rescue."
And it's Juan ibarra, and myself traveling around
helping struggling and new miners out.
Well, Freddy, I can't wait to hear all about it.
Tonight on a special episode of "the dirt"...
Come on in.
I finally convinced Tony and Minnie beets to give US
a taste of what their off-season life is like down in Mexico.
And we're blown away in more ways than one.
Then two legendary miners, Freddy dodge and Juan ibarra,
explain how they're putting years of "gold rush" knowledge
to work...
This is the stupidest ripple system I've ever seen.
Just a pain in the ass.
- Lawnmower power, Juan. - That's it?
Use what you got.
Let's make some gold, guys.
First bucket in! Whoo-hoo!
Load and pay, baby.
In a brand-new discovery+ series...
That's it right there. Tighten it down, please.
Look that that, Freddy.
"Freddy dodge's mine rescue."
This means more to me than that, okay?
Okay.
I couldn't blame you, Freddy.
I wasn't even there and I was shedding a tear.
And I know Juan will agree with me,
but we were very proud of what we did there.
Later, our pal, dozer Dave Turin drops by
to give US the latest on his mining season.
Look around US. We're in the Rockies.
This is gonna be our home for the next three or four months
until winter sets in.
A season that was full of highs...
This roach is gonna make US some money, boys.
And lows.
What we experienced was tragic.
We lost a great friend, one of the team,
and I still haven't dealt with it completely.
This season of lost mine
is the most emotional we've seen yet.
It's gonna be a roller coaster ride.
And finally, I talk to an old friend, Mike Rowe...
So good to see you. It has been quite a while.
Years and years, christo.
About "six degrees" his new wicked smart
discovery+ show.
The question that jumps out. Is Mike Rowe a lot smarter now?
You are, you know, sticking your arm up a cow.
Now you're making these kind of brilliant connections.
By the way, that cow still calls.
A show that's just as deadly...
That's too bad. I like that guy.
As it is hilarious.
Lord have mercy. They put real vodka in this drink.
All of that and more.
Discovery+, the only sensible place
for people with elevated taste.
This is "the dirt."

can you hear him? I can't hear him.
Twice.
- Yeah. - Can you hear me?
Yeah, we can hear you loud and clear, christo.
You can hear me?
Yeah, we can hear you. Can you hear me?
I can hear you
and I'm loving what I'm seeing, by the way.
I'm loving it.
How do you like that?
- I like that, Tony. - You do like that?
Tony and Minnie beets.
It appears you have finally arrived, Minnie,
where you've wanted to be for the past few weeks here, right?
Yep. We are in Mexico.
Wow. This is obviously Mexico.
I see a barefoot Tony beets.
I see Minnie in a dress.
So Minnie, you're finally in your happy place.
- What's it like? - I'm loving it.
It's warm, sometimes almost a little too hot.
Not that I really want to bitch, but...
Really?
But it's really nice to be here.
And it's so relaxing. It's awesome.
All right, guys, we're gonna delve deep
into your Mexican life coming up here,
but we do have to cover off
a little bit of gold mining business.
So, Tony, let me ask, what's been the biggest victory
so far this season?
Is it the old timer tailings
or is it just Mike's success in the cut?
Well, in the old timer tailings
that was a nice little bonus.
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10.
4.22.
That's not. That's very sluicable.
The biggest thing this season was
when we started this spring,
we went down 120 feet without drilling any hole.
So we took a real big chance this year.
Has happened on the end of the day
or so far we're into the season,
my gamble paid off.
What would you say has been the biggest bust
of the season so far? What has not gone well?
Well, the piggy bank, I think,
was a little bit of a disappointment.
Where you've been dumping stuff?
Well, we put overburden 30 years ago.
I had expected to be twice as much material
there as we actually took out.
Pretty much I should've drilled.
Well, yeah. You kind of went against your own advice.
- Yeah, pretty much. - So
I got a little too smart for my own good, I guess.
105.20.
And you made about a 185 on gold so.
You covered your ass.
Now this is not an easy one,
but if you guys had to pick a mid-season mvp,
who would be your most valuable player
so far on the mine this year?
Only one? Can I pick three?
Minnie, you can do whatever you want.
- My kids. - Kids, that's it.
Yeah, because nobody does at all.
I'm the one that look after everything but those people are
in different places taking care of different things for US
and doing a great job with it.
Now, for the first time this season,
I've heard you guys say that paradise hill's
getting a little thin.
Which will come first?
You guys running out of ground or retirement?
No, I think ground-wise we'll be okay.
Retirement, what the heck would you do?
I mean, here we are in Mexico. Minnie is very happy down here.
Me, I wake up bored.
And another thing is, a lot of times
when people retire, they die.
So, we don't want to do that yet.
Well, this is something I've been dreaming
of getting for years now.
A day in the life of Tony and Minnie beets down in Mexico.
Truly unbelievable. Check it out.
When Tony and Minnie aren't mining
the treasures of the Yukon, they spend their time
thawing out in beautiful puerto vallarta, Mexico.
- Hi. - Hey.
- How are you guys? - Good.
Come on in.
I don't like cold anymore.
Tony's not the biggest fan of doing nothing,
but he does have one favorite vacation activity.
Right?
Now, I usually sit in the hot tub,
probably 4 or 5:00 in the morning
when I wake up bored or whatever.
It's kind of nice, it gets cool enough here at night
that it's actually kind of nice to sit in a hot tub.
As funny as it may sound to have a hot tub in Mexico
where it's hot.
Hablas español?
No.
Flowers, the whole thing is flowers.
It's just an amazing sight to see. So beautiful.
- Hola. - Morning.
Yes, barely just got here.
We haven't ordered yet or anything.
- That'll be good. - That's good.
I'll go get something a little cool.
Today already, isn't it?
- To another... - To another...
To another glorious day in paradise.
"Paradisee."
There you go.
Perfect.
Not only a patron of the local establishments,
Minnie also considers herself a connoisseur
of the nearby shops.
- Hey, Laura. How are you? - Yes, how are you today?
- I am great. - Pretty good.
I'm in Mexico, I'm great.
And I'm not gonna buy one of those.
- I'll go outside, okay? - Okay.
I shop here a lot because Marta makes
and her daughter, they make dresses for me,
they make shirts for me.
I'm buying my bathing suits from here.
And I was really worried when I've been here for a week
and this is the first time I've seen it open,
