He was watching already.

I mean, this place is pretty unmistakable.

I mean, we know it's old.

It's, like, 1850s, right?

Yeah. It was built in 1856.

Adam and I are in brooksville, florida,

at a plantation home more than 150 years old.

The city converted it into a historical museum

in the early 1980s.

Now tour guides and volunteers are reporting dark activity

and worry it will only get worse.

Basically, it's called the may-stringer house

because john may built it, and he died in the house.

And then dr. Stringer added onto it,

so, like, the right side here of the house...

Right. ...This was built in 1856,

and then this side is where dr. Stringer added on,

so all of this is an addition.

He turned it into this grand mansion.

Right, and he had a practice here, yeah?

He did. He saw patients in the house.

The doctor died in the house.

I mean, this place has been reported to be haunted

since, like, the '80s,

ever since they turned it into a museum.

Now, the person we're seeing is autumn,

and she's been a tour guide here for a year.

I mean, she's been pushed, scratched.

She's heard voices.

I mean, she's seen things all over the house.

And she feels like it's kind of out to get her.

I think she's on the verge of calling it quits.

Well, I mean, if the activity is

that crazy where people are afraid

to come to their workplace, that's a problem.

Yeah, and, you know, we need to make sure

it's a safe place for them. I don't know.

I just want to be able to ease their fears.

Right.

To make things kind of harder for us, you know,

there's a collection of 11,000 artifacts here.

They're all antiques.

They're brought here from residents all the time.

They give them as donations.

Yeah.

It's hard to figure out the stories on each of these.

There's a number of items already that they suspect

might have some sort of, like, haunted energy around them.

I think it's up to us to try to narrow down

what in this building

could be causing the more extreme activity.

So was it always known as the may-stringer house,

or is that the name you guys gave to it?

Some called it the may house.

Some called it the stringer house.

We now call it the may-stringer house.

Okay, and to be clear, may was the first owner.

Stringer was the second owner.

Correct, and frank saxon was in between them.

Okay. Frank saxon.

So the may family built the structure,

and then john may passed away shortly after.

Marena stayed here with their two children

for several years

before frank saxon came back from the civil war,

and he married her.

Our amberola, which is over on the wall over there,

sometimes, when we do play it,

it just takes on a very eerie feeling.

So what kind of activity happens when you play that?

Is it just the feeling, or is there other things happening?

for me, personally, it's just the feeling.

this was from, like, what time period?

Early 1900s.

This would've been one of the first things

that they would've been able to hear human singing on.

I mean, I could totally see

how that would trigger something.

This gives me the heebie-jeebies.

When I have people come in on tours, more often than not,

I can tell they're uncomfortable in here.

There's been one time

where somebody had to remove herself from the tour.

and then again for marena and frank saxon.

Marena passed away giving birth to little jessie may.

And then little jessie may passed away at age 3

from unknown causes, also in the house.

We have a story that goes along with the baby.

She is very old.

Somebody had come to appraise her,

and when they brought her back up, they laid her here...

...Instead of in the crib.

Well, the next tour came up, and the crib was dismantled.

Really?

Yes. It had just come apart.

What's wild to me

is that the things that are happening here

aren't just minor, little experiences.

You're having cribs dismantled. Yes.

You're having people that are feeling uneasy in a space.

It almost sounds like there's constant activity

happening all the time.

There is, quite literally, constant activity.

When I first started, I had no idea

the gravity of what happens here.

I've seen more, I feel like,

in this house in less than a year

than I have ever seen in my entire life.

You have massive amounts of activity

happening on the first two floors,

and still, the attic is the worst place?

The attic is the worst. The attic is -- hands down.

I will not go in the attic alone.

I had another guide with me at the time,

and I felt my back burning,

and I just thought it was weird at the time.

I almost didn't say anything,

and I mentioned to her, I said, "my back is burning."

and she said, "let me take a look."

and she gasped and pointed,

and there was a very big scratch there.
