A meager life at the wretched concentration camp begins to cause pangs of hunger.

ACT TWO

After torturous days of marching among the unhappy prisoners...

he is given shelter in the workshop of an old miller.

The presence of the hateful guards provokes..

an intolerable itching in the hands of Maciste.

Half an hour later.

Lost in the night. A light. A hope.

It is the Castle of Pratolungo, a beautiful eighteenth century building.

Giorgio Lanfranchi, whose national pride pushes him to enlist as a volunteer...

among the Italian soldiers, wishes to cross the border that very night.

He says goodbye to his betrothed Giulietta and her uncle, the Count of Pratolungo.
