I'm happy at home. Yeah, I kind of like it.

Let's start it off.

Where are all of you guys?

Parker, let's start with you.

I'm home with the parents And my dog and my friends.

And I haven't been home Since march,

So it's pretty nice.

Rick, are you in a gym Or your living room?

I'm in my living room.

I just got home A little less than a week ago.

And tony looks like you're still Up in the klondike right?

Yeah, we're still up On the claims.

We just wrapped up it yesterday.

So still going hang around for a Couple days tidy some things up.

And then we're Outta here I guess.

Alright. Well, let's get into it here.

We are about four episodes Into "Gold rush,".

Lot has happened already.

But by far, the biggest story This season, so far,

Is that we have a fourth Mine boss, fred lewis.

Fred, I got to tell, you know, The last time

I saw you, You were a medic.

In "Parker's trail" In australia.

Think you're ready For the wash plant?

And here you are.

You're one of the on bosses. What led to this?

I've paying attention The last three years,

I've been working with parker.

And covid kind of Screwed me over.

With getting across the border.

So I just figured I'd give it A shot for myself.

Parker, how did this All go down?

I mean, fred was in a car With you in australia.

And now he's mining in oregon. What's the back story there?

You know this summer. We were both having a hard time.

Getting people across the border And out to the claim.

And fred just, I guess, Didn't, didn't make it.

Tony, do you think fred Has a long uphill battle.

Ahead of him being I'm as green as he is?

Hey, it all depends on The people he employs.

Company is only as good as the People he employs.

So if he picks right He should be okay.

And rick, what about you?

Were you shocked to see That fred was going to.

Venture out on his own.

Yeah, I suppose a little bit But good for him.

You know, why the hell not?

That's that's The whole point of life.

Just go for it. Right?

Well, we may have caught you Saying something,

Fred, that you might regret. Let's take a look.

I've been open and forefront With parker since this started,

I told him my intentions And he's been supportive.

The entire time.

Enough gold for me Would probably be.

It would just be beating parker.

So it's not even about the gold, It's just about beating parker?

Yeah, I just want to beat parker.

Just a little Friendly competition.

You know, he's the best There is right now,

I wouldn't mind Being the best.

Parker, is fred Ever going to beat you?

Um.

No.

No, that's just a no. He's never going to beat you.

That what you're saying? Pretty much.

I heard fred say this on some Interview somewhere.

About like he wants to build A really cohesive team.

Because he hasn't seen That anywhere else.

Thing I'm looking forward to the Most about my first season.

As a mine boss is really Working with the team.

That's something I've missed Since the military.

And other mining operations.

I don't see The tight-knit brotherhood.

That I like to see, And I think that's something.

That I'm really trying To bring to the mine.

And I took that As a bit of a slight.

That's not our role When you're running a mine site.

It's a luxury That you can't afford.

Difficult decisions Have to get made.

And people who suck have To get fired.

And people who suck have To get told that they suck.

And, and I've all I've Always embraced that fact.

And I work with friends Right now.

That are that are That are very dear friends.

Doumitt, you got this? Yes, sir.

But if they up I'm like,

Like, why aren't you Thinking today?

Shut it down now!

For sake.

You know, where did you Leave your brain back at camp?

Do you need to, like, Go home for a week.

And go find where... You find your brain?

Because you can't afford That kind of stuff.

I don't know. Tony, What do you think about that?

Me? I think It's pretty simple.

I only have three things.

I mean, in short, Me and the business come first.

Me and the business Come second,

And you know what third, still Not your turn,

That's all how that works.

Otherwise it does not It's not going to happen.

Anybody that's mining should Be able to make money in 2020.

And if you can't, you should Pack your and go home.

Because gold price is through The roof, fuel price is low.

And you can probably afford.

To like not be too strict With the business.

But tony remembers when gold Price was all you know?

Fred, I think this is the hazing.

That I was hoping To have here at the table.

So I agree with Everything they're saying.

I'm not calling out Their teams at all.

I'm just making comparisons To like a special forces oda.

I've been in deployments before Where we're stuck 13 months,

You know, away from home, 24-hour days.

You get like two hours of sleep A night where it's 12 dudes.

And that's all they do Is work together,

They train together, They party together,

And they kick ass together.

A lot of people Wouldn't understand.

How tight-knit you become.

When you work In those environments.

And I want to bring that To the mine.

Doesn't mean anything About the seriousness.

Of what we how we take What we're doing.

It's a completely Different feeling.

Than if you're Running a mine

24 hour shifts seven days A week,

Granted you're going To find a lot of gold.

But it's more than that To me.

But it won't be more than That when you lose money.

And you have to find out How to figure out.

How to pay your mortgage Or else you and your wife.

Are going to not have a home.

You got no money To pay your friends.

They won't be friends very long.

No, it's good good advice,

I agree, but I'm going To agree to disagree.

Now parker, I still love you.

Well, look you guys All have something.

Working in your favor This season,

Gold price is through The roof and fuel is down.

How big a deal is it gold mining At this stage in the game?

You know, having got that New license for the other ground.

That we're leasing from Ken tatlow and stewart.

Is a big driver for us Because we've made.

A huge investment down there.

And now we're able to start, You know,

Mining that ground That stripped.

For this season things are lined Up really well for us. Yeah.

And we've got a great Group of guys and girls.

And they just... Everybody knows their role.

And a little bit too well.

The film crews out on our site.

Were struggling That's for sure.

It's not too much excitement At a well-run gold mine.

Yeah, that's always A problem, right?

We want you to be Not quite so good.
