An Elizabeth South family

has told of the shocking moment

a police patrol car plowed into their home.

Witnesses say the vehicle became airborne

moments before the collision.

An investigation has now been launched.

- They're called in to all kinds of emergencies,

but today, police responded to one of their own,

a patrol car in the front bedroom

of an Elizabeth South home.

Police say two officers were patrolling the area

just before 11 o'clock this morning,

when they spotted a man and woman arguing

out the front of their home on Underdown Road.

Police say they'll now look at a number of factors,

including half after the patrol car was traveling at

and whether its brakes failed in the lead up to the crash.

The two officers involved

are experienced policemen and have have provided statements.

The driver was breath tested for alcohol

and returned a negative reading.

The vehicle will now be examined

as part of the investigation.

And General Motors Holden's is pretty big business

in very pleasant surroundings.

In the Elizabeth factory alone,

over 1500 people are employed on two shifts.

And shortly, this factory will cover

one million square feet of working area.

There's certainly employment opportunity

and skilled labor in particular

is always in demand in this country.
