This is hans' investigation into the ayers-allen house

In metuchen, new jersey.

I've never heard of it.

Well, not a lot of people have.

My father was the only one to investigate it,

And I only know about it because he talked about it all the time,

And it nagged him until the day he died.

The house was built by jonathan ayers in 1740,

And it was passed on through his family

Until it was purchased by a local schoolteacher

Named louise king and her husband,

Samuel, in 1947.

Louise was hearing mysterious knocking all around the house.

Then she started waking up night after night

With a full body apparition standing over her bed

Just staring at her,

And then it would disappear into thin air,

And this went on and on and on.

What did hans find when he investigated?

Well, he went there on March 6th, 1960,

Along with his trance medium, ethel meyers,

And they did a seance there.

Do we have more tape on that?

We do.

Unfortunately.

What did hans make of that?

He wrote that there were layers of hauntings

Still active in the house from its long history,

But he also believed that there was something dark there,

Something that was influencing the other spirits.

Well, alex, your dad used to go in and clear the spirits.

Did he do that on this investigation?

No. The king family would not allow it.

Wait a minute. Why would they invite him in

And then stop him from completing the investigation?

Well, he never found out.

Well, who lives there now?

It's the reuter family.

Are they aware of this dark haunting?

Yeah, I spoke with them.

They've been experiencing paranormal activity in the home

Ever since they moved in, in 1998.

Really? Yeah.

In my opinion, they have this unusual attachment to the house.

The whole family does.

Unfortunately, this sounds like mrs. King.

I mean, she found out that the haunting was there

And didn't want it cleared.

I think we need to meet with the reuter family.

They're less than an hour from here.

I'll give them a call.

This is a strange one.

Why would mrs. King reach out to hans holzer for help

And then refuse to let him cleanse the house?

Now almost 60 years later,

I'm hoping that tyreen reuter and her family

Will accept our help so that we can continue the work

That hans never got to finish.

The house is almost 300 years old? Yes.

It was built in 1740, has a lot of history

And also has a reputation for being haunted.

I can't tell you how many people

I've met that have bought a house known to be haunted

Because they thought it would be fun.

Where do you want to take me first?

The staircase.

It usually doesn't turn out that way.

We had just closed on buying the house,

And I was working on getting these all open.

They were painted shut. Some of them were nailed shut.

I started to have a lot of negative feelings about,

"well, maybe this was a mistake.

Maybe we shouldn't have bought this house."

And suddenly, window flies open, flies shut,

And my fingers are stuck from the knuckle below.

I made the connection that maybe I should be

A little bit more careful about what I say

Or what kind of energy I generate about the house.

So you have, and I don't mean this impolitely,

But there's, like, this deep, weird connection

Between you and the house.

We do what's better for the house than necessarily for us.

I was here alone washing dishes,

And I heard very distinctly the sound of marbles

Being poured into a glass jar.

It was right about in this area here.

There was nothing that could explain it.

You obviously now have a bottle

With marbles sitting in that spot.

These marbles that we found throughout the house

Over the last 21 years we've collected and...

Wait a minute.

So these marbles are marbles

You've found throughout the house?

Yes.

Where have you found the marbles?

Everywhere. Every single room.

Would you being doing something and all of a sudden

There was a marble, and it hadn't been there

The day or week or month before?

Not that we'd seen, no.

And in fact, the last couple of weeks, we found a couple.

Residual energy could explain the sound

Of marbles rattling in a jar,

But you can't account for dozens of them

Appearing out of nowhere.

It feels like someone or something

Is trying to get tyreen's attention.

I never really feel alone here,

And the change in me since moving here is very distinct.

I'm not the same person that I was.

I have no desire to ever leave this house.

Sounds a lot like the family that hans holzer came to visit.

Mrs. King and mr. King, samuel and louise.

Mrs. King lived here for many years.

She was known to be protective of the ghost.

She died here in 1997 in my bedroom,

The same place where I sleep every night,

And then we bought the house.

There's a lot going on.

Now I have got original notes from hans holzer.

I also have an audio recording that was made

In this house 59 years ago...

...When hans holzer and ethel, the medium that he worked with,

Held a seance in the living room.

Very odd at first, but I have a reason, okay?

Now when I came into this room with you,

I was smacked right between the eyes with something.

Hanging on your wall, you have four mugs and one small mug.

That's crazy.

When I hung those mugs there, I just thought it felt right.

Makes me kind of wonder what guided me to do that.

This is tying together many of hans' theories

That these hauntings are happening

Past, present, future, all at the same time.

Ethel was looking through the window from 1960

To now to give us something to connect with

So that we're all together in the same experience.

I'd like to do a more extensive investigation of this house.

That would be fine.

I would say to you what mrs. King said

To mr. Holzer, which is you're welcome to come in,

But please be careful of my ghost.

Tyreen obviously has a very powerful attachment

To this house.

She protects it and whoever or whatever is still inside

Just like mrs. King did, and as hans holzer always said,

There's no such thing as coincidence.

We're dealing with residual energy, potential apportation

And maybe even remote viewing from over 50 years ago.

So tonight we'll conduct a baseline investigation,

And our psychic medium, cindy,

Will give her initial impressions

On what's going on here.

She knows absolutely nothing about hans' investigation here.

It's going to be really interesting to see

What she picks up on.

This is so weird.

There's so much going on here.

Really feel, like, pulled right in the center of this carpet,

And it's so weird because...

This is going to sound kind of crazy, but I keep seeing

This tree, like, breaking through the ground

And going up through the center of the floor.

What do you see?

It's really weird.

I see feet dangling from the tree.

That's absolutely insane.

Somebody was hanged from the tree.

Somebody was hanged from the tree.

But I can just see the shoes.

It's really weird.

This is crazy.

Cindy is picking up on this tree

That makes no sense to her right in the middle of this house.
