as the site of the Vietnamese peace talks.

A White House spokesman indicated President Johnson

was enthusiastic and hopeful that the talks

would result in an end to the hostilities and an honorable peace in Southeast Asia.

It registered 1.2 on the Richter scale, but no serious damage was reported.
