نخستین 184 خط.
While the nations of the world
waged a fierce war of information in the shadows,
two were particularly at odds.
Ostania in the east, and Westalis in the west.
To keep an eye on a certain Ostanian leader
and his plans for war, Westalis began
a top-secret mission called “Operation Strix.”
The agent in charge of this plan
is known as Twilight.
This master of disguise was assigned
an identity most foreign to him,
that of a family man.
The father, Loid Forger, is a psychiatrist.
His true identity: a spy.
Code name: Twilight.
The mother, Yor Forger,
is a civil servant at city hall.
Her true identity: assassin.
Code name: Thorn Princess.
The daughter, Anya Forger, is a grade school student.
Her true identity: mind reading telepath.
And the “family” dog, Bond Forger.
His true identity: a canine clairvoyant.
Each member of this fraudulent family
has their own secrets,
and, thus, must continue
to hide their true selves from each other
and the world at large.
BERLINT PANIC
Nummy in my tummy!
Anya, better slow down on that ice cream
unless you want a tummy ache.
This won’t hurt me, Papa,
‘cause it’s my three-scoop special!
Are you sure about that?
Watch yourself, Bond.
Chocolate is poisonous to dogs,
so make sure you don’t lick that one.
Uh-oh, Anya,
you've got ice cream all over your mouth.
Thank you.
Hmm.
Hey, Yor!
Word is, the apple pudding
from that stall there is to die for.
Do want me to get you some?
Oh, that sounds delicious.
There’s always a chance
that we’re being surveilled.
So, for the sake of the mission,
we need to present ourselves as an average, happy family.
Okay, now we’ll go...
Um...
Look, Papa, that man there has a whole bunch of balloons!
I wanna get some and fly up in the sky!
Come on, Bond.
- -Please be careful, Anya.
- -
Huh?
What’s wrong, Bond?
There was a bad guy
going nutso on some tanky-looking thing.
Probably shouldn’t, but I want ice cream.
...I’m gonna tell her how I feel.
Damn it. Look at all those jerks
walkin’ around without a care in the world.
What bullshit!
And here I am
being forced to work on my only day off.
No one even helpin’ me.
Such a crock of shit!
They wanna hound me for my “bad attitude?”
I don't get paid enough for this kind of shit!
And the last thing I wanna do is look at all these schmucks
getting to screw around all day.
To hell with ‘em! Why do I gotta be the one
who’s stuck clearing out rubble at the site?
Ugh, damn it, damn it, damn it!
These people don’t deserve to live!
He's really mad. Must be a bad guy.
What's wrong? You give up on the balloons?
-You okay, Anya? -
I have to go and stop the bad-guy-looking guy.
But I can't let Papa and Mama know
that I could read his mind.
Well?
Um, I think we should go back home now.
What? You’re already done?
But we practically just got here.
This is odd. She was running around
without a care in the world a moment ago.
Did the ice cream upset her stomach?
Is something troubling her? What could it be?
Well, uh... Oh!
I wanna go home and study!
That way, I can get a whole bunch of Stellas!
Uh...
Hmm. Wow, Anya. You’re such a good student
that you want to study on your day off?
I see, well...
I guess she's finally gotten motivated.
I can't let this opportunity go to waste.
Then let's all go home.
Cool!
Nice. I was able to trick Papa ‘cause I’m a genius.
- -
I don’t see the bad guy.
Where did he go to?
Hey, Anya, you seem a bit anxious.
Oh, my teacher said
there's lots of stuff to study out in the city.
So that's what I'm doing right now.
Sounds good.
I’d expect no less from a professor at Eden.
Encouraging observation of the world outside the classroom
and noting the importance of field work.
Let me know if you're curious about anything you might see.
Okie-dokie.
That's the bad-guy-looking guy!
He got into the tanky thing!
He really was a bad guy!
What's wrong?
Hey, Papa,
do construction worker guys not get to take any days off?
No, I'm fairly certain that they do.
In fact, there've been some reforms
in regard to their work environment, lately.
- But look. - Uh?
Guess he is working on his day off.
Rather pronounced dark circles under his eyes.
Judging by his pallid, yet irritated complexion
and the hollowness of his cheeks,
he must be under a lot of stress.
Is he not getting enough time off?
Another thing.
Seems he’s demolishing the place.
But he’s moving on to the outer walls
without finishing the interior.
Is there even a foreman on site?
He’s going about it so haphazardly.
He seems likely to cause a huge accident.
I don’t like this.
- -Ah! Damn it!
To hell with this!
I knew this would happen.
I need you all to stay right here!
- Papa? -Loid, wait!
Yeah! This is what happens
when you treat a man like he’s lower than scum!
He’s driving that excavator
towards the park.
I have to stop him before someone gets hurt!
But how?
I could throw a rock to knock him out.
But it’s going to be extremely difficult
to get a clean shot at him.
Oh.
I can hot-wire it.
Here we go!
Huh? What in the...
You saw me, so you’d better stop!
Get the hell out of my way!
Very well, then.
Whoa! Papa’s having a tank battle!
-Pow! Pow! Pow! -
- -
Now, Anya!
I need you and Bond to step back a little.
- - Uh?
Oh, dear.
Huh? Mama!
Missed you by a hair’s breadth.
Yeah, I’m lucky enough
to still have all my hair and good breath.
Right, little Maron?
I'm so glad you're okay.
Mama! Wow! That was a super acrobat save!
Oh, I saw that move at the circus
and practiced it myself a few times, luckily!
Strength’s evenly matched.
But skill?
Please, get some sleep.
You're clearly overworked.
The Forger family saved the world’s peace again!
