Love says

that may one take pride in one's child

whereas attachment says

that may one's child take pride in his parent.

Love gives liberation, Revered Guru

while attachment binds oneself.

Love is righteous, Revered Guru, whereas attachment.

Attachment is unrighteous.

Upon seeing your son drink rice flour mixed with water

you were rendered disenchanted.

In its place

had you taught your son to be contented

with the rice flour mixture

and instead of getting disenchanted

had you taught him to struggle in order to obtain something

would your situation not have been different today?

In your attempts to brighten your son's future

you forgot to brighten

his character.

Because of your attachment

the righteousness in his life was completely destroyed!

Greed, fear

and avarice are the things you taught your son.

The truth is, because of this very attachment

you could never become a true guru.

You

were reduced to nothing but a teacher!

Why are you saying that, Vasudev?

All my life, I have tried to make all my disciples excel

by putting in nothing but complete and utter dedication.

A guru is one who imparts knowledge as charity!

He never treats knowledge as trade!

That is why, a guru expects

a minor fee from his disciples.

He does not ascertain any value!

However, you ascertained a value

for your invaluable knowledge!

In exchange of your knowledge

by asking your disciples to seek revenge

not only did you poison your own life

but also that of your disciples!

And all this

happened because of your attachment and arrogance!

You are not a guru, Dronacharya!

A person who houses arrogance in his mind

and attachment and avarice in his heart

can never engage in any righteous deed.

That is why, oh son of Great Sage Bharadwaj

the way a person drowning in a flood holds on to a tree

in order to protect himself

similarly in your end moments

you need to hold on to righteousness!

Today is the time

to take the correct decision!

Let go of attachment!

I can take your life this instant!

However, it is my wish

to see you take one correct decision in your life

on your own.
