Death Walker - First Season

Last week on "Death Walker."

What you're really seeing is just someone in the past.

And somehow, you're on some kind of weird doorway

where you can see each other.

Energy can never be destroyed.

It can only change form.

So if somebody dies here, that energy is released.

It's not eliminated.

It's not destroyed, you know?

So what happens to it?

I just--

It's saying something like "six killed."

Did you die?

My journey has led me around the world

to some of the most haunted locations,

searching for answers from the other side.

A supernatural energy has sparked at the Willis House

Inn in Willis, Michigan, and to the Orson Starr House

in Royal Oak, Michigan.

The Willis House Inn is currently

undergoing renovations, while the Orson Starr House has been

restored throughout the years.

By witnessing paranormal activity at these two

locations, I believe this could add

some credence as to how altering an environment

can intensify a haunting.

I will investigate the mysteries behind the walls

while further attempting to document evidence

to better understand who these spirits are

and their intentions.

Is the energy from the past replaying,

or is something else haunting these locations,

lurking in the darkness of these building's basements?

Join me as I investigate new theories of the unknown.

We were talking to the house.

And we so we realize there's been

a lot of sadness, a lot of sorrow of the people

that were here.

Real crazy stuff happened with spirits that

caused the exorcisms to happen.

The Albin family built this house in 1856

and later added an addition in 1872.

The Albins sold the house to Charles and Louisa Finney

In 1919, Charles Finney died of endocarditis while sitting

in his chair in the parlor.

Louisa was left in a state of shock

after watching her husband die in front of her

and rumored to be invalid, as he was not there to care for her.

She died one week later of a brain hemorrhage.

Their daughter sold the house to the Martz

family, who ran a Detroit brewing company

during the Prohibition Era.

In 1968, the Martz family donated the house

to the Catholic church, who added this second edition

and turned the house into a home for unwed teenage girls.

The house was bought by the Schrock family

in the early '80s.

Ms. Schrock ran the house as an adult foster care home

that housed about 22 people.

In the late '90s, she sold the house to one of her employees,

who changed the home into a traumatic brain

injury facility.

It was during the change of hands

that the haunting became sinister.

Some of the children of the owners

lived in the home and experienced extreme paranormal

phenomena, including levitation, non-human creatures,

and hearing voices.

Two exorcisms have been performed in the house

before the owner had a stroke around 2005.

And then, her son attempted to run the house,

but the state closed the property in 2006.

The house was sold in 2007, and then it was gutted.

It sat vacant for five years, until Don and Sherry purchased

the house in mid-September in 2012

and continued to renovate the house into a bed-and-breakfast.

So did you notice a difference when

the activities started getting worse or better

when you were renovating?

We've been renovating since we bought the house

because it was gutted.

But I think when we first started,

we probably had a little bit more.

We had thought about being a bed-and-breakfast

before we knew it was haunted.

Yeah.

Because I do hypnosis.

And I thought, well, we can do metaphysical weekends

and it would be fun.

And I thought, well, I need to know who's here before we

start inviting people in.

It's almost like, I like to say the others.

The others are here, meaning somebody lived here prior

to you two coming in.

They passed away.

I - didn't believe in ghosts

until we were bringing our furniture in

to sell the other house.

And as I'm going out at night, I reach for the door handle.

And from this room, I hear, good night.

When we first were in here,

we were hearing voices.

I heard somebody tell me good night.

I heard a child's voice behind me

go "mommy," like when they want to show you something.

We would hear stuff-- like, we'd be downstairs sleep,

and we'd hear upstairs, it would sound like a whole load

of drywall would go thump!

And we'd go up in the morning and nothing's out of place.

So it's hearing things fall and being touched.

I felt like somebody touched my head one day.

I felt like when I was in the kitchen,

somebody touched me on the back.

What about in this room?

We don't like this room to sleep in ourselves.

We slept back here last summer for about a month.

And we'd wake up in the middle night with this strong fear

and dread.

But I thought it was just me, and then he said,

no, I'm waking up with it too.

And we'd tell them, please just let us sleep.

Sometimes, it worked.

Sometimes, it didn't.

And I'm standing about where this window here is.

And while I'm sitting there talking to them,

there's a fireball, shot down the length of the room.

About as big as round as my fist.

And it got down to about right here where I was at.

And it goes, pow, and it just--

was gone.

And we all looked at each other, going, what the hell was that?

How many people passed away in this house?

We know of 14.

Do they haunt this house still?

We have several of the family, the immediate family.

And then beyond the immediate family,

we have some of the workers that worked for him here also.

The oldest house in Royal Oak, Michigan,

was built by Orson Starr in 1845.

Orson was among a wave of settlers that

came to the area in the 1830s and began manufacturing bricks

and cowbells in a factory located north

from where the house resides.

The cowbells products of Royal Oak's first industry

were stamped with Starr's trademark,

and they're now prized by collectors.

Orson continued this trade up until 1871.

Five generations of the Starr family

lived inside the house up until 1964.

The city bought the house from the family in 1976

and turned it into a museum.

The house is said to be haunted by numerous spirits,

including a very angry old man who resides in the basement.

The spirit of an older woman named Catherine has

been seen sitting in a chair.

And the apparition of a German shepherd

has also been seen in the coal chute.

The sounds of children laughing and playing in the upstairs

area is heard frequently by visitors

and paranormal investigators.

The museum caretakers informed me

that these children's spirits that reside upstairs

do not do well with men.

They do better with women.

I find this interesting, since people have claimed they've

been touched upstairs, while others claim they've

been pushed down the stairs.

Could this be the ghost of Orson Starr being

protective of the children?

Or could these children's spirits

be something else entirely?

This is where I've seen the shadow figure.

And many people have seen a shadow figure.

What makes this backroom so special

is this is actually the furniture of the Starr family.

All this is original?

Yes. - Wow.

And this bible is their son's bible.

You know what's weird

about this room is my ears feel like I just went into--

Popping?

a submarine.

Like, everything feels--

It's like a void.

It is.

It's totally like a void.

I feel like I'm just.

And this was part of the original house,

so I don't know why it does that for me too.

So you've seen a shadow come

out of this closet and move--

Across, across. - -- this direction?

Yes.

Well, the nursery has always been a child's room.

We get toys moving.

On occasions, you will find like even this has been rolled.

The kids like to really hang out in the closet the most.

And that's where you'll get a lot of great EVPs.
