the rockslide at Åkerneset in the Geiranger Fjord...

that resulted in an 80-meter-high tsunami.

248 lives were lost in this brutal encounter with the forces of nature.

And we have heard powerful stories...

of courage, compassion and survival.

But also questions about what we as a society...

could have done to prevent such a disaster.

And not least: If something similar can happen again.

The Geiranger Commission presented its report this week.

What is your procedure, as a scientist,

when searching for meaning, for answers after such an incident?

When we are struck by forces of nature, we are struck blindly.

Unfortunately, no one can say exactly...

when or where an earthquake will strike.

And particularly a small quake like the one that triggered the rockslide in Geiranger.

Based on that knowledge, should anyone live there at all?

Those are extremely difficult assessments to make.

But we can't live in constant fear.

Because we can't govern nature.

some information regarding the serious accident.

It was quickly established that two lives were lost.

The Oslofjord Tunnel is now closed in both directions...

and it is not known when it will reopen.

There are 32 subsea tunnels in Norway...

with a steeper gradient than the Oslofjord Tunnel,

but many have complained that this one is too steep.

The identities of the two deceased have now been confirmed.

They are Inga Hansen and Konrad Lindblom.

Their next of kin have been notified.

Lindblom worked as a geologist for Norsar.

He was allegedly not involved with the ongoing construction work in the tunnel.

Our reporter Mats Andersen arrived at the scene shortly after the incident.

There have been many accidents in the Oslofjord Tunnel.

Now two people have died in there.

And this after many people have demanded it be shut down for good.

We are not allowed inside the tunnel, but what we know,
