This is an ancient Chinese fairy tale of a traveling musician, born at a time when China was ruled by cruel and greedy mandarins.
Who are you, that you don't bow for me?
I am the happy rover Mu, where I come wandering, people rejoice!
I bow only to good people.
Take this man who grows rice. For him I bow.
And I bow to him, who catches fish for people.
And to him who make such useful pots and jugs.
For what should I bow down to you, mandarin?
Off with his head!
Ay-ay-ay, stupid guards, look!
And for now: Farewell, my friends.
Why are you leaving?
There are so many roads in China I haven't traveled yet.
Someday I will surely come back to you.
Stay here, you brought us such joy, and you have helped us to lift our head.
With you live's Joy will leave us.
No! No! It will stay with you. Look!
My yellow stork, amuse the crowd and make them very proud
Never fidget and not ever bow to a piping master loud!
You were drawn by Mu the flautist man
So dance to a merry flute if you can you folks of honest belief
Let our musician, hilarious Mu bring you his storks relief
So dance to a merry flute if you can you folks of honest belief
My yellow stork, amuse the crowd and make them very proud
Never fidget and not ever bow to a piping master loud!
In this world there lived a man a Chinese Mandarin
