But he had already lost his sight.

The family was at a loss.

But there was no need to worry.

Kuri could find things by the tiniest sounds, or air movements.

He was playing and running around like a champ!

Stairs were no problem.

He lives without letting his disability beat him.

He is an inspiration to the family.

Two years ago, he was hit by illness again.

When he developed diabetes.

His blood sugar level was critical - four times the normal.

Now he goes for tests once a month.

Eldest daughter Eriko takes him to the vet.

Every four months he has to have treatment.

Soon the daily routine begins

The treatment is tough and makes Kuri get thin.

The vet and the family have got used to this.

But a miracle has happened.

Kuri has beaten the illness.
