Gold Rush: Dave Turin's Lost Mine

We're back at lynx creek in arizona.

We came off our best season ever in colorado

'cause we got over 400 ounces gold.

Now we're here for four weeks.

And, I need a little under 100 ounces.

To get over our million-dollar season.

So, I'm excited.

But I need to keep looking ahead into our future,

And there's only one place I know we can really hit it big.

And that place is alaska.

So this gold right here.

Is from fox creek.

Coarse nuggets. Big nuggets.

That's the big gold.

That's what excites me.

But with the gold so high, ground is hard to find.

Might be gone by the time I get up there in the spring.

So I need to move fast.

My window of opportunity is going like this.

Winter in alaska will win.

So, we really have the keys to their kingdom.

We can prospect and mine anywhere on this ground.

So that's exciting.

Dave is sharing the ground with a rock crushing operation,

Who are currently in the process.

Of stripping out the main channel of lynx creek.

Well, these are dozer tracks,

And it's a very recent.

There's sand and gravel operation right next door.

So they're in here trying to get the rock out of here.

They run this up, they'll load it in,

Put it in their crusher and crush it.

But I'm looking for the gold.

Gold was first discovered in lynx creek in 1863.

And it soon became the most productive gold bearing stream in arizona,

Producing 51,500 ounces over the next 40 years.

Today, worth nearly $98 million dollars.

So that's what we're always looking for.
