Le prime 200 righe.
For a little thing, I sure have to use a big bowl.
Last time we saw big...
It's a big challenge. It's go big or go home.
...and small desserts.
Those macarons are better than mine.
Leia and Kiera took the top spot.
It's a lot of peppermint.
And Jovie and Lenore said goodbye.
Now, this challenge will determine who makes it into the finale.
I want to make it to the finale
more than I wanted to make it to the semifinals, obviously.
- (GASPS) What, there's nothing. - Oh no.
It's a massive TV.
What is this...?
- What in the-- - What is that?
- (GASPS) - Huh?
What is that?
We walk into the kitchen,
Kardea is holding a plate with a slice of toast.
Duff is holding a protein shake.
If we had to make protein shakes,
I make, like a protein shake for myself every single day.
I would crush that.
Hey, you guys, welcome to the semifinals!
Woo! (APPLAUSE)
Congratulations.
Can you believe
- you made it this far? - Wow.
We are in the semifinals, and this is the most important week
in the competition so far.
We baked our hearts out, and I hope we make it to the finals.
Hey, can you guys guess what I am?
- A protein shake. - Water?
A baker.
I'm a baker with a shaker.
Oh!
And what do you guys think that makes me?
I don't rhyme very well.
I'm a host with toast.
Ah!
- Oh. - That one's funny.
Now, if our character names feel familiar,
that's because they're in honour of the movie The Cat in the Hat.
- Ooh. - Okay.
In the film, the Cat in the Hat brings joy to
as many children as possible.
- Yeah. - Yeah.
With the help of some animal coworkers
at the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration.
There's Pig in a Wig, Bug in a Mug,
Yak with the Pack and Giraffe with a Carafe.
So, for today's challenge, you will create your own animal helper.
Think about what special way your character can bring joy to kids.
Okay, I can do this.
And don't forget, your critter needs to have a fun rhyming name.
All right, teams, we are giving you two and a half hours
to make a Cat in the Hat helper dessert,
that's a sweet treat and fun to eat.
And your baking time starts...
- Now. - Now.
- Run, run, run, run. - Okay.
Okay, so I think we should do like a frog on um--
We should do like a log,
- frog on a log. - Oh yeah, a frog on a log.
So, I think we should do yeti with confetti.
That's cute, yeti with confetti.
That is kind of cute.
You are caramel apple pie.
Okay.
We should do leave to be with the key.
What do you think we should do for the decoration?
For the bees and stuff?
Fondant.
What do we do for the key?
Snake with a rake.
Okay, well, cheesecake.
- Like a no bake cheesecake. - What about like, cream puffs.
- Cream puff snake. - And then like a cream puff snake
on top.
Today's challenge is inspired by the new Cat in the Hat movie.
This is really cool.
We have to create our own animal helper,
inspired by Cat in the Hat's helpers.
If we're going to get all of this done,
it has to be fast and it has to be good.
We are doing snake with a rake.
The snake with the rake helps people with their gardens,
because a lot of people don't know how to garden,
and don't have the right resources.
We are making a lemon cheesecake with raspberry filled cream puffs
arranged like a snake, and then it's going to be decorated like a garden.
I love snakes, I think they're so cool.
Our grandma's deathly terrified of them.
I don't really like them.
But, you know, on the other hand, they're pretty cool.
Kenny, do you think this looks good?
- Um, oh yeah. - I'm doing a no bake
cheesecake, just FYI.
Got it.
I want to do a no bake cheesecake because
I think it's much lighter than a baked cheesecake.
You can move a bit, please.
And also, to have a baked cheesecake bake for a long time,
cool down, just making sure that there's enough time.
I'm stealing all the cream cheese, so I'm sorry if you need any.
No, we don't need none? What are you guys making?
Cheesecake.
Yum.
To make the filling, I beat together cream cheese,
sour cream and powdered sugar,
and then I add in lemon juice, lemon extract and some lemon zest.
Good lemon.
Beat heavy cream until it has stiff peaks with the gelatin,
and then fold the cream cheese mixture
and the whipped cream mixture together.
I do make cheesecake with my mom.
That's her favourite dessert, just New York style cheesecake.
I mostly make sugar free ones,
and I make it once a year for her birthday.
Yes!
We made it this far in the competition,
that to make it to the finale and lose,
or even lose in the semifinals,
is just so disappointing
Because we made it all the way here
and somebody else wins, but we worked just as much as they did.
All right Duff, so what would be a fun few like,
helping powers that the animals could have,
especially around the kitchen.
I would do a snail with a pail...
- (LAUGHS) - ...and he cleans up after you.
Is this a pie plate?
I got the flour, Mace.
- Okay. - Do you guys
know what you're making?
Yeah, we're going to do a pie.
A pie, and on top of that, we'll be
a chocolate fondant frog.
Our animal helper is Bob, who is a frog, who sits on a log.
And the way he makes kids happy
is when they have anger issues or problems, and tells them
how to get calmer.
Fun.
Okay, so we need a bowl. Can you grab a mixing bowl?
My special talent for bringing joy to people,
probably would be everybody says, I'm very like, encouraging.
Mhm.
And so, if someone is just feeling down, I could lift them up.
That's too big.
Too big.
- Get like a glass one. - Get a glass.
My special talent to bring joy to people is art.
They look at it and say, "Wow, this is amazing".
Maci, on the other hand, looks at it and she says, "Ah, it's okay".
No, I don't,
- I like all of your art. - Yes you do, you say,
"Oh yeah, it's okay."
Alright, so we are going to make a cherry pie with a lattice crust,
and then we're going to make a rice cereal treat log,
and then we're going to do like a fondant frog.
I make a lot of pies at home and everybody loves to eat them.
So, I think that's why we want to do a pie.
Now, this is shortening.
For the recipe that we always use
and the recipe my mama always uses,
you always use shortening instead of butter.
I think the shortening definitely helps
make it a nice golden flaky crust.
Don't want to make it too thin.
Akbar, we're going to cook our apples
for a little this time, just on the stove.
You know, just mix it so it's not like, too crunchy.
We're doing bee with a key.
So, the key unlocks a door of joy and happiness.
And so, (LAUGHS) we're going to be making a caramel apple pecan pie,
and we're going to be making our bee out of rice cereal treats,
and then we're going to be making our key out of leftover pie dough.
Is this ice cold water?
Yes.
Okay.
So, bees are not my
favourite insects...
- Animal. - ...at all.
But bumblebees, I like bumblebees, they're really cute,
and they don't try to sting people.
I haven't been stung by a bee
because I run away every time I see them.
So, to make my crust in a food processor,
I mix my flour, sugar and salt.
Then I add my chunks of butter
and cold water until it forms a dough like consistency.
couldn't fit in here.
Once my crust is chilled, I crimp it and get it into my pan.
I blind bake my pie crust
because I want to make sure
that it gets cooked all the way and doesn't stay under-baked
when I put my filling in.
The last time we made it, it was a little under-baked.
Let's do 10 minutes first.
Hello Genesis and Akbar.
