How beautiful is Earth, that man has cultivated for thousands of years.

Its fruitfulness is inexhaustible.

Deserts and steppes, too, should bear fruit.

In a few years, the waters of the Amu Darya will flow

through the Karakum Desert, through the steppes of Turkmenistan.

Blooming meadows and valleys will surround these young people.

What their fathers dreamed of will become reality.

In a few years, an artificial sea will have been created here in the Ukraine.

The giant Kakhovka Reservoir and millions of electric lights

will be reflected in its water.

The Volga. Russia's mighty river.

Enormous power plants grow up on its shores,

the likes of which the world has not seen before.

This is how the working man is changing nature, to live happier.

To live happier he fights he fights for world peace,

and in this struggle for the happiness of the people, the youth is in front.

Young people everywhere are working hard.

Under the builders of free Poland,

who are remaking their cities out of the ruins of war.

In the Chinese People's Republic,

Mao Zedong's youth is giving old China a new face.

The hands of the youth build dams in Czechoslovakia,

build the cities of Albania.

The youth is building Dimitrovgrad, Bulgaria's youngest city.

Young people are working in Romania's new factories,

constructing the Danube-Black Sea Canal.

In our young republic, too, work serves peaceful reconstruction.

Peacefully live the cities of the free countries

Tirana

Sofia

Warsaw

Budapest

Prague

Bucharest

Moscow.

Moscow, the capital of the peace-loving, mighty Soviet Union.

Moscow, the heart of the struggle for peace,

for democracy, for the happiness of all working people,

the big and the small.

Boys and girls are preparing themselves for a rich, creative life.

How happily this youth is growing up!

This is peace.

This is war!

See the cities and villages of Korea burn!

This is how the American imperialists want to destroy peaceful life.

Listen to the American Secretary of State, Mr. Acheson.

"Korea is a testing ground for us. We want to show how to organize..."

"...the globe in the American century."

Listen to MacArthur: "That's a good sight for my old eyes."

"Soldiers have to kill, that's what we came here for."

This American war claims millions of victims.

Millions of dollars he brings to Wall Street.

War raged through these streets.

If we don't stop it, it will crush millions of children's lives.

Wherever they could, the American aggressors

bought cannon fodder for their criminal war.

These mercenaries were captured by the Korean People's Army.

They will have enough time to think,

and understand it all.

On West German soil, the infantry of the NATO countries gets inspected.

The imperialists want to ignite the flames of war in Europe as well.

These young people have been sold off by their government

to General Eisenhower, complete with spats and berets.

How interested the general is looking at his cannon fodder.

This is Bidault, France's Minister of War.

He wants to force the French boys to march in line

with yesterday's enemies, with Hitler's SS bandits.

They abuse our West German homeland as military exercise area.

Montgomery, Field Marshal of the British Army has arrived.

And Robert Lehr, Adenauer's Minister of the Interior, is also at the scene.

This is the touching union of American profiteers

with Hitler's SS,

French and English officers

and British Lords.

Well equipped with state-of-the-art American weapons,

fascism rears its head.

Nazi planes are circling in the air again.

Could it not be, Monsieur Montgomery,

that they will once again... ...our France and your England...

Well, that possibility exists.

And once again, heavy tanks speed across the fields of West Germany.

Smash the crops, tear up the streets, terrify women and children

who have not yet forgotten the horrors of the last war.

All of West Germany has become a military training ground.

This is where the latest war technology is tested,

where tanks are tested for their combat capability.

"The German army will be resurrected at a rapid pace."

Says Mr. Lehr.

It smells of powder on the the fields of West Germany.

These books, too, smell of powder.

This explosive made of paper is the make of the old war criminals.

Fascist poison, there to infect the German youth.

The marksmen's guilds and veterans' associations are back, too,

freshly dug out from the dustbin of Prussian history.

Indeed, a splendid masquerade.

But not splendid enough to make us forget the past.

Well, that looks ridiculous.

But now, that step we know!

That is the all-crushing step of fascism.

So they marched looting, scorching, murdering through all of Europe,

all the way to Stalingrad.

Up to here.

They brought immeasurable harm to the German people.

Terrible are they, the monuments of their war.

Here Hitler hatched his criminal plans,

and here he sent his murder gangs into the countries of Europe.

The Soviet Army destroyed the fascist forces,

smashed the hotbed of German militarism,

and liberated the German people.

Now the flags of the new democratic Germany are waving here.

But they are not yet waving all over Berlin,

because the capital of our fatherland is divided.

In the East, the German people are in control,

in West Berlin the American occupiers rule,

and right here,

at this closest point of contact between the forces of peace and war,

the Third World Festival shall take place in August 1951.

News of the World Festival flew all over the globe,

all over the world, meetings were held.

Wherever the flags, the songs, the speeches speak of peace.

Secretly, in the woods, the youth of West Germany had to gather

to hear the tidings of the World Festival.

The good news spread across England.

Flew through the cities of France.

Reached Italy.

The youth of Romania welcomed the World Festival.

The Hungarian Youth.

For the celebration of peace, the young steelworkers are working,

the raftsmen are working,

the builders of Romania,

the builders of the new China,

the builders of Poland.

In honor of the World Festival,

the youth of the free countries kept a peace vigil.

The students of the Czechoslovak Republic labor in the name of peace.

Polish farmers bring in their harvest in the name of peace.

The heroic sons and daughters of Korea fight for peace and freedom.

With their work, the proud youth of the Soviet Union strengthens the peace.

This locomotive, a gift from the young workers of Hungary,

will travel to Berlin.

In Berlin, the International Preparatory Committee of the World Festival met.

Our buildings have never grown so quickly.

The German swimming stadium in Friedrichshain,

the German sports hall on the Stalinallee.

It was built in 119 days.

The streets of Berlin were cleared up.

Berlin has never had so many helping hands.

Our capital is washing and cleaning itself.

At the same time, peace relays start all over the world.

The relay in England.

Oradour, the French Lidice.

In 1944, this small town was reduced to rubble by German fascists,

and the inhabitants, among them 500 children, were murdered in the church.

Now the French peace relay starts here.

Throughout France, the descendants of the Paris Communards,

the sons and daughters of the Marquis partisans,

the comrades-in-arms of Raymonde Dien and Henri Martin

will carry the torch of peace.
