Hi, my name is Josh Cooley,
I'm the writer/director of George and A.J.
So I came up with the idea for this short
while I was drawing storyboards for the film Up,
which is, um, how I thought of the idea and...
Oh, I can't do this.
Let's just use the narrator.
Can we do that? Let's bring him in.
Hello, everyone. So, what can I do for you?
Hey, thanks for coming.
We're recording this director's commentary for this short.
I'm really bad at this.
Do you think you can do it and make it sound more exciting?
Oh, sure, you mean like this... (CLEARS THROAT)
Live, from the Pixar Animation Studios recording booth,
located in fashionable Emeryville, California,
you're listening to the George and A.J. director's commentary.
With your host, writer/director Josh Cooley!
-(IN NORMAL VOICE) So how was that? Yeah, perfect! Keep going.
(IN DEEP VOICE) It was the month of September,
the year, 2008.
Josh Cooley, a ruggedly handsome yet humble Pixar story artist,
was working late drawing storyboards.
Suddenly, he had an epiphany.
And its name was George and A.J.
This is the incredible true story of one man's journey
to bring an animated idea to life.
How did he do it?
We'll find out, right after this commercial break.
No, no, no, there's no commercials in the commentary.
Really? You sure about that?
Uh, yeah.
All right.
Bringing George and A.J. to the screen was a daunting task.
The film required one of the largest film crews in cinematic history.
A staff of over 10,000 artists
worked on the film for more than 24 years.
Whoa, wait a second.
Actually, the crew was pretty small. I did all the drawings,
Catherine Kelly animated them in After Effects,
and Tim Fox cut the film, and we did it all in under a year.
Don't interrupt me again.
Nothing you're saying is true. You're not even following the script.
