They had a lot of long-term care residents.
I'll be taking care of you tonight.
I was working night shift
when I had my first real visual experience.
The hospital, especially this floor,
was a very lonely place,
and everyone on that floor was dying from cancer.
This was a hospital I was not familiar with.
I was concerned.
I felt the atmosphere of people in need of a prayer.
The first time I saw this shadow, my heart just jumped.
I've seen this type of demonic before because I'm an exorcist.
I see tentacles and I'm like, "What in the world is that?"
My heart just jumped and I ran.
Something is going to hurt me
if I don't get out that door right now.
It was almost like I could feel her breath on my neck.
Manifested to a winged creature.
Scared me so badly that I just ran.
It was a matter of life and death.
In a sleepy corner in the American South,
at a former hospital that now houses a long-term care facility,
nursing assistant Kristin Poe begins her shift
checking in on her patients.
Hi, I'm Kristin.
I'll be taking care of you tonight.
It was very good in the caring facility.
They had a lot of long-term care residents.
I worked second and third shift.
Second shift is anywhere between 2:30 to 10:30 at night,
and third shift is 10:30 to 6 o'clock in the morning.
The woman that had been admitted was terribly sick with cancer.
Everything about her was really, really sick.
With the quiet night disturbed, Kristin is alert and on edge.
I was on one end of the hall, they were on the other.
Kristin.
I saw this figure come out of the room.
And I thought, for a moment, that it was one of my co-workers
and that she had come out to get my attention
because I knew they were short-staffed.
So I took off running.
And I ran in there, and the woman is actively dying.
Hold her legs, hold her legs!
Hold her.
We did all that we could to make sure
that she was comfortable as she passed.
She had one little tear that came out of her cheek,
down her little face.
I'll never forget that till I die.
Good thing you came into the hall to get me.
Don't be ridiculous.
We were holding her the whole time.
She looked at me and she goes,
"I do not know what you are talking about."
She was like, "I was not in the hallway.
"We were in here holding her on the bed."
If that wasn't you, then who was it?
Maybe it was one of them.
She reported to me that she had seen shadow people
hiding behind curtains, peeking out of doorways.
And she shared her experiences with me
about what she had seen the facility.
Kristin will soon also have her own strange experiences
within the hospital.
I was working one night on night shift
at the nurses' station by myself, doing charting.
Kristin.
I felt the presence behind me at first.
Hello?
Kristin.
I hear someone call my name, and I recognise that it's the voice
of a co-worker.
Kristin.
So I go look.
Kristin.
It sounded like her but it didn't sound like her.
It almost had a teasing kind of quality.
Kristin.
She is nowhere to be found and there's no one there.
I checked the staffing schedule that evening
and she wasn't even on schedule to work that night
and she was nowhere in that building according to the schedule.
Night after night, Kristin continues to hear the voice.
I would hear my name being called every shift.
Kristin. What do you want?
It scared me the first probably two, three times,
then after a while, it was, "What do you want?"
Leave me alone.
Were you just calling me a minute ago?
No.
But I just saw you downstairs.
How do you get up here so fast?
That wasn't me.
And I said, "Nope, I've been sitting here
"doing this charting all night long."
Then what did I just see?
That was unsettling to say the least,
that there's something walking down at the end of the hallway
that looked like me.
Kristin tries to focus on her work, but soon learns the unexpected
is always lurking around the corner.
Why don't you start your rounds now, Kristin?
My nurse was at the nurses' station and I had to go down the hall
to take care of my residents on that end of the hall.
There is this glass spherical mirror on the ceiling
that shows if anyone is coming from the side halls,
and as I was walking up to it, I saw in the reflection
there was this black mass in the middle of the hallway.
I was looking at it and I was like,
"that must be some piece of equipment in the hallway."
I see what looks like tentacles come up off of it
and move like this and then pull itself forward.
And I'm like, "What in the world is that?"
It's got no kind of form to it. It's a black mass,
charcoal in colour, and it's undulating.
And I felt...
Anybody that feels rushed, like in a fight...
And I fully expect to see something horrific coming at me.
I braced myself for an attack.
And when I finally turned my head to look,
fully expecting to see something horrific there...
...there wasn't anything there.
It was a completely empty hallway.
It scared me so badly that I just ran.
Oh my god. I just saw something really scary in the hallway.
I told my nurse supervisor that was at the desk about it.
No matter what you think you saw, you have residents back there
that need your attention.
I just need a minute. OK?
I am not going down there right now until I can get centred
and be in a good emotional state, spiritual state,
because whatever that was is not good.
A spirit might want to place someone in a state of fear
in order to make them more submissive and pliable,
more controllable, to get her to generate more fear
which it can feed on, which it can use as like a battery.
Despite her apprehensions,
Kristin has a duty to care for her patients.
The room is divided by a curtain,
and a bed on this side, a bed on this side.
Hi, I'm Kristin.
I'll be taking care of you tonight.
The lady in the left side of the room was a teeny little lady, very sweet.
She made what some would say would be creepy sounds.
She would kind of moan and cry.
Some people were afraid of her.
She was completely helpless in this little bed.
I'll be back to check on you soon. It's fine.
Hi, I'm Kristin.
I'll be your nurse's assistant today.
This lady was really sweet, she never spoke.
I started to do care on her, talking to her,
getting all my equipment out ready to take care of her.
And I felt this heaviness in the room like, "Get out, get out, get out."
And I heard what sounded like a huge crash
from the other side of that curtain.
Are you OK?
Did you fall?
That little lady over there was not big enough to make this sound.
I thought, "Oh my gosh, she's fallen out of bed
"and knocked the table, the bedside table over."
I felt that rushing sensation of something rushing me,
like a dog would.
And then I heard claws on the hardwood floors.
So I moved the curtain back.
She's just sitting there in her little bed,
making her little sounds.
I just was like, "What in the world?"
And I turned around to look at the other lady, the bigger lady...
...and she's smiling at me.
And I got this, "Oh, something is about to hurt me,
"something is going to hurt me if I don't get out
"that door right now."
I had to go back in there.
I'm looking in,
and there is this black, sheer-looking curtain
that drops from the ceiling down.
It was black.
So I was like, "I've got to go tell my supervising nurse."
I approach the nurses' station...
You didn't tell me this place was haunted.
And I tell her that, "Y'all didn't tell me
"that there were ghosts on this hall,
"that there is something in that room."
I don't have time for this nonsense.
The nurse supervisor got angry and walked off.
It's busy tonight.
You're gonna have to deal with it, Kristin.
She was flat out not gonna do it.
I am working up the nerve to go back in this room,
and I knew I had to.
I could not leave those two little ladies in that room
all by themselves.
And I walk in the doorway
