Last night, millions of Americans witnessed
the return of the biggest talent show in the world.
Yo, check this out.
Let me put it this way.
Did you hear what he said? Shut up.
And brand-new judge...
- What's your name? - I am Howie.
Think you've seen it all, America?
You ain't seen nothing yet.
You're going to Las Vegas.
This is America's got talent.
Welcome to America's got talent.
I'm Nick cannon.
The auditions are on the road again,
and we're headed to the state where everything's bigger.
The auditions have moved to Dallas, Texas.
Welcome to Dallas!
The crowds have turned out in full force,
dreaming of winning the ultimate prize--
$1 million and a headline show
in Las Vegas.
Dallas, Texas!
Do you guys have talent?
Yes!
Well, let's get it poppin'!
Dallas! Dallas!
There's a lot of people in Dallas.
The mood is sky-high here in Dallas.
- Texas... - Has got...
Talent!
And the judges are expecting big things.
First day in Dallas. You know, Texas has a reputation--
everything's bigger in Texas.
So this should be the big talent.
This should be the best talent.
I am expecting today some real Texas pride.
Everything about Texas is huge.
And I reckon we're gonna find some huge talent.
Are you guys ready to meet your judges?
Give it up for piers Morgan!
Texas gold right in here.
Sharon Osbourne.
And now you got to make some noise for--
this is his first season of America's got talent...
It's showtime.
You gotta-- watch- -watch this area.
He's a comedian. He's an actor.
He's Howie Mandel!
Mr. Mandel, how are you doing?
I am doing great. I am thrilled to be here.
I'm thrilled to be on this show.
Are you guys ready for a great show?
Well, let's get it started.
First up are a group of friends
who've been building their act for over five years.
We are... Architech.
We're a performance art group from Austin, Texas.
We actually produce music with lightning.
Each one of our Tesla coils produces 500,000 volts
of electricity.
My job is going to be to go onstage
and become a human lightning conductor.
1 million volts of electricity will be skittering
across the surface of my suit.
Okay, now say that in English.
Um, I'm gonna get struck by lightning.
Nice.
I'm willing to put on the suit
and risk my life to win this contest.
All right, well, go get 'em.
Be careful, guys.
I still feel like I'm too close.
Right. Okay.
What have we here?
We're Architech from Austin, Texas.
We're a technological performance group.
A what?
We're a technological performance group.
We have a little bit of science in what we do.
And what do you all do for a living in real life?
- I'm an electrician. - Okay.
I am a vocational rehabilitation counselor.
- I'm an electronic engineer. - Okay.
I am an audio engineer.
I'm a-a janitor. - Yeah.
Well, you have 90 seconds to wow America.
Good luck.
Yo, that's crazy.
This is amazing.
I've never seen anything like that.
Wow. This is like, if m.I.T. Had a marching band,
this is what it would be. - Yup.
I love it. It's so different
and so amazing, and it's so unique.
I love the robot. I love the electricity.
And that was one of the most incredible auditions
I've seen in my life,
bar none.
What you do is fabulous,
but it's all a bit too technical for me.
Okay, well, let's vote.
Howie, yes or no? - Oh, yessiree.
Sharon?
Um, no, gentlemen, but thank you.
One yes, one no.
Architech, there are moments in history,
you know, from the moon landings onwards, when you just feel
like you're a part of something new and exciting.
And I believe your arrival on this show
has come at the perfect time.
And I am going to say yes.
See you in Vegas.
Can I shake-- I'm not gonna get electrocuted?
No.
So architech are through to Las Vegas.
And thousands of acts continue to sign up,
all dreaming of following in their footsteps.
And next to the stage
is 30-year-old Jeremy Kinison.
What I do would be absolutely perfect for Vegas.
I've got the most dramatic act there possibly could be.
What are you gonna do for us today, Jeremy?
Um, well, the thing is,
I'm gonna need your help a little bit.
You've lit a lighter before, right?
Once or twice.
If my act were to go wrong,
I wouldn't die, but I don't think I'd want to live anymore.
All right.
- Hello. - Hello.
- And you are? - My name is Jeremy,
or cutthroat.
And what do you do?
I don't really know how to put it.
I'm a genital daredevil.
A genital daredevil?
Yes, yes.
Show us-- show us.
- Genital did he say? - Yes.
I think he said genital. Just show us.
All right. Can I get a hand from Nick, please?
Why--why?
Okay, your job is real easy.
All you have to do is stand there,
light the lighter, and I'll do the rest of the work.
What is he doing? - Boo!
Hit the damn buzzer!
Hit--
Howie! Howie!
Hit the damn buzzer!
No.
- Howie! Hit the buzzer! - No. No.
Light it.
Come on, man.
Welcome back to America's got talent
and the Dallas auditions.
Onstage, 30-year-old Jeremy Kinison is midway
through his act, and it goes without saying,
please don't try this at home.
You just stand there, light the lighter,
and I'll do the rest of the work.
What is he doing?
Hit the damn buzzer!
Howie! Howie!
Hit the buzzer. - No. Light it.
Come on, man.
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire.
America's got talent.
Oh, my God.
Piers. Piers.
Yes, Howie?
- Judge. - Judge?
I would say never.
No.
I say, without this show,
go to Vegas and blow your off.
So, no, thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
You all right down there?
I don't want to see. Thank you.
- I'm good. - Okay.
Holla.
Welcome to the show, Howie.
I love that. I love that.
With three XS, Jeremy Kinison's dream is over.
And up next to the stage is someone who's confident
she's got exactly what the judges are looking for.
Hi, I'm Jenna Doresmar.
I'm 23. I'm from San Antonio, Texas.
I'm a singer/actress/model,
but I'm gonna be singing for the judges tonight.
Normally when people hear me sing,
they just immediately say, "why aren't you famous yet?"
I've been told that I could be singing about a cat
and it would still sound sexy.
I think the judges are gonna love what they hear tonight.
And I think that they will send me to the next round.
Get me to Vegas.
So you're not nervous?
