but with that way, the fire'd be missing an overwhelming amount of heat inside.

So it means it doesn't have enough oomph to go on?

The key to making a fire is that the firewood gets enough stored heat so it can ignite.

Once you light the fire, the first stage is evaporating the moisture in the firewood.

and the firewood reaches 200 degrees Celsius,

pyrolysis starts.

Once it reaches about 250 degrees,

it rapidly starts releasing flammable gases.

And that's called

Start by picking up thin twigs that are well-dried.

After that, pick up some dry cedar leaves.

These leaves have a lot of oil content, so they burn easily,

and can serve as a replacement for firelighter.
