My name is dakota laden. I am a documentary filmmaker.
For the past few years,
I've been investigating the paranormal with zak bagans
And the "ghost adventures" crew.
Dakota laden. Welcome, buddy.
I grew up in a house where paranormal activity
Terrorized my entire family.
It has gripped my sister,
My childhood best friend, and me ever since.
So I had an idea -- a psychological experiment...
...Where I would test
How terror affects the human mind...
...What it reveals about our true selves,
And just how much of it a person can withstand.
To understand the paranormal,
First we need to overcome our fear.
I'm leading us on a road trip to explore
The most haunted, abandoned locations
In all of america.
Each night, we'll separate and sleep alone.
The catch is, I'm the only one who knows where we're going.
What up? Chelsea!
What up?
So, what's going through your head right now?
We're, like, a couple days away now from doing this.
Honestly, I'm a little nervous.
So, here's the situation.
I have no idea where I'm going.
Chelsea has no idea where she's going.
Dakota is the only one who has any information
On the locations.
You know, without giving anything away,
Like, can you tell me, like, the direction?
Without giving anything away, I'm not gonna say anything.
Me and dakota are gonna meet chelsea in tennessee,
And that's all I know, and then we go from there.
Well, um, we just flew into tennessee.
I wonder where we're gonna go. Tennessee.
I don't know. I can't even guess.
So, we're' going to a very massive, abandoned prison
Right here in tennessee.
The building is in full decay.
It's over 100 years old.
This is where people were tortured, beaten, murdered.
Housed some of the meanest, most evil people in america.
I can't wait. This is gonna be crazy.
I love dakota because I have to love dakota.
He's my brother.
I literally was at the hospital the day he was born.
I have that memory in my head,
Going to the hospital to see baby dakota.
Alright, so, I'm gonna knock on chelsea's door right now,
Wake her up, and tell her to come outside to see the rv.
Hey! Alright.
You probably have an idea of what we're about to go see.
I think I know.
I don't think I could actually do this trip
Without the people that I have --
Tanner, knowing him my whole life...
Whoa! Whoa! What up?
morning.
One rv and one bathroom -- that's what I'm nervous about.
I think tanner is one of
The funniest people I've ever met in my life.
Accidentally told us where we're going. No, I didn't.
Tanner is just a big ball of energy.
His laugh is just contagious.
By the way, this is alex.
Alex is gonna be filming us, like, the whole trip.
You still have another 10 hours
Till I'm even gonna tell you where we're going.
- Dang. - There it is.
- Yes! - That's so cool, actually.
All the memories we're gonna have in here.
I know. Like, it's gonna be our home away from home.
...Everybody. Aw.
My god.
Guys, this is gonna be our house.
I think... This is -- !
I already called the bed. this is my room.
No, no!
This is all me, bubby.
Dude, you snooze, you lose.
I'm making space!
What?
Like, if I want to dance, we can dance now.
When do I get to know -- this is all fun and games right now,
But you're in for some serious stuff.
- Yeah. Thanks, alex. - Well --
Appreciate it. I know. I just want you to know that.
Whoo!
This is sick.
This is gonna be one crazy ride.
I'm ready. You ready?
I'm in. Let's do it.
Be nice to figure out where we're going.
I'll tell you. Alright.
Sick of waiting. I'm sick of waiting.
I'm sick of knowing.
this sucks.
That's on you, bub.
I'm not gonna tell you the location.
I'm gonna give them one fact.
10,000 people have died at this location.
Turn this thing around.
No way!
Okay, so, in this packet right here
Is all the information on the first location.
Okay. Who wants to open the packet?
Definitely me. I want to do it. Chelsea? Here we go, chelsea.
Alright.
Location number one.
Brushy mountain state penitentiary.
"brushy mountain state penitentiary
Is known as the alcatraz of the south,
And it has a tortured and horrifying history.
During its 113 years in operation,
It housed the worst offenders imaginable --
Those imprisoned for murder
And the most horrific of violent crimes."
There are so many people who can testify
For just how brutal and scary this place is.
Brushy mountain state prison is known as the end of the line.
They've compared us to siberian prison camps here.
Cruelty.
What I witnessed through these walls
Was murder, rape, assault.
Being here as a prisoner was a living nightmare.
If the walls did not keep you in here,
The mountains will.
"an impenetrable fortress,
The prison is nearly encircled by rugged, wooded mountains.
The only prison in the us with only three walls,
The fourth being a massive cliff."
"there is only one road in and out."
As you drive up to the prison,
You'll notice that the prison is the shape of a cross.
This was a very violent place.
Prisoners were beaten pretty much on a daily basis
For the smallest of things.
This was not a good place to be.
If you were an inmate, you were basically tortured
And treated like an animal.
They would whip them out in the yard.
The older townspeople said
That they could hear the screams of the inmates
Coming from behind the walls of the prison
When they would be beaten.
Several were murdered by the guards.
They would just shoot them and leave them laying.
Oftentimes, they wouldn't even bury them.
They would just leave them where they were.
So even though there weren't no sanctioned executions,
They were executed here.
"the grounds were a death trap,
And some say those lost souls have never left."
You can read the next part.
The one place that I would warn anyone -- auditorium.
The auditorium is the...
Is the worst, I believe.
We do have a creeper in the auditorium.
You can make out a shape of a head and shoulders,
But it's almost kind of like he slithers or crawls on his belly.
The auditorium is something else.
It's evil.
We have to go in it.
In the auditorium, they would show movies,
So there would be seats.
It was dark.
It was just a perfect opportunity.
If someone wanted to cut your throat, they'd cut your throat.
This is a really dark, dark location.
Tanner, you want to keep reading?
Because it gets a lot worse.
"people have been touched and even become physically ill
From the entities that still remain on the grounds."
Yeah.
Whoa, dude.
The place that I will not go on the grounds
Is in d-block on the second floor.
The first time that I went on the second floor of d-block,
I was scratched and brought blood to my arm,
And I refuse to go back there now.
One thing about d-block --
That was where death row was housed.
I got chills going in there.
It's just... It's freaky.
Four of my best friends were stabbed over there.
"the hole, where prisoners were kept in solitary confinement."
They used to hang them by their thumbs there
As a form of punishment.
They were given two five-gallon buckets.
One had water, the other was to use the bathroom in.
The hole has no sunlight, and if they were here
For many days, weeks, months, as some were,
They did lose their sight.
"brushy is said to be haunted by numerous spirits,
Including the spirit of james earl ray..."
Whoa!
"...Assassin of martin luther king jr."
