The first 172 lines.
I still remember the shock I felt then.
The harsh reality that slammed into me without warning.
The warm hand that once patted my head.
The kind smile that once soothed my heart.
That strong, gentle person
who worked harder than anyone I'd ever known...
That someone like him should be denied his dream...
It was an undeniable injustice.
I'm not without my own feelings of guilt.
But...
Ayanokoji Kiyotaka
To defeat him... the person I can never forgive...
I need a stronger half inside me to support the brittle one.
To face the true goal that lies ahead...

#9 A Disquieting Beginning
Isn't this an amazing sight?
You didn't see it last year?
Well, I saw a little bit,
but I was way more focused on hanging with my friends.
It almost doesn't feel real.
Yeah, you don't get many chances to ride on a cruise ship.
Not that part.
I mean the part where we're dating.
You're just totally hopeless with this stuff.
So, what about you?
Has it sunk in for you yet?
I'm not sure.
It has for part of me, and for another part, it hasn't.
What does that mean?
I just never thought we'd be able to meet outside
like this without anyone knowing.
Yeah, I guess.
Depending on what they reveal about the rules of the special test,
I may ask you to do some things.
Yeah, I've got it.
Assuming it's stuff I can handle, anyway.
Looks like the first-years are done.
We can't go in together, so I'll go on ahead.
Why are you sitting there?!
You did that on purpose, didn't you?
Of course not.
Why do I have to—
I will now explain the rules of the deserted island special test.
For two weeks, starting tomorrow,
you will undergo a survival test where you compete for game points.
If everyone on your team drops out, you fail at once.
The bottom five placers will be expelled at once.
There are two ways to score game points.
One is through movement.
The map is divided into 100 squares,
and you can acquire game points by moving into designated areas within.
Designated areas will be announced four times per day at designated times.
There are rules regarding area designation.
Three of the designated areas will be within two spaces horizontal or vertical,
or one space diagonal, of each other.
However, once per day, there will be a random area designated
in an unpredictable location.
Game points will be assigned in order of arrival:
ten for first place, five for second, three for third.
One bonus point will be given
to anyone who arrives in the area within the time limit,
but arrival order rewards
will only be awarded once all members of the group have arrived.
If you are already within an area when it is designated,
each person present will earn one point,
but the arrival order reward will not apply.
If you neglect to arrive at three designated areas in a row,
you will be penalized.
Before I explain the other way to get game points,
I want you to look at this.
You'll wear these watches throughout the test,
and you will be given synced tablets.
These are what will record your game points,
so keep them with you at all times.
In addition, your health will be constantly monitored,
and if you exceed safe baselines, an alarm will sound.
It's designed to stop automatically after five seconds,
but if you remain in the red zone, the alarm will sound again.
If your problematic condition continues, it will turn into an emergency alarm.
If this happens, you must receive a medical check in the starting area,
but if you can't make it there,
you will be penalized appropriately, with disqualification on the table.
If the emergency alarm continues for over five minutes,
a team of teachers and medical staff will follow the GPS to your location.
If you attempt to remove the watch by force,
or if it suffers a mechanical failure,
the scoring function will turn off.
If that happens,
you will need to return to the starting area to swap your equipment.
Let's return to the movement scoring.
All groups will not necessarily have the same designated areas during the test.
The watches are programmed with twelve different tables.
Your designated areas
from the first to last day will be determined in advance by these tables.
Of course, all members of a group will have the same table,
and if you form a large group, your tables will be changed to match.
The second way of scoring game points
is by performing challenges set at various places on the island.
The nature of these challenges and where they spawn will be unpredictable.
You can view challenge information, including participation conditions,
Challenge: Shot Put Category: Physical To Participate: Register within 30 minutes of challenge spawn. Entry requirements: Groups of three or more may participate. Registration ends after six groups have registered. Victory Conditions The group of three with the highest total score wins. Rewards 1st Place: 10 points 2nd Place: 5 points 3rd Place: 3 points
but you will not be able to see
their current status until you physically arrive.
Food and water will be included among the challenge rewards.
If you wish to join up with another group, you must link up your watches.
I would now like to ask Acting Chairman Tsukishiro to say a few words.
This is Tsukishiro.
This deserted island test
may be the largest special test our school has ever undertaken.
I want to warn you about what you will be facing.
The school, in its capacity as your caretakers,
will monitor you as best we can.
But on an island of this size, our surveillance cannot be perfect.
Any instances of sexual abuse will be penalized without hesitation,
and truly vile behavior may result in legal action.
And one more thing...
As hunger and thirst can quickly lead to frustration,
we may see fights between students.
I intend to be relatively permissive of this.
In practice, I feel it would be impossible to prevent any conflict at all.
Of course, with anything truly vile, the school will get involved.
Depending on the nature of the activity, you may be forced to drop out,
and you may be expelled.
That is all.
I hope that you will act in ways befitting the students of
Advanced Nurturing High School.
Tokyo Advanced Nurturing High School Deserted Island Special Test
Thank you, Acting Chairman Tsukishiro.
To conclude,
I will explain the provisions and tools you will need for the island.
Whoa, awesome!
Is this enough for everyone?
What?
I guess this is difficult for both of us.
Charging into that crowd feels so awkward.
What? Please. I'm nothing like you. I can easily handle this!
What are you doing?
I wanna make sure...
we have... the water... we need!
Water is certainly precious.
I'll either have to collect rainwater on-site
or complete challenges to get it.
What are you doing?
My back!
Did you sleep well last night?
I guess so.
You haven't gotten sick?
You're still holding last year against me?
No, just messing with you.
The test has already started, but you don't seem to be in a hurry.
It's not like running around recklessly will do me any good.
I have F9.
We must be on different tables, then.
Not that I'm worried about you.
Try to finish the test with as high a rank as you can.
I'd like to, but we could end up with the absurd result
where I'm the only one expelled.
I would certainly prefer to avoid that.
I lent you quite a few points recently, after all.
That's your objection?
I know you're hurting for money due to your contract with Kushida-san,
but giving her half your points every month was too far.
I really do hate thinking about it.
Just don't push yourself too hard.
You have a hard fight ahead, as a lone woman.
I choose to appreciate the warning.
None of the second-year groups seem to be panicking.
The first-years got to leave first, and we're over ten minutes behind.
There's no point in burning stamina racing to the first designated area.
Does Koenji really intend to take first?
No comments yet. Be the first to leave one.
