Hello everyone, and thank you for watching To Be Heroine.

This is a special episode where we'll take you behind the scenes of the anime production.

We'll show director Haoling Li's storyboards and the production process at the studio

along with a lot of other neat things.

I think this will be a great experience with lots to see for all the fans.

Haoling Li's Storyboards!!

First, we'll show you Director Haoling Li's storyboards.

It must be fate that has allowed us to battle here.

I am Saimon Fubuki.

What is your name?

Hattori Hanzou.

I will kill you.

I see. You'll kill me?

Then I will fight with all my strength!

This is the battle between Hattori Hanzou and Saimon Fubuki.

Director Li came up with the idea of using flashes of lighting

to represent the speed and tension of the battle.

Several of the keyframe artists

for To Be Heroine are very good at drawing battle scenes.

Director Li decided to leave this battle scene up to that staff,

so that they could use their own imaginations to find ways to make it exciting.

The keyframe artists spent more time than usual to make the scene fun to watch,

and the number of animation frames reached a very large number.

They said over 30,000 frames were required for 30 minutes of animation.

I'm fortunate to have met such a strong foe.

Next we'll show you the same scene when video studio LAN worked on it.

Video Studio LAN's Keyframes!!

Let's take a look at the keyframes.

You can see from this how the keyframe animators

tried many different things for this battle scene.

For example, how Saimon Fubuki remains constantly calm and collected,

while Hattori Hanzou gradually goes on the defensive.

Their actions and their positions are both determined by the story.

Also, the closeups and camera locations were carefully chosen.

Editing was done to make the flow of the battle easier to understand,

so that it would be easy for viewers to follow.

Besides the video, much effort was spent on the sound effects and music, as well.

We made two versions, a Japanese version and Chinese version,

for viewers in different countries.

This is how To Be Heroine is produced.

The studio in China has received many hand-drawn pictures from fans.

as well as comments from the voice actors.
