This is how haunts get out of control.

Do you think what we're doing here is evil?

Occult. Dark magic.

Whoa, that's (BLEEP) up.

Oh, ho, ho.

The dead feel like the living are trespassing.

There's some pissing contest between the living and dead

for whose space this really is.

The dead want a voice.

We just want to help this family.

The living need our help.

Have you always been here?

He was watching already.

So we're meeting Barb, right?

Yes, Barb has a lot of activity she believes started

or got worse since she happened to find an old Bible

in her floorboards when they were renovating.

Mm-hm. Yeah.

And this Bible's not just any Bible, it's from like 1868.

Yes.

Filled with like locks of human hair.

Oh yeah, and pictures right? Yeah.

Yeah.

And so she says once she unearthed that,

activity has gone nuts.

When she contacted us, she seemed very upset and agitated.

I mean, she's at her wit's end.

Even her daughter Joy and her fiance Nate

are having a rough time.

Shall we?

Hi, Barb.

This place is old, huh?

It was built in 1920.

1920. Did you folks buy this house together?

Is it a family home?

No, my deceased husband had this house

15 years before I married him.

Oh, got it, OK.

So he bought it in 1970 sometime, I can't really tell you.

It doesn't seem like you're comfortable in your house.

No. So what's going on?

It's hard to say because my husband Allen,

we weren't on best terms when he passed.

Unfortunately, he passed away on our kitchen floor

at 2 o'clock in the morning and we didn't hear him.

Oh. OK.

We found him at 7 o'clock in the morning just out.

OK. What did he pass away from?

A heart attack or what?

He had prostate and kidney cancer and it spread,

and he wouldn't do anything about it.

Is that a representation of his personality,

like stubborn and doesn't care? Pretty much.

No, he cared.

The one thing he cared about was this house.

Yeah.

And when he was in the hospital the week before he died,

he said, "I will go out feet first and I will come right back."

And we swear that's what he did.

About three months later,

we started noticing an upsurge in things.

And it's been building.

OK.

Like we've been doing renovations like changing the rooms.

He didn't like change.

Like the living room was done, it increased.

When the kitchen was done,

it really increased because he died in there.

Right.

Prior to his death, did you have activity in the house?

Banging like knocks on the walls.

So you've had small amounts of activity happening.

A little bit. For years and years and years.

Yeah.

And then after Allen passed away, it ramped up.

It got a lot worse. OK.

And it got more resentful, revengeful.

Yeah, OK.

So, I'm kind of concerned about that.

It sounds a lot like you are living in fear here now.

All of us, my daughter and her boyfriend.

Like I said, there's a lot of emotional stuff going on.

Unfinished business between he and I.

Yeah.

Which I tried to talk to him and make peace with some but...

It doesn't seem to be working.

So the chairs that you are holding, Amy, that one.

My daughter was sitting over here

and she couldn't reach that chair,

and it just kicked out about this much.

Like somebody... Wow.

...was getting out of it.

Was that Allen's favourite chair or...?

Yeah. That's where he sat.

Unfortunately so, yeah. OK.

He always sat in that chair? He did.

OK. I see you have a bunch of tarot cards.

Do you collect tarot cards?

I like to collect them. My friend, she reads.

Has your friend ever told you anything

that you were like, "Oh, that's spot on from it."

She just doesn't like the house.

She'll come in and visit and she'll be like, "I got to go."

Alright, we'll follow you.

I will tell you, this hall, always stuff going on in this hall.

We hear footsteps in this hall.

I always think it's either Joy or Nate

walking down to the bathroom.

And one time my door, my bedroom door,

there was a shadow right in front of the door.

In front of this door?

And it scared me.

So you heard the footsteps, you opened the door,

and there was a shadow there. Yeah.

OK. That scared me

because its mouth was open and it didn't have any eyes.

OK.

It was right in front and then it was gone.

So... I said, OK.

It's mouth was open and it didn't have any eyes.

No. This hall was always we'd hear something.

OK.

This is my room.

A lot of things happen in here.

From the door, which was Allen's office,

diagonally across to here, you hear footsteps.

OK.

And there's no one up there. I don't go in the attic.

You don't. I don't.

When I get to the stairs, it's almost like,

do not come up here feeling to me and I won't go.

My daughter moved up there, Cass, my oldest.

Is there any activity that your daughter's experienced

in that room? She doesn't feel well in there.

She gets sick, headaches, and she feels like

it's real heavy, like somebody's staring her down.

OK. Like they want you out.

That's how it feels.

Upstairs in the office, when Allen and I

were fixing a ceiling light,

found a Bible in the eaves of this house.

So this is prior to his death, where is that Bible now?

Downstairs in the dining room. OK.

Why don't you go downstairs, rest, get the Bible out

and we'll head upstairs and take a look at it.

OK, thank you. Just be careful.

OK, so this was Allen's office.

Here's his...

Filing cabinet.

Oh yeah, this has got like his little like handwriting

and everything in it.

So that's very... We'll have to use that.

It's incredibly personal actually.

Yeah, and they're his words. They're his things.

I'm suspecting this is what the whole house looked like

before they started remodelling. I'm sure.

OK, ready? Let's go downstairs.

This was in the eaves of this house.

Yeah.

This one was made in 1868.

So it's pretty, it's pretty old. Actually, it's falling apart.

Oh yeah. Have you done any research on that?

The Bible did have births and dates. OK.

That one just disintegrated. Yeah.

But the hair is just like so, it's so silky.

It's like part of the creepiest stuff of it all.

But I really, really hope that you guys

can kind of put together the puzzle

or at least maybe get me to have some peace

because it's no way to live.

We'll get some answers for you. Yeah.

The first thing I noticed walking into the house

was just the stress level of Barb.

It's clear that she is uncomfortable and she's scared and she's worried.

Not just for herself, but for her family who also reside in the home.

Pretty common in these older homes is finding artefacts of some sort

that have been hidden or put away by families who used to live there.

There is this Bible that she found

and it belonged to a family named the Yosts.

This was clearly something that belonged in this family

for generations so I'll start doing some research

just to see if I can get any records of any deaths

that may have happened in the home other than Barb's husband

and go from there.

We are set up. Did you find anything interesting?

I did, so she said that Bible was in the Yost family.

Yeah. Mm-hm. A number of them

passed while they lived here.

It looks like Elizabeth Yost sold this in January 1981.

So the Yosts were here for 60 years.

Wow. And the Bible was left behind.

It must have been her that left it.

There are two possibilities,

husband or something connected to the Bible.

I feel like if we go in and just see what happens

rather than like instigating it. Right.

It'll be easier for us to determine which direction to go in.

Let's do it.

Yeah, so I have some history about the house

up and ready to go and yeah, I'll just ask questions.
