Actually we have to call it suspect analysis these days

because of the big flack with

psychiatrists a year or so back.

I guess they thought we were encroaching on their turf.

Interesting how a single word can be

that threatening to an entire occupation.

- And you use computers quite a lot?

- Yes sir, we take a victimology matrix

and superimpose it over a hypothetical framework.

A suspect behavior constructed on a computer database

and then we look for intersecting

modes to reinforce the model.

- Yes, profiling, victimology classes, that sort of thing.

And three years on the road?

- Mm-hm. - What was that like?

Actually I suppose that's what got me into this,

but I didn't want that kind of responsibility.
