About SubDL
SubDL is a free subtitle database and download site for movies and TV shows. You search for a
title, choose a language, and download a subtitle file — usually .srt — that is
timed to a specific video release. There is no account needed to search or to download.
The site has been online since 2013. Subtitles come from a community of uploaders and from AI translation, and every published file keeps its uploader attribution.

How subtitle files are counted
SubDL has 6,272,106 individual subtitle files. A season pack is one convenient download, but it can contain a separate subtitle file for every episode. Each file inside the pack is counted individually, matching the way subtitle libraries that list those episode files separately describe their size.
For example, a season pack containing subtitle files for ten episodes contributes ten files to the public total, not one. Removed, unreadable, private, and soft-banned files are not part of the published figure.
Language coverage
Downloadable subtitles are currently available in 92 languages, while SubDL supports 111 languages for catalogue identity and new uploads. The largest collections include English, Arabic, Persian, Indonesian, French, Vietnamese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Italian, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, Korean, Finnish, Turkish, Malay, Chinese (Simplified), Romanian, Greek. Availability varies by title, so the language list on a title page is the reliable answer for a particular movie or show.
What SubDL does not do
- We host subtitle text files only. No video is hosted, streamed, or linked.
- We do not sell downloads. Pro plans add AI translation and higher API limits; the subtitle catalogue itself is free.
- We do not publish user data or API keys.
Corrections and takedowns
If a subtitle is mis-attributed or mis-matched to a title, report it from the subtitle page and it goes to a moderator. Rights holders can find the takedown process on the DMCA page; terms and privacy are at /terms and /privacy.
