About SubDL

SubDL is a free subtitle database and download site for movies and TV shows. You search for a title, choose a language, and download a subtitle file — usually .srt — that is timed to a specific video release. There is no account needed to search or to download.

The site has been online since 2013. Subtitles come from a community of uploaders and from AI translation, and every file keeps the name of whoever published it.

By the numbers

All figures measured on 2026-08-20 against the production database. Where a number appears elsewhere on the site as "N+", N is a floor rounded down from the figure here, so it stays true as the catalogue grows.

How the catalogue is counted

Two numbers get confused, so both are in the table above and they are not the same thing. 160,372 titles have at least one subtitle — that is coverage. 459,489 title pages exist, including titles that are catalogued but have no subtitle yet — that is not coverage, and it should not be quoted as the size of the library.

The same distinction applies to languages: 92 languages have at least one downloadable file, while 111 exist in the language registry. The remainder are languages we can accept uploads in but hold nothing yet.

A subtitle counts only if it is published and downloadable. Removed, unreadable, private and soft-banned files are excluded from every figure on this page.

Language coverage

The largest collections, biggest first: English, Arabic, Persian, Indonesian, French, Vietnamese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Italian, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, Korean, Finnish, Turkish, Malay, Chinese (Simplified), Romanian, Greek. Smaller languages down to a few hundred files are also covered. Coverage varies by title — the language list on a title page is the only reliable answer for that title.

What SubDL does not do

Corrections and takedowns

If a figure on this page is wrong, or a subtitle is mis-attributed or mis-matched to a title, report it from the subtitle page and it goes to a moderator. Rights holders can find the takedown process on the DMCA page; terms and privacy are at /terms and /privacy.
