For some,
their hauntings from the past...
still haunt them today.
She wanted to come and get me.
What I went through was terrifying.
I felt like somebody was choking me.
I was done -- it, like, made me upset -- sorry.
My name is Jesse, and this is my story.
The house we lived in was a little bit older.
It was big for me, just like kind of an older city house.
Jesse and his family are excited about the new home.
As a kid, I was kind of wild at home.
Me and Jesse are very close,
more like twins would be, because we're so close in age.
We would fight but be best friends the next day.
Jesse's mother grew up experimenting
with the occult with her family.
Our mother has actually performed seances before.
Are we alone?
As a child,
she would use a spirit board with her family,
try and conjure up some spirits.
One night, my mother and I decided we would perform
a seance to see if any spirits would communicate with us.
If there's any spirits here, give us a sign.
My brother Johnny was scared.
Can you feel our energy?
He didn't want any part of the seances.
I was kind of more intrigued by it.
Johnny, come join us.
I absolutely hated when Jesse and my mom would do a seance.
I was totally against it.
All right, come on, let's go to bed.
My mother and I went up to bed.
Usually, we would all sleep in my mother's room.
But since we performed the seance,
my brother was in his room alone.
So I was sleeping with my mom,
and locking the door made me feel more comfortable.
Definitely after a seance, you know, you feel a little bit
creeped out,
you have that feeling that you might have conjured up
some spirits.
With the spirit board,
once you open the gate, and it's not properly closed,
it stays open, so that means that demon
or that entity can come and go as it pleases.
Unknown to them,
Jesse and his mother have called in something.
Jesse. Jesse. Jesse.
I was woken up by a lady faintly calling my name.
Jesse. Jesse.
I just felt total chills through my whole body.
Mom?
Jesse.
Mom?
Why are we in the living room?
And then we both realized we were down on the couch,
and we had gone to bed in the bedroom.
What are we doing here?
Jesse and his mom can't explain what's happening.
My mother was super confused how we got on the couch.
Where's your brother?
She was very concerned about my brother.
Johnny?
Johnny!
We ran upstairs right away to check Johnny's room...
Johnny?!
...and he's not in there.
And then we check in my mother's room...
Johnny!
...and the door's locked.
Johnny, are you in there? Open the door!
- Johnny! - Johnny!
Next morning, I woke up
hearing pounding on the bedroom door
and them yelling for me, and I woke up shocked.
In the middle of the night,
everyone has been moved to different rooms.
Johnny.
None of us had any memory of getting up.
We all just woke up in a new spot.
For an entity to interact with you while you're sleeping,
especially move the whole family and, you know,
changing beds and sleeping locations,
the intentions are usually kind of mischievous.
The spirits could have actually
handled them and physically moved them.
I felt terrified at that moment, just totally terrified.
Did we conjure something up?
I feel that...
the seance may have amped up what was already there.
About a week later,
the boys are spooked by something new.
That's definitely the basement.
It's coming from downstairs.
It was terrifying.
You don't know what's down there.
- What was that? - I don't know!
You don't know if it's a real person,
it's a spirit, or -- or what's causing it.
I'm gonna go down.
The basement was always very creepy to me.
Just adrenaline running through my body and a little
bit of fear, not knowing what it was.
We heard a woman.
It sounded like crying, like real, like, sobbing noises.
The woman sounded distressed, like, wailing or screaming,
almost in a panic, or trying to get out
like she was trapped.
The back part of the basement
where the two walls -- there was about --
about 4 to 5 feet in between the two walls
that's just unaccounted for,
no reason for it to be that way.
And the one wall -- it was kind of thrown together.
It didn't match the layout of the basement.
This is where we heard the sounds coming from,
all the thuds, the crying, the wailing --
right inside this hollow wall.
I think we should go.
But just as the boys are about to leave...
My brother and I had heard the boom, boom, boom.
The poundings sounded like they were coming
from right in that hollow space.
Let's go.
At that point, I was done.
I just want to be out of here.
We were just terrified.
Then I kind of saw something shooting at my face.
Something smacked me on the ear,
and I heard it bounce off the wall.
There's nothing down there besides a ball on the floor.
There's no way that ball
could come that fast without somebody throwing it.
I had no idea what it was.
I was just running up those stairs.
I ran right up the stairs behind him.
What was that?
He was trying to explain.
He was showing me his ear, and it's just
a swollen red ear with a big welt.
And he's like, "Something hit me in the ear."
I don't want to go back down there.
It's just terrifying.
What -- what was down there?
We told my mom -- we were just terrified.
Where did this ball come from?
And how did it fly across the room and hit him?
My mother was very concerned.
What's happening, mommy?
She couldn't explain anything at all.
She was just terrified.
Total chills from everybody,
just trying to figure out what threw the ball.
A few nights later, the boys try to put
the experience behind them,
seeking refuge in their mother's room.
But the spirits have something else in mind.
After that, the spirit started
kind of forming itself for us to see.
One night, we were just sleeping.
I woke up in the middle of the night.
I actually saw the spirit right next to our bed.
She was an older lady, totally, like, dead,
and had cold, pale white skin,
and kind of like a hat and a purple dress.
And just -- just totally, like, an eerie stare,
looking, like, right into my soul,
just standing behind me.
She looked terrifying.
Her face was, like --
like a dead face,
directly this close, right next to me,
in a Victorian purple dress,
just standing there staring, like, dead in my face.
Just a blank stare, like, right at me.
I'm under the covers, just terrified.
Is she still there?! Is she still there?!
No. She's gone.
The only reason I took the covers off
is because Jesse assured me nobody was there,
so I looked, and there was just nothing there.
There's -- it was just like
we were the only two in the room again.
That was our safe space in my mom's room.
And...
Damn, dude.
I need a minute.
It, like, made me upset. Sorry.
I want to leave this house.
I don't even care if I'm with my family.
I just want to be out of here.
There really is no safe spot for us to sleep
or us to go when we feel freaked out.
It was definitely intense -- it was a lot
to deal with as a kid.
It was getting to us, like, emotionally, physically.
This terrifying encounter with the lady
in purple pushes the family to desperation.
