ആദ്യത്തെ 200 വരികൾ.

Previously on Criminal Minds: Evolution.

Moving now will give Henry some time to make some memories at the new place

before he moves away to some dorm somewhere.

- He'll probably stay on the east coast? - California's always been on his list.

How long are you out for?

Contractor says two, maybe three weeks.

- Thank you for this. - Mmm.

Why conduct these interviews?

So we can learn how Lee Duval became Elias Voit, became Sicarius.

You think if I walk you through everything,

you'll be able to stop someone else?

Welcome to The Sicarius Files . May I call you Elias?

It's sad how pathetic I am. But you know what's even more pathetic?

Someone who makes a show about it, and anyone who listens to it.

What do you want?

There's cash in the bedroom upstairs, all right? Just take it.

Take anything you want, please, just leave us alone.

You believe money will free you.

Yeah. That's what you want, right?

No!

Heresy.

Heresy is the reason I'm here.

- Heresy? - What are you talking about?

Confess.

I don't understand what you're talking about.

- For God's sake, just tell him. - Tell him what? I don't know.

I don't know! Whatever you did.

Tell me!

- Jesus Christ! - No, no.

- Please. - Tell me!

Please. Please. We have a son.

Okay, all right.

- I confess. - What?

I confess.

The truth is, it was me, all right?

I was the one. I ordered the layoffs at the company last year, okay?

- Oh, God. Charles. - I know. I know. I know.

We didn't need to do it, but we did, all right?

And if you're one of those people, I'm…

I'm sorry. All right? It was… It was a mistake.

- We shouldn't have done it... - He can… He can make this right.

- You can do that, can't you? - Yeah. Yes, of course. Of course I can.

See? He can fix this for you,

and this can be all over, and you can let us go.

I swear to God.

I swear.

No!

Oh, my God!

"One's work may be finished someday, but one's education never."

Alexandre Dumas.

All of these pages? And they're not Photoshopped?

No. In fact, forensics confirmed that ink was pressed to paper

with the type bars of an analog typewriter.

Jesus! I mean, the time and effort.

Someone really did not appreciate.

Voit calling them pathetic on Garrity's podcast.

How seriously should we take this?

Voit thinks very seriously.

He thinks it's a threat?

He thinks it's intended to get his undivided attention.

Like some crazy, disillusioned fan?

Who now has something to prove.

So we could be looking at Voit's very own Mark David Chapman.

I assume no prints were recovered?

Or DNA, but based on the postmark,

we believe it was deposited in a drop box somewhere in Kensington, Pennsylvania.

It's a neighborhood in northeast Philly.

Okay, well that narrows it down, doesn't it?

Yeah, it does.

- Have you followed up with Voit yet? - Uh, I'm gonna head there now.

- Keep me updated. - Absolutely.

Okay, so… pretty sure I'm being ghosted by my son.

Oof. Three texts and no reply. That's… teenagers.

Henry's gone MIA before, but this, this is like texting with a monk.

Probably overwhelmed.

College applications and everything. Maybe why he wants to stay local.

Local? Wait, what are you talking about?

I-I told him he should talk to you.

This is the first I'm hearing about it. What do you mean?

Oh. I'm interrupting. My doves, there is something out in Colorado

that desperately needs our attention. Sorry, let's go.

Okay.

My people, the crossword clue of the day is heresy.

As in sacrilege, blasphemy, heathenism.

I bring this up because we have an unsub in Colorado Springs

who has killed at least two women by beating them to death with,

Dear Goddess, a sledgehammer,

but not before accusing the latest victim, Mary Tolson, of, you guessed it, heresy.

Leaving a living witness is a pretty bold statement.

And risky considering he's not concealing his face.

Penelope, have either surviving spouses met with a sketch artist?

Yeah, but the descriptions are so vague local PD don't think they're any help.

He must present as very average, hard to identify,

especially since he's also getting in-and-out of the victims' homes unseen.

That speaks to a high level of organization and planning.

Coupled with an explosive rage.

I mean, to use a sledgehammer to essentially destroy a family

for some kind of what, perceived sin?

Time out. All men, please immediately go to therapy. Thank you. Time back in.

But the fact remains that he is…

He's not committing physical violence against the whole family.

No, he's inflicting emotional violence to the surviving family.

Especially to the husbands,

since it appears the unsub broke into the homes

after the teenage children left for school.

So sparing those kids from actually having to witness the violence

could speak to the unsub's own history of trauma.

Maybe the heresy this unsub perceives

is something to do with a fucked up way of protecting them.

All right, Dave, Tyler, we are headed to Colorado Springs.

Luke, JJ, I need you two to stay behind and help Tara with Voit.

Looks like he has sparked a fire that we are going to have to put out.

Laundry crew from C Block authorized to Work Area 3.

You struck quite a nerve out there.

Whoever this was couldn't help himself, he had to respond.

It's geometry.

This all means something to him.

I bet he typed up dozens and dozens of these that weren't good enough to send.

Okay, so you're saying he's patient.

I'm saying he's precise.

He's like you.

- The old you. - He aspires to be.

All right, so you don't think he's committed an act of violence yet?

I don't. This sort of focus, it's transference. He's still evolving.

All right, but this kind of transference,

not to mention a highly developed obsessive-compulsive disorder,

- may be innocuous on their own... - Yeah, but mix the two together,

it can take you into the darkness,

especially when you've suffered an injury to your ego.

Yeah, thanks to you.

I was a little pissed off when I went at Garrity, okay?

And yes, I maybe, I maybe could've chosen my words a little more wisely, but I…

And you should have. You said it yourself.

Your celebrity carries influence.

This guy was just looking for a reason to get started.

This isn't gonna be the last time he reaches out.

Yeah. Yeah. That's what we're counting on.

He zip tied Mary Tolson, dragged her…

Same drag marks from the chair legs were at the house of victim one, Zoe Faldo.

He's making the victims face their husbands before he kills them.

Maybe he's shaming the wives?

Maybe because he has his own wife that he blames for the end of their relationship?

Could explain the explosion of anger.

It's possible, a lot of unsubs are triggered by marriages ending.

Why not take out that physical violence on the entire family?

Why switch to a psychological torture?

Particularly on the husbands who are forced to sit and watch.

Ooh. I see those wheels turning. Let's hear your theory, Agent Green.

Something feels off about what happened between the two victims.

The husband of victim one, Gary Faldo,

said the unsub knocked him out before killing his wife,

but he didn't mention the unsub saying anything about heresy.

And the first time that word popped up was right here with the Tolsons.

What if Charles Tolson heard about what happened with the Faldos...

And he hired a guy to make it look like the same crime.

Copycat crime.

He gets to draft off the media frenzy. I know it sounds elaborate.

Sometimes the more elaborate, the easier it is to mislead.

- Right. - But the only problem with your theory

is the blood on the zip ties.

- What blood? - Go to the last page.

Thoughts?

Yeah.

Charles Tolson was trying to get free when the unsub started killing his wife,

so much so that he cut through his own flesh.

Not really the effort you make if you hired the killer.

Not so much. You knew that the whole time?

What did I tell you? Reps, you need more reps.

You always have to run through a few bad theories to get to the good ones.

I guess.

But you need to start living in the crime scene more.

Let's… Look, here. Take a seat.

Now, I'm the unsub and I have a sledgehammer.

You're accusing me of heresy.

What else?

You're demanding answers. You're interrogating me.

Would I tie you up just to ask questions? I have a goal in mind.

You have me facing my spouse.

And you are accusing me.

And?

And so…

I'm on trial. He's putting them on trial.

For heresy.

Mr. Tolson, I know this isn't easy.

My son is at my sister's house asking over and over what's going on.

I mean, what am I supposed to say? I can't even take him home.

I mean, hell, you won't even let me go home.

I'm so sorry,

and I know that it's not easy to integrate back into your daily life after this.

Mary, she did so much for us.

I feel so lost. I should've helped more.

I mean, who could… who could do this?

We think she was specifically targeted

for a reason that ties to this man's religious beliefs.

Did your wife hold any present day beliefs

that might have been in conflict with certain religions?

No, I… I don't… I don't think so.

We didn't really talk about that stuff.

Now you said that the man was difficult to describe, no defining characteristics,

but was there anything else about him that spoke to a particular theology?
