Hey everybody and welcome to Battlebots White Night.

I'm Chris Rose.

Each and every week the world's top combat robots do get out in a contest of crush to see who's in the hunt with a giant nuts.

And speaking of crushing, UFC star Kenny Florian knows a thing or two about packing a wall up.

We've got a stacked fight card tonight.

See any fighters who like out there Kenny?

I seriously like them all.

We've got some rising stars, some fan favorites, and of course some big time legends, especially in that main event.

Then let's start there.

We're the 2016 runner up bomb show.

Vases off against Bronco, the most powerful flipper in the sport.

They're always looking to put on a show.

Oh my goodness.

This is the Bronco we know so well.

That's going to be a flippin blast.

We've also got a battle between two internationals.

When the Netherlands, Patoonia, faces off against the UK's Montsew.

Both of those teams are looking to move to 2 and 0.

We've got a compelling clash of styles as the Razer 2th full body spinner of Captain Shredderator.

Takes on the high powered flipper of Sub-Zero.

Fan favorite Zoe Stevenson and Chump makes her 2018 debut.

And she's coming in with some serious new tech on that thing.

Yeah, it's like a self-driving car.

If the car also had an autonomous 9 pound hammer attached to it today.

Tonight's opening fight features two bots looking to make their mark in the 2018 competition.

Reality.

Hailing from Holland with a vicious looking drum spinner.

They're led by 32 year old Tim Balan, who has over 120 fights under his belt.

But this marks the first time he'll be competing on American soil.

He'll be facing off against Jameson Goe and Sobley.

Baruch.

Show us who we're working with tonight.

Get on in here, my man.

Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready?

It's throwback by your time.

And the red square.

This bot will cut you with hot steel like your three-course meal.

It's time to make reservations at TG Die Friday's.

It's Sobley.

There's Jameson Goe with that diamond tip saw.

So impressive in his first match.

I'm not sure how the bananas are strategy for this one, but I guess we'll just have to find out.

And the blue square.

This bot is going to hit you with a Bohemian slapsity.

Is this the real life?

Is this just fantasy?

Here on this fight night, there's no escaping reality.

Joining us from the Netherlands is Tim Balan's.

He's fighting for the first time in the heavyweight division.

What's he bringing to the table?

Well, that thinks got a 68-pound drum.

One of the heaviest in the competition, and it's actually got the weapon motor packed right in them.

Well, I guess that's one way to protect your electronics.

Sobley's is a very strong circular saw.

So we've added a lot of extra armor on the top.

It's our first fight, so we're going to hit him hard.

Hit fast, right fast.

I think we'll be fine, but it's all about getting the first hit.

My team is definitely feeling pretty good.

We have momentum after that first victory.

To get the win tonight, we're going to take their large weapon.

We're going to show them that it won't work against us, and then hit them hard on their drum.

We're not afraid of any spinner, and we also have KO capability.

Robots at the end.

There's that great claim on Sobley's.

What do you keep in your eye on here, Jenny?

Look for Sobley's to use that wide scoop to try and bully reality around the box.

He wants to drop that saw, cut into his opponent, and flame their internals.

Reality's going to have to stick and move, and get at those exposed wheels of Sobley's.

Ready, ready.

Two bots, a single three-minute bounce.

Victory will be declared by a panel of judges, or by a knockout.

As always, the ultimate goal to completely destroy or disable your opponent.

Here comes Sobley.

Get right in the grill of reality.

Try to take the front out of the rail.

He's right in front of us.

Now he's a fire-breathing dragon.

Oh, hold on.

Look at that, that drum spinner is still ready to work.

Reality.

Try to get at those tires, Jenny.

That's right, Sobley's wants to stay squared up here.

Oh, there's a shot.

Look at that driving by James and Go right back in position.

Oh, oh, man.

James should go just because he's taking reality to the screws.

Now he's going to take a bite out of him.

Yeah!

I feel like I'm in a scene from the Texas James on Massacre.

Well, we're finding out exactly why James and Go was so confident.

James and Go, Major in the engineering, minor in welding.

He's got a big future this kid.

Oh!

That drum spinner on reality has got to get to the right spot

of Sobley's, but he can't get around him.

Every single time Sobley's is going right underneath reality.

Reality just can't get, oh, now he's getting underneath.

This could change the game if he's able to get underneath Sobley's.

He can start to cause some damage.

He's just not able to get underneath those four.

Sobley's scooping him up again.

And reality almost gets taken into the screws.

Now he's up on the screws.

He's got halfway through this opening round.

And reality is in some serious trouble.

Reality's got to get himself off, but it does.

Oh, and that's a little of a nice shot.

And reality started to get back into this fight, Chris.

You can see it actually bent back that little fork on Sobley's

with that last shot.

And reality, keep it up.

Sobley's has controlled this fight.

But reality, remaining impressive,

there is just so much power in Sobley's.

He's just sending reality to everyone.

He takes him into the screws. He takes him into the rails.

Has him near the pulverizer in here.

Have a little saw time.

Yeah.

Under a minute to go, and now watch out for those kill-sausage

that'll pop out of the floor.

But reality's more bright to the plane that's attacking from the top.

Yeah, that's the most powerful plane.

It's a competition, and now he's sending one of the comforts

and the drugs that he wants to do it.

Let's remember that the reality's motor is actually inside

of that drug spinner.

It could be vulnerable.

It looks like it's having trouble spinning up.

Less than 30 seconds to go in the round.

Reality must be thinking,

get me out of this nightmare.

But Sobley just keeps coming back for more.

He can't escape this reality.

Uh-oh, Sobley goes,

Oh, I can't escape it now.

What a hit by reality.

Some valuable points right there.

10 seconds to go.

This one will go to this.

This reality needs one more big shot.

Damn it, Chad.

But Sobley's has other ideas.

He is James and Goat delivering another powerful performance.

Yeah.

What an opening fight.

gaming industry icon Naomi Kyle,

and former Battlebox bad boy Derek Young.

They're judging on a five point scoring system.

One point each for strategy, control, and aggression,

and two points awarded for damage.

Jenny, what are they looking for here?

Well, Sobley's controlled this fight from the opening bell.

He was able to get underneath reality with that wide base.

And then he got that blade involved early,

sparks all over the Battlebox.

And then taking reality for a spin into the screws and the rails.

So much power, so low to the ground.

Time ran out on reality.

Well, Sobley's head to 2-0 on the season.

Let's find out.

The winner by unanimous decision is Sobley.

So an impressive debut for reality.

And for James and Goen Sobley,

please still don't know what the banana was for,

but they moved to 2-1-0.

I tell you what, out of any bump builder here,

any driver, this guy is the most confident and most intense.

Out of any one we spoken to.
