I've got a bearded dragon with me today,

her name is Blu.

She's got an eye and it's giving her a little bit of problems.

I'm hoping it's nothing major.

Come on in, let me see.

Bearded dragons are funny animals.

And lots of people have them because they are not

that hard to take care of.

I'm not sure if she scratched her eye somehow.

Bearded dragons actually make awesome pets.

As long as you keep them warm, they're happy.

See right now it's closed.

And it's almost stuck together.

And there's infection in there.

It's basically conjunctivitis.

That can come from many different reasons.

This is an antibiotic salve.

With some antibiotic we can save the eye.

One drop, twice a day.

Five days, see what it does.

Okay.

Prognosis for Blu is good.

Funny animals, really.

We may have some permanent damage to that eye,

but most likely it'll heal up good.

She's a great cat.

She really does not care what anybody else

thinks about anything.

Jake is here today with his cat Orange Cat.

He's kinda wondering if she's pregnant 'cause

she's very round.

We found a stray cat that kinda showed up on our

front door step about a month ago now.

She's really snuggly, probably the most snuggly cat

I've ever had.

I'm not normally a cat person.

And this is Orange Cat?

This is just, we don't know her name yet,

she hasn't told me.

I think she might be pregnant.

She's a great looking cat, so she'll probably have great

looking kittens too, so.

She's guarding her abdomen pretty well

'cause it feels weird.

She's kind of a larger cat, so it's difficult to feel if

there are small kittens in there.

Belly is pretty full.

Might be a burrito.

She's been eating a lot.

Makes sense if she's a stray, she hasn't' been getting a

whole lot of food this winter time.

I can't tell whether Orange Cat

is pregnant or not.

She's not pregnant. I bet.

Next step is to take an X-ray to see if we see any babies.

My daughter, she's 6,

she would absolutely love to have kittens.

No bambinos.

There are no babies.

She's just kind of a, a large round cat.

Who, maybe she likes snacking on burritos like Jake thinks.

So this is her stomach, this is all food.

Holy smokes.

You're doing a good job fattening her up.

That's right.

She looks like she's in really good shape.

The other thing I was gonna do is scan her for a microchip.

That's a really good idea yeah,

if she's somebody else's cat.

Nope.

No microchips or nothing in her,

so I guess we'll keep feeding her until she wants

to go live somewhere else.

She's a nice cat.

She's a great cat.

Jake is going to be the perfect owner for Orange Cat,

he clearly cares about her a lot.

And so I think Orange Cat got pretty lucky.

She's normally a sucker for getting scratched

right behind her shoulder blades.

Today I was out doing my chores and I found a sick chicken.

She had kind of a bloody head, didn't look good.

I'm gonna take her in to have her looked at.

Hey dad, I have a hen fight.

And this one was the loser.

What the heck?

Charles likes his chickens.

They got her foot first, and then her left wing.

And he found that this chicken was not doing good,

and the others were pecking at it.

I think they got her injured first.

Yeah.

See the biggest problem is when they are dying,

they're beating her up.

The other chickens want to get rid of it,

because a sick animal is a danger for the herd.

Dang it.

Look at this. There's nothing there.

- I know. - Feel that.

This chicken is as skinny as a rail.

She has not been eating, she's been sick.

What has she been sick with?

That's what I don't know.

Let me get a little bit of that stool sample.

The manure does not look good.

So I'm checking it.

Okay that's good enough, set her up,

otherwise she will be dead in no time.

First thing that I'm worried about is some systemic

disease that can infect the entire flock.

Maybe we'll treat the whole bunch for coccidia.

And of course, I'm worried for the chicken.

I don't see coccidia, that's good.

There were no parasites.

Well I don't see anything except bad kidneys.

But there is such a tremendous amount of uric acid crystals.

This chicken has bad kidneys.

Keep this one separate and I'm not sure if it's going

to make it or not.

Dang chicken.

This is something that just happened.

So yes, do some antibiotic just in case it's

just a kidney infection.

And then give it time to heal up.

Okay take her home, keep her warm.

Say a prayer but most likely it won't make it.

We're not quite sure why but there is some sort of

infection or something causing her kidneys to fail.

If her illness is contagious...

Quarantine will be the only way to make

sure it doesn't devastate his entire flock.

If she's a fighter, she has a chance.

If she's kinda given up then she doesn't.

I don't know what's going to happen.

Ronda's brought me one of her goats to look at.

The doe has got a swollen teat on the one side.

She just wants to know if there's anything she can

do to avoid it or what she might have done to cause it.

How you doing there girl?

Okay so how long has she been swollen?

Three days.

Woops had her babies two weeks ago and she just

had one buck kid.

He's only nursing on the one side.

The side he's not nursing is huge and swollen.

Easy mom.

Hang on good girl. Easy babe, easy.

We're milking milk out of the teats and comparing

one side to the other.

To look to see if the milk's the same quality and consistency.

Okay there is a little bit of difference.

Here's the good side.

Okay, when we mix it, if we watch it, here,

in here it'll swirl and you can see a little bit of discoloration.

They're coming from the same animal,

you'd think both glands would milk the same consistency of milk.

So when you squirted one side and the other side,

there would be no difference.

But what I'm seeing is the swollen side's a little bit thinner,

it's a little bit more watery.

It was very interesting to learn about the swirl

that she was talking about.

Like it's not terrible bad chunky mastitis gross.

But it's kinda going that way.

I think that there is some infection in there,

so we're going to treat her appropriately.

I would put her on antibiotics for four or five days.

Milk that quarter all the way out at least,

I would milk her out twice a day.

Okay.

The other thing you could do with her is she

could have a couple aspirin.

So two regular strength people aspirins twice a day,

maybe three days 'til that swelling comes down a little bit.

Okay.
