The first 200 lines.

It's Glass Mask

A lady spy in love! The purple rose has the scent of danger!?

But!

Hello everyone, I'm the lead actor of this movie, Kitajima Maya.

I am Himekawa Ayumi.

By the way, Ayumi...

Yes?

This Movie's lead character Kitajima Maya

Don't you think it's a little too on the nose, having "THE MOVIE" in the title?

Maya's Rival Himekawa Ayumi

You do see a lot of movies with "THE MOVIE" in their title lately.

It feels like it's used often for movie editions of television programs.

U****ru THE MOVIE O**************N THE MOVIE

Now, today's feature, "It's Glass Mask, But! THE MOVIE

A lady spy in love! The purple rose has the scent of danger!?" has a really long title.

But I hear this title was decided on before they even knew what would be in the movie.

What?! That kind of thing happens?!

Next, the posters were printed.

This film opens June 22, 2013,

but the poster's final draft was finished on March 22nd.

Release: June 22, 2013

March 22: Poster Finalized April 2nd: Preview Complete Releases June 22, 2013

So they decided it was a spy movie before they knew what would be in it.

And the movie's preview was finished on April 2nd.

However, at that point, there wasn't even so much as a summary of the plot, let alone a script!

That's a very novel way of making a film!

Incidentally, when the posters were finished, the director hadn't been determined yet.

So, I hear there were these stickers put on the posters.

If they aren't there, it means the theater staff lost them, or thought it was too much of a bother.

Why not take a look on your way back from the theater?

March 22: Poster Finalized April 2nd: Preview Complete April 13: Scenario Writing Begins Releases June 22, 2013

The conversation we're having right now was hurriedly written on April 13th at around 10:30 AM

in at a café near Ikebukuro Station West Exit by the director who had only just been chosen.

You can make a movie in that short a time.

Furthermore, this move starts as the continuation of an ongoing manga.

Can we just move the story along like that? Won't the original creator get upset?

Besides, for the people who haven't read it yet, the manga's been going for over 30 years.

If we start in the middle, won't they be totally lost?

Have no fears!

Have no fears! ...Why?

So people who haven't read it yet can keep up, and as a review for those who have,

allow me to introduce...

Glass Mask

Explained in (Roughly) 2 minutes

You have about two to three seconds per volume.

Mai and Shiori, who are on the poster but not in the film will be mentioned!

They won't be in the main film!

Well, it's because the poster was printed before we knew what was in the film.

Right...

Then, after Glass Mask Explained in (Roughly) 2 Minutes,

please enjoy "It's Glass Mask But! THE MOVIE A lady spy in love! The purple rose has the scent of danger!?"

That title is long!

Glass Mask Explained in (Roughly) 2 Minutes starts now!

A plain looking, not terribly pretty or academically gifted girl, Kitajima Maya,

Kitajima Maya

lived in Yokohama with her mother who had a job as a live in worker at a restaurant in Chinatown.

Desperate for the theater ticket that a bully threw away,

she dives into Yokohama harbor in the middle of winter.

Who anticipated the flames that burned with violent passion in her heart whenever acting is mentioned?

One day, while Maya was acting out a drama she saw on TV for some local children,

this lady in black who happened to pass by,

the enigmatic actress of the theater world, Tsukikage Chigusa, sees her and is charmed.

Tsukikage Chigusa

You are a terrifying girl!

Tsukikage Chigusa is struck by the vast potential Maya holds as an actress!

After that, under the tutelage of Tsukikage Chigusa,

Maya acts with the school drama club and with the Tsukikage Theater Company in many plays.

She gradually builds her abilities and improves as an actress.

But, then...!

A thoroughbred of the theater world, with an actress for a mother and a director for a father,

Himekawa Ayumi stands in Maya's way!

Himekawa Ayumi

Maya is ready to give up, overwhelmed by the other girl's immense talent.

But, a hand of salvation is extended to her!

A cold and merciless young businessman who runs the largest production company, Hayami Masumi.

Hayami Masumi

Masumi's heart has been shaken fiercely by Maya's acting.

Along with purple roses, he covertly provides support, support and more support!

However!

He never reveals who the purple roses come from.

Since outwardly he puts business first in everything,

even using Maya's mother's death as an ingredient to improve her work, he comes across as heartless.

Later, both Himekawa Ayumi and Kitajima Maya get involved in major theatrical productions.

Each respecting the other's abilities,

they compete to star in the legendary play which Tsukikage Chigusa holds the performance rights to,

The Scarlet Angel.

They overcome many trials, competing with one another,

and ultimately both become young starlets who are the face of Japan.

The young actor who has fallen in love with Maya, Sakurakoji,

Sakurakoji Yuu

reveals his feeling to Maya,

but the influence of the man of the purple rose has grown on Maya's heart.

Meanwhile, as he come to realize the feeling he himself holds for Maya,

the man of the purple rose, Hayami Masumi, is torn between her and his fiancé Shiori.

Who will star in The Scarlet Angel, Maya or Ayumi?

And what will become of Maya and the man of the purple rose's love?

Tokyo Nukaishisou

Maya, I really do love you.

I'm sorry, I really don't feel that way about you, Sakurakoji...

It's okay. I should apologize myself.

What kind of role is a space flea!!?

This clearly can't have anything to do with The Scarlet Angel, right!!?

I brought you here as a change of pace since you seemed down while practicing for The Scarlet Angel.

But then I went and said something that only weighs you down more.

No! Sakurakoji, you're, uh... well...

Maya, I knew it, you only have room in your heart for the man of the purple rose...

Maya!

I'm sorry.

Flea... Fl... Fl...

I am space... the space flea...

Last night... I kept thinking about acting... so I couldn't sleep again...

Are you okay? Your test for The Scarlet Angel is coming soon, after all.

I'm sorry, Sakurakoji.

It's fine. I'm happy just having been able to see this lovely night view with you.

She fell asleep.

Still, if Miss Tsukikage were to find out she was here instead of practicing...

Tsukikage

Tsukikage

A shadow... over the moon?

Huh? Huh? What is this? What is this? What is this? What is this? What is this?

What is this? What is this? What is this? What is this? What is this? What is this?

What is this? What is this?!

Wait, what is this? What is this? What is this?!

Run!

Run for your lives! Ahhh!

There was a big shake just now, but the cause is still under investigation.

Please, remain where you are and do not panic.

It's pretty clear what the cause is!

Yes, things are proceeding as planned.

I see. Well done.

How are things on your end?

It seems we've captured the woman. She's gotten in our way many times before now...

Maya! Maya!

She's sleeping so peacefully... No, how is she not waking up in this situation?

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! What am I thinking?!

This is an emergency broadcast.

The Tokyo Nukaishisou has just been attacked by unknown forces.

From here, you can clearly see that is has changed the shape of Tokyo Nukaishisou.

This just in.

A statement of intent has been released by the mastermind of this attack.

Update

Statement released by culprit!!

The Moon

The culprit is calling herself The Moon.

Huh?!

Miss Tsukikage?!

Why would she do this?!

The Moon

Hey! Hey! Maya! Maya!

We need to run quickly!

What is that sound?

Accelerator!

Genzou?!

It's Miss Tsukikage's attendant,

the man who played opposite her as Isshin in The Scarlet Angel, Genzou!

Thank you for explaining that. Mr. Sakurakoji, hand Miss Maya here.

Oh, sure.

You hurry and escape as well.

Eh? Huh? Eh?

Lift us up.

What about me?! Aren't you going to save me?!

Wait!

Somewhere in Nara Prefecture

Thank you for coming.

Genzou.

Is Maya all right?

Yes, she's resting in the house.

Genzou! How could you leave me behind like that? It's just cruel!

How did you find this place?

I somehow found my way here by following Maya's aura and scent!

Creepy!

That's pretty off-putting, Sakurakoji.

Well, there's no need to stand around outside talking. Let's head inside.

Mr. Hayami, why are you here?

Genzou contacted me.

Um, where is Maya?

She was in Nukaishisou when the attack came, but I managed to rescue her.

She is resting in the next room.

Photoshopped the photo he secretly took last night for his own use.

She couldn't sleep last night because she was worried about practicing.

Were you okay, Genzou?

Yes, I was. But...

As you can see, Mr. Sakurakoji was badly injured in the accident...

Um, I don't think there was any accident about it. But I'm fine.

Anyway, where is this?

A safe house that Miss Tsukikage uses as a hideaway.

We should be safe here.

Oh, right! The TV showed that the perpetrator was Miss Tsukikage! Look at this newspaper!

Where is Miss Tsukikage?
