The first 200 lines.

Hello, everyone. Welcome to Sketchbook.

I'm Yu Hui Yeol.

March is just around the corner.

As you know, the school year begins in March.

Some people also graduate and start their first jobs around this time.

I'm sure many of them are excited and happy about the new beginning.

On the other hand, I'm sure that many of them are also scared of...

adjusting to a new environment.

There's something I really want to say to those people.

I'm not imitating a TV commercial, okay?

It's this.

Nothing happens to those who don't try.

I'm bringing this up because...

the guests whom we'll meet today are also...

embarking on new challenges.

Let me introduce the first guest to you.

He debuted as a member of a four-member ballad group.

He recently came back as a solo artist.

He is... This may sound a little inappropriate,

but he's known for acting silly and funny.

But as soon as he starts singing,

he transforms into the sweetest and most sentimental man.

Let's meet him now.

Please give it up for Jo Kwon.

Thank you.

It's been a while. Welcome to the show, Kwon.

Yes, hello. I'm Jo Kwon from 2AM. Nice to meet you all.

Kwon, how long has it been since you first debuted?

We debuted in 2008,

so it has been eight years?

- Yes, this is the eighth year. - I see.

- It's been quite a while, then. - Yes.

We first met him through a programme for discovering young talents.

- That's right. - Right? How old were you back then?

I was 13 years old then.

- I was in the sixth grade. - You were a baby.

So how long has it been if you include those years?

If I include those years too, I've been around for 15 years.

- So almost half of your life... - Yes.

- has been devoted to music. - That's right.

But since Kwon started working at such a young age,

there was this rumour. I heard it too.

- You've never dated, apparently. - I did say that.

Is it still the case?

When we first debuted, we had no time for dating.

Plus, we weren't able to talk about those things freely.

Back then, I had no personal time at all because...

I was busy as a member of 2AM as well as with many variety shows.

But I'm 27 years old now.

I don't think my conscience will allow me to say the same thing now.

Right. What are you like when you date?

I would say I'm very devoted.

I wholeheartedly focus and treat my girlfriend very well.

Where did my confidence go?

So you say that you tend to be a devoted boyfriend.

- Yes. - What's the situation now, then?

Now? I'm single.

Why did you break up?

I'm not sure.

- I don't really know the reason. - Why is that?

I'm sure there was a reason. I guess I'm just not aware of it.

How did the two of you break up?

Well, just tell me very briefly.

We just went cold turkey.

- You just stopped talking. - Yes.

After a break-up, people usually call their ex when they're drunk.

Some even text their ex at 2am and say, "Are you sleeping?"

- Did you do any of that? - I intentionally avoided drinking.

I was scared that I'd do something and end up kicking myself for it.

So I didn't drink intentionally and kept...

trying to stay strong...

- and control my mind. - You made conscious efforts.

But I did reach out to her.

I'm telling you. It's impossible not to kick oneself after...

texting one's ex at 2am asking if he or she is asleep.

Some even ask, "What are you doing?"

I'm sure Kwon wrote this with extra ellipses,

"This song is all I can give..."

- Well, I'm older than you. - Right.

- I can give you dating advices. - Okay.

I've done many radio programmes as well. Ask me anything.

- Well, in my experiences... - What frustrated you the most?

The most frustrating experience was dealing with this girl...

changing all of a sudden when things were great.

- I see. The girl changed suddenly. - Yes. Why did she change like that?

- Did she stop talking to you? - Yes, that's right.

I don't know why she did that.

Kwon.

- Here's my answer. - Already?

To you, it may seem that she changed and stopped talking to you suddenly,

but I'm sure it's something she thought about over 100 times.

- She probably thought about it. - She was fine until the afternoon.

I guess she wasn't happy with you at night?

- With me? - Yes.

- What do you mean, exactly? - I'm not too sure.

How would I know?

Do your kidneys become weak at night?

- I'm not sure. - Okay.

In any case, sudden changes like that...

usually don't happen overnight.

And for men,

it often takes a big mistake or an incident caused by such...

- to decide to break up. - Right.

But for women, things gradually build up like this,

and come to a head eventually like a balloon popping with a needle.

I've seen many cases where women leave men...

because of something that is very small.

I'm thinking that she was probably bothered...

by something in the day-to-day aspect of the relationship.

Then after experiencing a painful break-up like that,

do you empathise with any particular songs that you didn't...

feel the same way about before?

This is getting too depressing.

Well...

Among 2AM's songs, there's a song called...

- "I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me". - "I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me"?

Yes. After experiencing a break-up,

I found myself wondering if she was doing okay...

and if she was...

also having a difficult time like me.

Could you please sing a little bit of the song?

We'd love to hear the part about what you just said.

It's sad.

It's very sad.

Yes. People tell me that I have a sad voice.

Tell me honestly. You have to be honest here, okay?

Have you ever cried while singing?

- While singing? - Yes.

Of course, I have.

Did you cry because you empathised with the lyrics?

Yes, that's right. I've also cried many times while listening to songs.

I've even cried while driving. I cry easily.

Is there a song that you remember specifically?

A song that really reminded you of your break-up.

I'd say it's "A Shot of Soju" by Lim Chang Jung.

I know that many men empathise with that song.

Once, I heard that song coming from four rooms at a karaoke,

and they were all crying.

- It's many men's favourite song. - That's right.

- Many men love singing that song. - Yes.

- Let's say... - Yes.

If your ex-girlfriend hears your song,

will she think, "This song is about me"?

Do you think she will be able to tell?

This thought used to come across my mind when I was writing songs.

I hope you're staying healthy This is from my song,

and I did wonder if my ex-girlfriend would know if the song is about her.

- Have you ever thought about it? - I think she will know.

- That the song is about her? - Yes.

- I see. - I think she'll probably know.

Let's say that she contacts you...

- after watching this show. - Okay.

"Kwon."

"I'm still..."

"waiting for you across the street." Let's say she's saying that.

What will you do?

I should go, of course.

I should go and see her.

- Will you see her? - Yes. That's what I think now.

- I see. - But it could change with time.

You never know what could happen with these things.

- That's right. - Yes.

I can tell that you still have some feelings left.

- Yes. - All right.

- Kwon. Don't be shocked, okay? - Okay.

She is waiting for you in the backstage now.

- All right. - Great. Thank you.

All right, let's move on.

As I mentioned, we first met Kwon as a young boy...

on the show for discovering young talents.

But he has grown into a 28-year-old man...

singing songs about love and heartbreaks.

Time flies, indeed.

As you can see, many people...

have come out to watch today's show.

Please say a few words before you leave.

After taking a long break,

I came back with my second solo album.

I made my new song because I really wanted to...

share my honest feelings with all of you.

I hope my song can speak to your heart,

and I hope you can continue to show me your love and support.

Next time I'm here, I'll make sure to bring my silly self with me.

All right. We'll listen to his new song...

and say goodbye to Kwon.

- Thank you for joining us today. - Thank you!

Thank you.

Thank you.

All right. Let me introduce the next guests to you.

They're often introduced with these phrases.

"Ultra-special".

"Indescribable".

"Incomparable".

"The UV of indie music". "The destroyer of folk music".

"A group known for the members' looks".

This group consists of unique, quirky members.

More than anything,

I think that their raw lyrics are what makes them so special.

In addition, one of the members recently appeared on...

"My Ugly Friends Festival", which created lots of buzz.
