The first 200 lines.
Dear Gangotri,
precious Ganga,
today l look at you...
almost the same way l did...
when l first arrived here.
Winter is coming...
and l may decide to leave.
You have held me despite all odds.
l don't think...
l will everfind a place as good as here.
Please show me what l must do.
l seem so undecided and confused.
Fairwinds blowing now
Just don't wait when a fairgirl comes along
Just don't wait when a fairgirl comes along
Don't miss this chance babe
Just don't wait
Just don't wait when a fairgirl comes along
They are all going into the fire.
lt's been 8 years.
Totally 8 years now...
in a cave.
So you must be quite serious about it,
if you want to stay in a cave,
because the outside world always pulls you.
Sooner or later, you know, you get...
Something is not right...
if you're not on the right path,
sometimes,
there are many dangers on the spiritual path.
Sometimes you get dull, sometimes you feel lonely,
sometimes you feel frustrated about certain things,
you are not progressing.
You have so many doubts...
and so it's a very very difficult journey.
There is a kind of emptiness.
Especially at this moment,
l am not totally feeling all right,
probably going to the temple might help,
or worshiping the gods.
Sadhu is a man...
going through shifts of consciousness...
between the mundane and what we would call...
higher aims of life.
''Sad''means truth...
and sadhu is a seekerof truth.
He is a holy man, a renounciant,
trying to live a simple life.
Chaste and pure.
He lives on the lap of mother nature...
in his reclusive cave,
at the very source of the Ganges.
Meanwhile...
sadhu his having a battle in his mental field...
which quickly tires him,
and he is not able...
to maintain the serenity in the Himalayas.
He must find peace.
His human nature is at play continuously...
between the mundane and the saint.
lf everything could be solved...
just by sitting in position...
and thinking about remembering god...
and getting enlightened,
life would be easy, wouldn't it?
But no!
There is a lot of gravity in everything.
The unconsciousness,
it always pulls you down.
So you know,
the mind, the naughty mind has to go out...
in search of other things,
and that's the most unfortunate thing.
But one always feels that ''l didn't get anything'',
there is something else somewhere else waiting.
The sound of the river is good.
The fire goes on. Just keep it burning.
Keep it burning, burning, burning,
lt was so cold. This blanket is nothing.
l was cold, so l didn't have a good sleep actually.
So strange.
Most of it l don't need anymore.
8 years.
New Kumbha Mela after 12 years.
More than 70 million sadhus...
and pilgrims reunite at Haridwar,
where the nectarof immortality fell in the Ganges.
All the sadhus are leaving forthe Maha Kumbha Mela.
Should l also?
This will be my first pilgrimage.
l don't know what l'm looking for,
but l'm ready for a change.
l hope this change will be good for me.
Otherwise, what am l looking for?
This is a big question mark.
lt's only a change.
Probably something better will happen,
probably something good will happen,
some bright things will happen.
Many sadhus, many people, ordinary people...
go on a pilgrimage barefoot,
you know,
for once.
Now l want to surrender for a while to the gods.
l'll go barefooted,
l'll eat whatever comes on the way,
whatever donation l get on the way.
So this is the greatest pilgrimage,
and then you come back, when your mind is quieter.
lf you persist in spite of all these things,
sometimes you are victorious.
Sometimes all those desires slowly, slowly go away.
There's a man on the other side of the river
Crying mama
Man on the other side of the river
Crying mama
You hear his voice singing out
When you're some miles away
You can here his voice singing out
When you're some miles away
There's a man on the other side of the river
Crying mama
There's a man on the other side of the river
Crying mama
Even when it's snowing, he's out there alone
Stormy, rainy or sunny
He's out there alone
lt feels good.
Let's see what unfolds in the next few days...
or this one or two month to come,
while l am here...
l need to get used to the crowd.
For health reasons, please do not smoke.
Victory to god's court! Victoire a la cour de dieu!
Victory to lord Shiva!
lt is a very good experience.
l was very cold in the morning,
but then l saw everybody having a bath.
l felt that l'm also...
part of the same humanity,
and so l also jumped into the water. lt was good.
Bless me, please!
l have stomach problems and diabetes.
You could be my mother,
how can l?
You are a yogi, god is with you!
Why did you come here?
To see the Kumbha Mela, it is my first time.
But my routine will change this year.
And to go where?
l will go...
elsewhere, l haven't decided yet.
l would probably say...
l'm more of a sadhu now than l ever was.
l am calm and serene,
my nature is different from all this.
That is not the problem.
No, it's a different story.
At what time do you take your bath in Gangotri?
My bath? - At what time?
At 9 or 10 in the morning, why?
No! You cannot do yoga like that.
Sorry.
My guru, he is the one on the sign,
have you seen his photo? Look!
Don't take this the wrong way,
but my guru wakes up every day...
at 2 in the morning for his ablutions.
lsn't that true, brother?
The food that you consume in 15 days...
is his offering to his fire every morning.
He will come and l'll introduce you.
What's his name? - Keval Puri.
Just like on the sign.
l've finally met him, my lord.
You've met him?
Very good, aren't you happy to have met him?
Yes, yes, of course.
You know, sadhus are always awake.
The night is there to bring you closer to god,
not to sleep.
So you must sleep little.
The night belongs to those who stay awake,
you know?
When you are not in peace...
you burn more energy.
That's when l need more sleep.
lnconscient!
For us sadhus,
only the inconscious sleep.
Sleep less! Observe more.
lf you sleep too much, you are an inconscious.
Normal people sleep, not the sadhus.
While they sleep, l stay up.
Do you understand?
Go and rest now, tomorrow we'll wake up early.
Do you want to take my place?
No, no, no.
Oh, l see.
Okay, us, we are friends.
