The first 200 lines.
I'm heading to the top of a very famous clock...
330-something steps.
..where very few people get to go.
It needs winding three times a week.
Ooh, now it's too fast.
What have I done?
Time to show you the view.
I've flown halfway around the world
and I'm gonna show you a side to the UK you've never seen before.
We're actually behind the face of Big Ben.
Welcome to Great Britain!
I'm on the road...
My other car is a matchbox!
..to meet the locals. Ugly!
..and some legends...
..in the land of Great Britain.
I learn about street life...
..park life...
..tackle some history... Charge!
..and take on their world champions.
For Australia!
..to find out what makes us the same...
Surfing, England style.
..and what makes us really different.
Whoo!
Before I can take you around Britain,
I need to get a handle on how the locals speak.
We sound really sympathetic and soothing and caring.
Like, they go, "Calm down, calm down, calm down."
Sort of draw out the accents. You know?
Sounds like we are singing rather than actually speaking.
My new mate Andy is an actor who knows the local lingo.
Hey, Andy, we're gonna start in London.
How do people around London sound?
If you were to do a posh London accent, something like...
If I study really hard for my exams,
Mummy and Daddy might buy me a pony.
If I study really hard for my exams,
Mummy and Daddy might buy me a pony.
Any good? Yeah - that was good, man!
And then we head for the north, Andy.
So Manchester's quite like that and if you say something like...
Go to the pub, drink beer, like, fall over.
I'm not even going to try that - that's too hard!
I tell you what,
I'll show you how a Vietnamese Australian might say that.
Go down to a pub, drink the beer and then fall over.
You should try that. You gonna try that? Go. Yep.
Go down to a pub, drink beer and fall over.
And then after that, we're gonna go to Wales.
What you gotta do with the Wales accent
is like you can't believe what you're saying yourself at the end of the sentence.
Cool. Now, probably the hardest one -
after that we go to Scotland.
Just do quite a nice, like, soft accent in Scotland, like an Edinburgh accen
Like an Edinburgh accent.
Do, maybe a harsh... more like a Glasgow accent, like that.
It's quite harsh. It's quite from the throat. I cannae understand a word you're saying, lad.
I can't understand a word you're saying, lad!
That was better than me, to be fair!
We better get cracking, then. Alright. Cool man - have fun!
Let's go!
Thousands of people from all over the world arrive here every week
hoping to make their fortune.
Now it's my turn.
London is a place of great opportunity,
however it can be tough
and that's why you've got to play to your strengths.
Today I want to try my luck at being a model.
Hello. Ugly.
Hi. It's Anh. Oh, yep, come on up.
This is one place where ugly is beautiful.
I just hope I'm ugly enough.
Hi, everyone.
Hi.
Hi.
Hi.
What do you do? I pop my eyes out.
How do you do that?
I squeeze the muscles at the back of my eyes
and I can still see you perfectly.
I can read while I'm doing it, use my phone!
It's brilliant.
That's the kind of reaction I normally get!
OK. This is gonna be interesting!
You get much work?
Just any excuse just to dress. I love dressing up.
I mean, I've been dressing for over 20 years
and my kids know, and they're cool about it.
And my daughter, yeah,
she's been with me a few times to a number of clubs.
And she says, "This is my Dad!"
Yeah. Yeah, tell 'em all.
It's like, you know, guys who go to...
..put their football kits on and go and watch football and shout
and, you know, I like to put on a dress and go out and club and dance.
So much talent in one room.
I wonder if they'll take me on.
Anh, if you want to come through, we're ready to see you now.
Wish me luck, guys. Good luck!
So if you want to come in. This is Mark - director.
This is Anh. Hello, Mark.
What is it? Anh? Anh.
Oh, right. Cool. Nice to meet you. Sounds like a girl's name, that!
So basically, I mean, to be an Ugly model,
we just need to put you through your paces a little bit.
Any hidden talents or...?
Yeah. I mean, you know, I can juggle.
How many balls can you juggle?
Just three. Let's see.
You want to be good now. Alright.
Any good, eh?
No, I can actually juggle for real.
Look at that. I can do a couple of tricks with it too.
Beautiful. Look at that.
It's cool. Very good. Very nice. Excellent.
So we'll see how well you photograph and how animated you are.
It's all about what you can bring out on camera, really.
So let's just get a few really overly happy, smiley...
There we go! Whoo-hoo! Really big cheer. Go for it! Yeah!
Excellent. Camera's just spilt your pint. Wicked.
Fantastic. You got any special dance moves or anything?
I can do the electric boogaloo.
Ey! That's nice.
OK, last pictures - just need you jumping in the air now.
One, two, three. Fantastic!
So do you think I'm ugly enough, guys?
I think the ugliest we've seen this week, possibly.
Ooh. You've been whacked with the ugly stick, innit?!
Excellent - I make the cut. I'm on the books!
That's nice. Perfect.
Angrier, angrier!
Can I give you another one?
Butch it out. There we go.
Excellent. Nice!
And then back. That's it. Wicked stuff.
As close as you dare go.
And big cheesy smile.
Lovely. Lovely stuff.
One, two, three. Ugly!
Yeah, officially ugly!
Now I've got a job, I need to get the look.
Brick Lane is the home of style now -
the way Carnaby Street was in the '60s.
Britain has given us great fashion inventions,
like the tweed jacket,
golf pants and the miniskirt.
Kate and Faruiza are gonna get me kitted out.
Hi, Adam. I've got a really hard case for you.
Blue polo.
Easy - it's not that bad.
He's a very badly dressed Australian.
Well, you're in the right place - we're quintessentially British.
It looks like Adam's raided his grandad's wardrobe.
OK, Faruiza, how about I do one look and you do one look?
Sounds good to me.
Oh, wow - yes. I think you look amazing!
You look so good, I think I'm gonna cry with happiness!
Good job, Kate.
Oh, yes. Wow!
Excellent. Faruiza, that's very quarter past two.
Quarter past two. OK, that's a look?
Hey, girls, let me have a go.
I think this is my favourite, girls. What do you think?
Adam, you dressed me like the duck, man!
Well, that's one stylish duck, mate!
I think he needs Maxxi.
Ugly!
G'day, Maxxi. Hi.
Anh.
Nice to meet you, Anh. Nice to meet you too.
Yeah. Welcome to my studio. Beautiful studio.
Maxxi's an up-and-coming designer
who's on the cutting edge of fashion.
I just need you to mix something up for me, you know?
Mm-hm. OK.
How you going? Alright?
Hello, ladies!
You saw it here first.
It's a Maxxi - that's with a double 'X'.
Extreme knitwear! What do you reckon, guys?
Well, at least my hands are warm!
London is the world's most-visited city.
People come here to see the sights, take in some culture and shop.
London is a shopper's paradise, especially for silly stuff.
Look what I just found.
How do I look? Do I look handsome?
That's my son's present done!
Time for some sightseeing... in Hyde Park.
500 years ago, Henry VIII used to hunt deer and wild boar here.
These days, it's famous for something quite different.
"I'm the light of the world.
"Those who follow me will not walk in darkness."
This is Speakers' Corner -
anyone condemned to be hanged from the gallows
used to say their last words here.
Now it's the home of freedom of speech.
Why should somebody have wealth 3,000 times greater than the median?
Absolutely anyone can jump on a soapbox
and voice their opinion about anything.
