- 5,000 people, in the middle of the desert, right?

We're here to rage some serious (beep) miles!

- We're here in the Sonoran Desert, in Arizona,

for the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo!

This is like, the Burning Man of mountain bike racing.

A circus beer party,

of all the different kinds of crazy riders

in the United States.

One, two, whoo!

- There's rocks everywhere,

there's cactus on every side!

- It's like, we're storming the beaches of Normandy,

right now!

- It's gonna be one big rockin' party!

Welcome.

It's party time.

Three,

two,

one.

- The global adventure of a lifetime!

- So, this is our playground,

for the next year.

I've never been in anything like this!

they'll take you right to the limit!

How's it look?

- Nobody does what we do,

on the scale that we do it.

Get out there, and get 'er done!

- Just feeling so inspired!

Show these boys what it's all about!

This is gonna be

the most insane year of our lives.

Boom!

Ready.

Set. - Bring it on!

Boundless.

I'm Paul "Turbo" Trebilcock.

I'm 49 years old.

I'm from the Hammer, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

I'm a carpenter, and I love endurance racing.

A lot of my friends call me Turbo.

I'm just really fast.

The stem, of my adrenaline buzz,

came from my earlier partying days.

Just that little buzz you used to get, from other things.

And now, I'm totally the opposite.

I'm crazier, but in a different way.

I found, that, the running was a better outlet.

It was more healthy.

And that's when I met Anne.

My wife and family are totally behind what I do.

When they have to live with me, when I don't exercise,

and I don't get my adrenaline,

they know that I'm usually grumpy.

So, I think they're happy, that I do this?

What's up brother?

Look at you!

- Good to see ya. - Looking trim!

I am trim!

You got trim?

A little bit, a little bit.

A little in the back?

Yeah, you know.

Hey!

Hey!

It's time, for this mountain bike adventure.

You know what?

I'm a little bit sore, on the butt cheeks.

Really?

Yeah, it's hard on me!

Look at this!

Heyo!

Team America!

Hi!

How's it going, brother?

You ready to be a two-man for this race?

Yeah.

Vroom!

All right, muscles.

You can carry the mic!

Wow!

I'll carry your dainty, little...

It's like training, dude! - You know,

Hunter drinks mochaccinos, extra cream?

That's a fact!

Dammit, Hunter!

Who is this guy?

- You got some baggage this year, dude!

All right, I'm used to it.

Oh, man!

Causing a disturbance, already!

So, we're driving

into the start of the Old Pueblo.

There's tents everywhere.

There's people drinking.

And it's exciting, man!

I'm a people watcher.

I love weirdos.

I love nut bars.

I love hippies.

Okay!

Yes!

Just arrived at

the Old Pueblo base camp, here.

This is huge.

There's already thousands of people set up.

Got campers.

Sun's already high in the sky.

There's not a lick of shade.

There's something in the air.

It smells, like adrenaline!

Can you smell that?

My name is Todd Sadow.

I'm the co-founder of the 24 hours in the Old Pueblo.

The mountain biking started, as a counterculture society.

So, there's a lot of libations and combustibles,

that come along

with the counterculture, getting away from society.

16 years ago, it was the Woodstock of mountain biking.

Burning Man's a little more trendy these days.

Welcome.

It's party time.

So, this is

a little bit of a hectic period,

before the race.

You know, you pull the bike outta the box,

and make sure that it survived the trip.

- I brought the bike on an airplane.

So, everything's taken apart.

So, I gotta put it back together.

We've rented Hunter and Rory

some mountain bikes for this race.

Neither one of 'em does it a lot.

They don't have their own kits.

Not super smooth.

I think I'm gonna have a sore butt, afterwards.

But, that's what Hunter's here for.

Massages.

So long as there's no tuchas lingus going on,

we're okay!

I don't need to be on any diva bike.

This mighty steed.

Myself, against the cactus tundra.

This thing's going for the gold.

- I'm riding a full suspension bike, this year.

It's gonna smooth out the ride.

24-hour race.

It's a long time, to be on the bike.

So, you kinda want to take the edge off.

I got a lever on my bar.

It puts the seat up.

Get that full power, to your legs.

Because, when you're riding hills,

you wanna get the full leg extension.

The race course

is supposed to be really fast, pretty zippy,

and it just flows through the Sonoran Desert.

This is a 24-hour race.

The course is 16-mile loops.

The winners are hoping to do 21 loops,

which will be over 300 miles.

We're gonna break it into two teams.

So, this will be a relay race for us.

I am gonna race with Hunter,

in this 24-hour mountain bike race.

We decided to race together,

'cause we're both pretty competitive guys,

and when it's race day, we're amped up,

we wanna do our best out there, and go fast.

I'm pumped, to be part of the team.

In order to be a team,

we need to step your game up.

You need to look the part.

All right.

So, I made you a special racing kit.

Woo!

We're gonna be bros out there.

There you go.

I think, that speaks to you.

A flaming tractor!

Flaming tractor! (laughing)

I'm lookin' stoked!

- You do look good in it.

How's it feel?

I'm a little hot.
