Welcome to the 217th episode of Wednesday Food Talk.

Welcome. - Welcome.

Today's theme is...

a dish that can bring your appetite back during summer.

It has spicy and sweet sauce.

There is this soft and chewy meat.

You can also have fried rice at the end with the left-over sauce.

That would definitely bring back your appetite.

It's the best menu for a summer retreat...

where the air and the view are nice.

It's braised spicy chicken.

We have two guests here...

who have amazing singing skills and stage dominating power.

They are the ones who created a trot fever in Korea.

In a recent trot contest show, she won the second place.

Let's welcome Jeong Mi Ae.

Hello, Mi Ae.

She can sing in her seat. - I'm Jeong Mi Ae, a super mom...

who endlessly tries new things.

I won the second place of "Miss Trot".

Nice to meet you.

She is a beautiful lady who can sing really well.

Please welcome the popular trot singer, Kim So U.

Hello. Nice to meet you. My parents own a rice cake place in Sadang.

Please come and watch me.

Within 10 minutes. - It just resonates via her head.

Before the show got started,

Seok Jin said this.

"We have two amazing singers as guests today."

"We have to listen to them sing. We can't just talk about food."

They actually sang even though it was short.

I'm so relieved. - I know.

We might've regretted. - Right, if they didn't sing.

Nice to meet you, ladies.

They are the perfect guests for today's theme.

I hear everyone in your family loves chicken.

Yes. I have three kids. - That's right.

My 1st kid is 12 years old.

My 2nd kid is 4 years old, and the 3rd kid is 8 months old.

My first kid can just eat...

any kind of food.

My second kid likes fried chicken.

I am sure. - He loves it.

He likes having fried chicken.

For me, I like this braised spicy chicken...

that my mother used to make when I was young.

She has her secret recipe to her soy sauce.

She uses that soy sauce.

She also adds garlic.

She then adds green onions. That's all.

That is her recipe.

I'm used to that dish. - Right.

I make that a lot for my kids.

I make it for my husband too.

So U, your nickname is soju. - Yes.

She really loves alcohol.

Kim Soju?

During the pre-interview,

she said chicken is the best menu with drinks.

Chicken is your favorite food.

Right. I love to have chicken.

I love chicken so much that...

I have it at least twice a week. - Really?

I like dakbal too.

I like chicken gizzard too.

I like roasted chicken too. - Right.

When I meet up with my friends,

we go have braised spicy chicken...

when we want to have something special...

because it is a bit costly.

It's the best menu for drinks.

Seok Jin often has it when he wants to have something spicy.

Right. When I want to have something spicy and salty,

I visit this restaurant in Garosu Street.

It's nice to go there when you are with your friends...

and want to have something along with the drinks.

It's like tteokbokki sauce.

It's spicy, salty, and sweet. - Right.

I always visit this place whenever I feel like having stuff like that.

It's usually shared by many people.

They usually chop the chicken into small pieces.

So there are different parts of a chicken.

There must be your favorite part.

Right. - So it's nice to have it with...

those who have different chicken part preferences.

So that you wouldn't fight. - Some people like chicken breast.

Some people prefer chicken thighs like me.

Some people like wings, and some people like drumsticks.

How about you, So Eun? - Me?

I like chicken breasts in braised spicy chicken.

I would tear the flesh apart.

Then I dip it in the sauce.

I just like the texture so much.

The cause makes the meat less tough.

It makes me want to drink too.

It's like I have no choice. - You have the same taste as mine.

You have to dip it in the sauce.

You like chicken breasts? - Yes.

I know everyone has different preferences.

But for me, I like having chicken breasts like So Eun.

I like tearing the flesh.

Then I soak it in the sauce.

You soak the flesh. - That's right.

Then I have it with the sauce. It's really delicious.

How about you, Jung Min?

I don't like chicken breasts.

I really don't understand why people say it's delicious.

It's only tasty when you have it with the sauce.

To enjoy the pure taste of the meat,

I prefer to have the meat that is adjacent to the bones.

For instance, a wing or a drumstick.

I like having it with my hand because it's small.

I like the fun part of deboning it too.

I can also chew some cartilage too.

So I prefer to have those parts.

I like those parts too.

I don't really like a drumstick when I have fried chicken.

But I like the drumsticks in braised spicy chicken.

It's really soft that...

I can easily remove the meat. - You can remove the meat neatly.

That's right. - Yes.

For me, I also prefer...

the torn chicken breasts dipped in the sauce.

Surprisingly, I also like the chicken neck.

It's really small in a dish of fried chicken,

so there's not a lot of meat to taste.

As for braised spicy chicken... Especially for indigenous chicken,

it's fun to eat the chicken neck. - That's right.

I finally realized how fun it was to eat the chicken neck this time.

What about you, Chan Il? - Isn't the skin really good?

Gosh, the skin? - Yes.

At first, when you eat it,

you can taste the particular smell of chicken in the skin.

So the flavor from the skin is very greasy.

It's unexpectedly tasty. - That's right.

You must eat various types of toppings in braised spicy chicken...

and stir-fry rice in the sauce...

to complete your meal for braised spicy chicken.

Personally, what kind of toppings do you like?

My favorite topping for the dish is kalguksu noodles.

I don't think ramyeon noodles suit the dish.

I don't think the noodles mix well with the dish.

That makes the dish too salty. - Yes.

And as for udon noodles,

it tastes like only the surface of the noodles...

are coated with the sauce. - That's right.

The noodles don't soak up the sauce.

It doesn't mix well. - Right. It doesn't.

When I add kalguksu noodles,

the broth does get thick. - Right.

But personally, that's tasty in its own way.

And restaurants serve cooked udon noodles.

The broth can't get into the noodles.

As for kalguksu noodles, they are uncooked.

So the noodles soak up the sauce. - You're right.

That's right.

What about you, Mi Ae?

I like all types of noodles as my toppings.

I love all of them. Ramyeon, kalguksu, and glass noodles.

And among them, my favorite is the glass noodles.

I think glass noodles taste good in any dishes.

The texture is chewy.

And I think it's very easy to digest.

So I usually order glass noodles and eat them all by myself.

That's how much I like it.

Some people like adding noodles like Mi Ae.

Some must eat the stir-fried rice. - That's right.
