(Tom panting)
Something about that footage, which bothered me.
I couldn't help but feel the moment
they stepped off that trail.
They were in real danger.
I think people are scared
of what they don't understand.
It's comforting at the end of the day and
a lot simpler to believe there's nothing out there,
hiding in the dark corners of the world.
So the job stuff isn't going great,
but I've made a profile on a like film making website,
so I'm gonna look for some jobs on there today
and apply for some stuff and try and get things going again.
So I found a local job that I could do
with a camera gear that I've got.
It's like a nature documentary apparently.
Which is cool because I love hiking in the woods
and I like, you know, being, (phone ringing)
Hello?
- Yeah, hello. Is that Tom? - Yeah. Who is this?
Yeah, I just got your email, man.
Oh, hi. For the nature documentary?
Never mind that.
Just bring all your kit ready to shoot.
Okay.
Meet me at Foxhollow Woods 10:30 Friday morning,
and don't be late.
Um. (Phone clacks)
Hello?
What type of maniac calls you literally three minutes
after you've sent the email applying for the job.
"I know what I saw,"
and then there's a bunch of people just
basically having a go at him.
"Believe me or don't, the evidence will speak for itself."
So I am driving to meet this guy
and he just sent me coordinates
like a old school fucking map coordinates
the way to meet him.
Looks like,
oh fucking hell, is that him?
He looks mental.
Fuck's sake.
He's pissing.
He's literally fucking pissing.
If he comes over and shakes my hand now,
I'm not gonna be happy.
Oh fuck's sake.
- Hi, mate. - Tom?
Yeah.
How's it going?
Nice to meet you.
Just pop this on you mate, all right.
It goes... Want me to ditch this?
Yeah. Yeah.
If you take that off,
it's just gonna sit on your chest, that is.
It's like, yeah, that one through there.
Have we have we got all of this shit on?
Yeah, yeah.
Sorry, so that one goes over here
and look, got this, this looking be the sound then.
All these wires and I'm gonna get tangled up
and hold me up, man, you know?
I'll tuck them in.
We can tuck them up your top where we can,
yeah, may maybe we like,
I'll put a little clip there or something to keep it on you.
Yeah.
Okay.
Should be recording now.
So this is gonna get everything where I see here?
Yeah, that'll see where you see basically.
Do you know anything about Foxhollow?
Well, I spend a lot of time in the woods.
Go camping and stuff.
Camping and stuff.
Get in the car.
- What? Your car? - Get in the car.
Let me show you something.
Fucking hell, mate.
You live in here, do you?
This is a precipitation map.
Gives the amount of rainfall annually.
All the red areas are marked.
There's a lot of red areas,
there's a lot of fucking rain in Wales,
but this is where most of the sightings occur.
The areas marked red are over 40 inches of rain annually.
And there's one particular area
that has more of 40 inches of rainfall annually.
And that's here, Foxhollow.
My name's Christina Miles.
I've been a ranger in Foxhollow National Park
for the last six years.
Right now I'm working here
just doing admin duty for the park,
organizing the group tours,
answering the phones, that kind of thing.
I'm on hiatus from the park service while I take counseling
because it was me that recovered the camera,
Tom's camera.
I got a call saying
there were two cars parked at the trail head
and they'd been there for a few days.
Someone had seen two men entering the woods.
I just feel like...
(feet shuffling)
A couple drove up here a few years back around dusk time
and the woman was resting her head
against the passenger seat
and she suddenly saw the silhouette of this huge animal
run outta the woods from four legs.
The husband smashed the big bugger,
nearly had it there,
but it just slowly turned around, you know,
just glared at 'em right in the eyes.
These glowing yellow eyes
like he was looking into their soul, you know,
and he just reared up on his hind legs,
jumped clean over the bonnet
and fucked off into the woods.
(birds chirping)
Wait a minute. I didn't,
I didn't realize it was private property.
I thought it was public land we were walking on.
Restricted areas are for restricted people, man.
Okay.
So what are we looking for?
Scratches, scents,
bent over trees.
Snaps like this.
Just take these trees and then just whip them away.
(birds chirping)
You can't tell me that this is natural activity
that's going on here.
They've all been pulled over on purpose.
What for?
They make dens. They make nests.
They're probably scared of us as
other people are of them.
(Trapper whistling)
Do you hear that then?
No.
You got to hear the little knocks.
They like to knock against the wood.
(birds chirping)
I don't know about all this.
Am I losing my mind
or is he actually talking about Bigfoot?
How are we supposed to hear, mate,
if you're whittling all the time?
Do you know what they sound like?
No.
Really?
You do it.
Higher.
I can't get my voice that high.
Leave it to me.
Why would someone
just leave their camp set up like that?
Do you reckon someone scared them off?
Something.
Nothing in there.
Somebody's left here a bit chop or something.
It's gonna get dark soon.
We better set that camp here I think.
- All right. - For the night.
(tarp rustling)
(wind blowing)
Sandwiches for tea. (Trapper laughs)
Do you know what?
I'm gonna make a believer out of you
before the end of this trip.
I don't know about all that.
I'm telling you.
Just keep an open mind, man.
I'll stay tonight but,
we'll see how tonight goes then,
Well, - Talk about tomorrow.
I mean you could always make your own way back out
in the dark
on your own.
I might.
I'll stay for tonight.
