We're really trying to hold it together for the north.

For their fair share.

Wicked Tuna Outer Banks.

It's gonna turn into another Civil War.

Reigning champion Reels of Fortune holds the lead.

But fellow Southerner Doghouse is less than $300 behind followed by Northerner

Pinwheel and finally Southern boat Little Shell.

Meanwhile three time top earner Fishin' Frenzy joins Northern boats,

Hot Tuna and Falcon with zero profit so far.

Take your time back there.

Everybody watch each other's back.

All right, guys, it's getting nasty out.

It looks like we're gonna get more wind than they forecasted earlier than they forecasted.

-What do you think, Gel? Is this place fun?

I'm having the time of my life.

I took a huge risk buying this new boat and I knew coming down to the

Outer Banks with a new boat and a new fishery for my kids, and my crew,

it was gonna take us a little while to get in our groove.

We'll fish until it gets too , let's see if we can get a bite before we go home.

Yeah.

But we haven't caught a fish.

In fact, there's only one yankee boat that's caught a fish so far

and that's the Pinwheel.

If we're not careful, those Southern boys are gonna run away with this thing.

We need to catch fish now.

-Down here in the Outer Banks, it's a whole new ballgame from back home in Gloucester.

With this weather down here, it's gonna be a hell of a ride.

Shiver me timbers.

It ain't getting no warmer is it?

It is freezing cold out here, neighbor.

Good news is, about 2:30.

-What's the bad news? -Days are getting longer. -That's pretty good.

Well, we got lucky enough we caught the first fish of the season.

So, we're optimistic.

Once you catch your first one, you know it gets a little easier.

There we go.

Last year was really enjoyable for me because we wound up on top and

it was, it was awesome, it was great.

And I would love to do it again this year.

But because we did good last year,

it doesn't mean that we're gonna do great this year.

It costs $350 a day to come roll the dice.

So, you come out here and go fishing four or five days and don't catch one,

next thing you know, it takes a whole fish to pay for the money you've spent.

So nothing's guaranteed in this fishery.

There's still some boats that haven't caught a first fish.

Right now we got a lot of boats trolling around here today.

Greg hasn't caught one yet and I know Greg.

Until he catches one, there's gonna be a little tension building.

Oh, yeah, that's Griff. There he is.

Griff showed me last year he's gonna catch some fish and he started out

this year the same way.

We're behind. We need a big bite.

Been rough. But, uh, we'll see what happens.

I feel like today's our day.

Maybe we'll get a big fat momma a ride to Wanchese.

Only four boats have caught Bluefin, even the Northern boat Pinwheel.

I know we're a threat, but with zero fish right now, we're not very threatening.

I refuse to lose a second time, especially with a Northern boat involved.

Blowing a little bit more than we thought it would be,

but hopefully the fish are here today, they're hungry, they're ready to eat.

The Northern boats are out here trying to make a living just like us.

I don't have to be happy that they're here.

We've got a small quota this year.

We're only allowed to have 39 metric tons split between all the commercial vessels

in the Outer Banks.

39 tons turn out to be 200 to 300 fish and they're taking a piece of it.

Caught a lot of Bluefins on days like today.

It's rough, got the steam coming off the water where it meets the cold air.

It's Bluefin season.

You can look and tell.

Watch out! Rinse.

-So you wanted to go tuna fishing?

You guys wanted to go tuna fishing.

These Southern waters are kicking our ass but we're not gonna

let it get to us.

We have to start catching fish or we're never gonna catch up.

We're just hoping for a miracle here.

There's no doubt there's a lot on the line for us.

We have to be successful this season.

Hopefully this is the year that the Northern boats will give the Southern boats

a run for their money.

Not sure what's on here but hopefully it's a Bluefin.

A very small Yellowfin.

-Make some nice tuna salad with that.

At least you won't go hungry.

A Yellowfin is just a much smaller cousin of the Bluefin tuna.

That Yellowfin's nothing to me, absolutely nothing.

You have to catch at least a dozen of them to make any money doing it.

We need to catch a Bluefin.

We need a 500-pound tuna, not a 15.

I wanna catch a fish, I wanna win.

We just got to be careful on days like today especially.

Got a bad start going this year already, haven't even started fishing yet,

we're behind.

Last year, we finished the season in the fifth place.

I was hoping to get off to a better start this season.

But right now, we've got transmission issues

and we can't even get out of the gate.

This ain't the greatest ladder I've ever seen, Will.
