Please excuse my sudden letter.

If I may say so, I feel very close to you after reading your novel "A Triangular Trap."

Also, I was so enthralled by the protagonist, Chisato, that

I've been trying to live like her for a month.

I've even been calling myself Chisato.

This man's just like a certain small-time syndicate underling in your novel,

so of course I've fallen in love.

What happened?

What happened?

What the hell happened?

What's your name?

Chisato.

Chisato?

Where do you live?

Cigarette.

- Where do you want to go? - Light.

Here.

We'll be at my place soon.

Hey! Where do you live?

Where do you want to go?

Say something!

Don't you have any other songs?

Don't do that. It's fine.

It's a good song, right?

Why do you care?

We're here.

Nice place, huh?

Huh?

Huh?

I don't have any food. Want something to drink?

Got any brandy?

Even if I did, I wouldn't serve it to just anyone.

Nice try. Have some coffee.

Why didn't you just say that in the first place?

Want some money for the train? It's not running, though.

That's funny.

Only cowboys say "ya." It's vulgar.

Christ always said to answer with "yes."

So, "Yesus Christ?"

That's not funny.

So...

What's the deal with those handcuffs?

The guy I lived with...

He did it.

Why, though?

I don't know.

He did it to me.

One person always has a good reason.

But the other is hurt so badly that they want to die.

I'm coming in.

Hey! I'm coming in!

Hey! I'm coming in!

The key's right here.

Drop it in the mailbox when you leave!

Hey! Hey!

Leave as soon as you're up.

Now for the news.

Kitagawa Corporation, linked with the largest trading firm in Japan, Sanshin Corporation,

has gone bankrupt due to low herring roe sales, a market which it had cornered.

The total debt is around 50 billion yen,

the seventh largest bankruptcy debt in our history.

As business was failing at the end of last year, the president of Kitagawa Corporation

had employees write 13 checks, totalling 1.5 billion yen, that were

deposited into private accounts at the Kanda branch of Kantō mutual savings bank.

On June 24th, the president, at the same branch, withdrew the 1.5 billion,

divided it into ten cardboard boxes containing 150 million each,

loaded them into a van, and disappeared.

And now, yesterday's economic...

Remand: keeping a suspect in detention prior to a trial.

Also known as detention pending trial.

Remand: keeping a suspect in detention...

...pending trial.

This is mainly done to prevent a suspect from fleeing or destroying evidence,

and differs from detention as a form of punishment.

...or destroying evidence...

What?!

I'm gonna wash my face, OK?

Bitch!

...mainly to prevent a suspect from fleeing...

Breakfast is ready.

The coffee's getting cold.

But maybe you like it that way.

Stop that racket!

I told you I wanted hot coffee after I wake up!

And why do I have to sleep out here?!

We don't have that kind of relationship, now do we? We barely know each other.

They say that company president made off with 1.5 billion yen.

Will you take me out today?

Where to?

I only have this to wear.

I'm not planning on keeping you.

Who is it?

It's me.

...differs from detention as a form of punishment.

Have you ever fallen in the street

Calling someone's name over and over?

Twilight is neither gentle

nor kind like everyone says

Parting always comes

Parting follows after happiness

Is that my habit?

To always wake alone

You carry your grief

Were they home?

No one?

What's with all the keys?

Spares.

All of them?

Spare keys of love.

What are they for?

All the the places I've lived since coming to Tokyo.

- So... - Including the next one.

Who lives there now?

What if they're home?

Then I won't just go in.

That's what a doorbell's for, right?

- Were they home? - Yeah, just a weird old man.

He told me to come on in.

Still going to tell me to leave?

That's right. Get out.

Take care.

See ya.

What surprised me more than anything

was how similar the novel's plot was to my life.

Your Chisato robs empty houses just like me.

It was a cruel revelation that my whole life was embedded in your novel.

It seems Kitagawa left Amsterdam and arrived safely in Andorra in the Pyrenees.

He was relieved, and eager to hear the next part of the plan.

The Metropolitan Police Department is doing its job, though.

They've issued the arrest warrant for embezzlement.

Kitagawa Corporation President Wanted by Police

They want to drag it out as long as possible, right?

No, he'll be arrested.

Embezzled 1.5 Billion Yen Prior and Fled Probably surprisingly fast.

They'll do everything they can to make sure of that.

We assumed he'd be arrested of course. That's part of the plan.

He might be optimistic, but...

It's hard to tell with that guy.

- What's wrong? - Nothing.

We came to an agreement over how to keep him from losing the money.

You said you used a biker gang to take the money

from Kitagawa on his way from the bank, right?

Yeah, yeah.

I don't believe that.

No, that's really what happened.

That would create quite a poetic relationship

between the victim and the criminal.

That you stole 1.5 billion...

That's too much to believe.

I guess you're right.

The truth is that Kitagawa and I were classmates in middle school.

That made the talks go smoothly.

Right now that guy has nothing to rely on except for that money. Nothing.

That's all he has left.

Not to mention his resentment towards his parent company, Sanshin.

It's terrible how those big companies operate, isn't it?

I wouldn't necessarily say it's reckless to trust each other.

That's a mistake.

Things like friendship, and being classmates...

In a relationship based on the theft of 1.5 billion...

A pro doesn't do that.

He doesn't get tied up emotionally.

But whether the relationship of trust between he and I will last or not...

Couldn't you ask the same of our relationship of trust?

That's what I think.

I hate these kinds of places.

It's not a place to talk about important things.

Next time let's go somewhere more serious.

And...

Don't wear such conspicuous clothes.

Hey, can I get some bell peppers? Bell peppers.

Welcome.

Welcome.

Welcome!

Hey, hey, it's a little too crowded.

Let's see, who should it be today?

Bring your face into the light.

You, you, and you. Everyone else get out.

- Hey, waiter. - Yes?

No hors d'oeuvres.

Just my usual tomato juice.

Then some pickles after that.

No way!

Welcome.

- Oh, how are you? - It's been a while.

That white jacket suits you. Is it Italian?

- It's cheap. - Thank you very much.

What the hell are you doing?

Welcome home.

Want some coffee or black tea?

Why are you back here?
