The first 200 lines.
- Super excited for camping, all packed up.
- Road trip! - Road trip.
- On the way to the cabin, three kids, two adults,
Two mobility devices, three other scooters.
But there's a lot of shit, can't wait to get there.
Let's go, buddy.
- The annual wheelie peeps camping trip.
I'm gonna put all the stuff between me and victoria
Behind me for right now and just to have a great weekend
With my friends.
You do know you're partying with us all night.
Like we're not going to bed till six tomorrow.
We found this spot, coyote lake lodge.
It's wheelchair accessible cabins.
So you got your hardcore campers,
Like me, brittney, wade, and of course, muscles.
What's up?
How's the drive?
Good.
They call me muscles, I don't know why.
Ever since I was little,
We grew up camping and being outside.
My dad taught me it's important to be able to chop wood
And learn how to live outside if you had to.
Once I had a disability, I often thought,
How am I going to navigate the outdoors?
You've just got to get out there
And overcome obstacles as you go.
I have an acreage northeast of edmonton
And we have no water, no power.
I just love having a fire and chopping wood
And being an outdoorsman.
Do you have luggage?
- Yeah, I got a sleeping bag I brought.
- So you got your hardcore campers
And then you got your newbies.
You got ro ro, aleem, and vahen.
Look ma, no hands.
Why don't you help roneel?
- No, no, it's okay. - No, that's kind of weird.
- I don't go to other strange men.
This is my first time camping with the wheelie peeps.
Growing up never went camping at all, ever.
I absolutely hate bugs,
I'm like terrified of them.
- This is what you call glamping.
- I haven't heard that in a while.
- I'm not cut out for camping,
But I'm looking forward to getting
To connect with nature and get outside.
I'm going to try something new,
Get outside my comfort zone and just embrace the nature.
This is so out of my element.
Oh, there's a spider.
Oh, oh my, no, no, what the hell?
I can't believe that was a real spider.
- This is the first time we've went camping.
- I'm a little bit nervous about it.
- Camping's not my thing.
Okay, so no internet at all.
Aleem! It's camping.
Oh yeah, that's right.
- You don't go on the internet when you're camping.
Gee, that's awesome.
- This is going to be interesting.
- This is cool, like there's toilet paper and everything.
- I'm glad that you're excited about the toilet paper.
The cabins are really cool.
Like I didn't think they'd be so well built
And there's no tv in here obviously, but that's okay.
- If I hear one more thing about tv,
I'm gonna fricking kick your little ass.
All right.
You're camping.
Let's get this thing unloaded.
I'll take the other side.
- I brought out the off-road wheelchair
For the wheelie peeps to try.
I use it to do outdoor activities out at my place.
It's heavy.
I know it's heavy.
- And I mostly honestly use it to share the outdoor
Experience with other people that have disabilities
That don't have the opportunity to.
What do you think, aleem?
- I am very excited about that.
I'm just trying to figure out how to get in.
I would come from this side.
You know your ability best.
You go, can you get your feet on the...
Okay.
First mission accomplished.
- You don't have a driver's license, do you?
I don't.
- Well, I wish you all the luck in the world, buddy.
Oh my god, oh my god.
I hope it doesn't tip.
Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa.
I wouldn't go up something that steep.
- He's testing the limits pretty good on it.
Oh god, oh god.
- He potentially could tip it if he's going up that.
- Nicky, you're taking me into a bush.
Am I on a trail or is this the wrong trail?
- This is the definition of a trail.
Well, I didn't know.
- If there was a photograph of a trail in the dictionary,
This would be it.
- Well, it doesn't look finished.
Oh god, there's little ants everywhere.
Crap.
I don't usually get to do this.
This is really fun, but scary.
Definitely want to do this again.
Good morning, gorgeous.
- It was nice to finally like sleep with somebody.
What do you mean by sleep?
Whatever interpretation.
the word.
Our first night together was spectacular.
And that's all I'm gonna say.
That's all you get.
- To share a bed with somebody was, I don't know,
It was amazing.
Somebody that you're on the same frequency with.
Yeah.
- It's weird, all the common things we have.
I know.
It feels right.
I hate to say the word perfect, but it does.
- When you were twitching all night and I'm like,
Well, at first with my spasms all night,
I'm like, dude, that's gotta be annoying for her.
And just to know that you didn't even notice it
And you were just knocked out snoring and shit.
I did not snore.
- You were snoring. - Really?
Yeah, and farting.
Mm-mm.
Yeah, you farted.
- I mean, my sphincters don't work, so I don't care.
I'm kidding.
- I literally can't control it.
No, you didn't do neither.
You were sleeping peacefully.
- I'm very physically attracted to him.
He's a really good looking guy.
We have so much chemistry.
I don't know what I was worrying about for so long.
Like I have insecurities, for sure,
About dating another wheelchair user,
But I think that's just... Gonna have to,
That's something I have to deal with.
And I think as we more go into public together more,
That's gonna come out more in me.
I've only gone on one date with a wheelchair guy
And I was so nervous and it was my insecurities.
- You know, I also think it has a point of acceptance
Of like where you are in your injury
And who you are in your injury, right?
Like I really rock my wheelchair as like a badge of honour
To be around people like you.
Like there's comfort in having a teammate in this shit.
- I'm a little bit nervous about how people
Are gonna perceive us, but today is the first time
That we're gonna hang out in public as a couple.
- By the way, can you do a wheelie before you leave?
-Okay, anyways, let's get ready.
Okay, yeah, for sure.
Can I look at your butt while you transfer?
I can't see it.
Can you rotate your chair the other way?
Nope.
- Fucking love these things, man.
This thing's like a tank.
Make you feel so free.
Nothing stopping you.
- I've never done this before, so it's kind of nice
To try it out and see how it is.
- And so you do understand this isn't camping.
This is glorified...
- There's still cell service out here.
It's not camping.
This style of camping, great for first timers.
I would call it cute, but I want the wheelie peeps
To experience a more rugged form of camping.
It's really important to me and it helped me
Build self-confidence so I feel like it can help them.
- This is my kind of camping, I love it.
- So in a few days, I'm gonna bring them out
To my acreage and we're gonna do camping for real.
You come to my place and I'll show you what real camping is.
- There's bigger trees down here by the reservoir.
Okay.
You're extra quiet.
- Let's just take a break up there in the shade, okay?
Yeah, for sure.
- There are some of the things I wanted to ask you.
Oh oh!
- The trip is going really well, but I still have
No comments yet. Be the first to leave one.
