of the year, the 70th annual golden globe awards.

Tonight, live from the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly hills,

it's the year's most electrifying red carpet with

exclusive and unlimited access to the biggest stars, eye-popping fashion,

unpredictable moments, and candid interviews.

The best in movies and television gather for Hollywood's favorite party of

the year, the Hollywood foreign press association presents the

2013 golden globe arrivals special.

From nbc's the "today" show, Matt lauer and Savannah Guthrie,

Natalie morales, and Al roker.

Now, please welcome Matt lauer and Savannah Guthrie.

Good evening, everyone.

Welcome to the most glamorous and

star-studded red carpet in all of Hollywood.

The stars are lining up for the 70th annual golden globe awards.

That's right, Matt.

For the last seven decades the Hollywood foreign press

association has gathered the biggest stars in movie and

television to celebrate the year's excellence in what's long

been called the party of the year.

There is an atmosphere of celebration here.

That's always the case.

There is also an atmosphere where anything can happen and often times it does.

Which is why we love it here.

This is my second time being here.

There's definitely something in the air.

We should mention we have the best location of any.

We are to feet from where the limousines drop off the stars.

They see us before security which is why Savannah has been

frisking the major male stars.

Part of the job.

That's right.

There is an open bar that livens things up.

As a matter of fact they tell us about 9,000 glasses of champagne

will be served during the evening tonight.

Make that 9,002.

In fact, more than 300 stars will be toasting each other with

champagne tonight.

They are pouring out of the limos headed down to the red

carpet to get to this party.

So many stars, so little time.

Let's go to Natalie.

I'm here with Mr. Bradley Cooper nominated for "silver linings playbook."

What an honor for your first nomination.

Incredible.

I mean, you know, the good thing is it's a word of mouth movie

and the fact that the film's been getting attention helps

promote it so people go see it.

When you were filming it you said it was a special film and

you knew you had something big here.

Did you ever think you would be an Oscar nominee?

You're starring with Robert de niro, Jennifer Lawrence.

That's a while ago with "the hangover" and since I decided to

make a living as an actor.

This experience I definitely learned a lot from the character.

In a way I never had done before.

I know when you first read the script you said you didn't

think you could actually play the part.

I was scared.

I mean, David o. Russell wanted you to be extreme emotionally

and be vulnerable in front of the camera.

I was nervous I wasn't going to be able to do it for him.

You did an amazing job.

Third golden globe nomination.

It must be a thrill.

It is.

It's really great.

This is the first awards show I ever got invited to four years ago.

Nominated, like you said, three times.

Pretty cool.

It never gets old.

People ask if it gets routine.

You're here.

You can see this can never get routine.

One of your costars, Sofia vergara, also nominated.

Yep.

What is it about the show that resonates with people?

It's a family show.

We highlight the funny situations we find ourselves in

and maybe don't have the ability all the time to stop and acknowledge it.

Our writers do a good job reflecting life back towards people.

People say, hey, that happened to me or my wife is that

character or my cousin's that character.

We tell relatable stories that are funny.

Will we see fizbo again?

We saw a flashback this season.

There are no plans I know of.

I would love to come to one of these dressed as fizbo.

I would love it.

How does it feel to be here?

Unbelievable.

What perfect weather.

I was afraid we would be freezing our butts off.

We did pretty good.

You sing all of your own songs.

In fact, some of them have been topping the iTunes charts,

billboards, country/western.

Do you feel you are living the dream doing acting and singing?

It's unbelievable to me.

When this first came along I thought it was too good to be true.

Especially with the writers on board.

They have done an amazing job.

We love what we do.

There are no words to be eloquent enough to say how I feel about it.

Well, hopefully you have have some of the words tonight on stage.

Jon bon jovi nominated for "not running anymore" from "stand up guys."

This is a song that's part of the movie.

That was the direction.

You had to write specific to a scene in the movie to qualify.

I had the script three months in advance and really worked hard

to make sure it was right.

We know you as a great singer and songwriter, but you have

done a lot of acting as well.

Do you have a desire to get back in front of the camera in that capacity?

I have a much better chance of writing more songs for movies

than I do getting in... you know, I enjoyed it.

It gave me periods of growth in my life.

Now my day job is great.

Band's in great shape.

New record coming out.

This is the end of a chapter.

Tomorrow I get back to New York, start rehearsing with the band for the tour.

Too bad.

Spielberg was here and said he wanted you.

You play a real person, a guy who takes out the matriarch of

the town, but everybody likes him.

He was the most popular guy in town.

That was interesting about the script and the story.

The most loved guy in carthage, Texas, commits murder and nobody

wants to convict him because he's a sweet, lovable guy.

Strange story.

When you do something like that do you feel a responsibility to the person

you're portraying?

Absolutely.

There is more pressure when it's a true story.

All of the people are still around.

They know what he was like.

They can call you on it later and say, hey, that's not how it went down.

You try to get every detail exactly right.

You did a great job.
